the first half is good drama... with the whole family dynamics... .. the second half is okayish... the story-line…
I have watched up to episode 21, and so far, I am liking it. But based on majority of the comments here, the drama sucks after episode 22. I am wondering if I should continue until the end because spending another 40+ hours of my life watching a C-drama that will suck in the end, would be totally waste of my time
You really can't trust MDL's ratings. It ends with tragedy, everyone gives it a low rating. Lol. Meanwhile sugar-coated…
You are correct. I have watched this drama and I find it to be great, even though it has a tragic ending. I think viewers gave this drama low ratings because of the tragic ending (since viewers tend to vote based on emotions anyway... hehehe).
During these "restricted movement period" imposed by the Austrian govt due to the Coronavirus pandemic, I chose to watch several Korean and Chinese dramas at the same time, not binge-watching, but just having varieties every hour and every day
I started watching this drama because someone recommended that it is a drama where the King and Queen/concubine loved each other so much, similar to QUEEN: LOVE AND WAR. Then I realized the FL is the same person in HI BYE, MAMA, which I really loved. I hope I don't cry too much after watching this historical drama. I really loved the main female lead, Jang Ok Jeong, because she is smart, talented, hard-working and strong because she is a survivor of loss, pain and abuse. I will not call her evil because she is the product of her terrible environment and abusive experiences. She became greedy for power and manipulative because she believes that's the only way to fully protect herself and those she loves. If people say she is evil, then they must also say that her uncle, mother-in-law (King's bitter mother), the Queen's father and his accomplices, the bad palace maids, her mother's slave contractor, and the overall Josean high-class society members as SUPER EVIL and Sadistic - because they abuse the weak and the poor, and they take joy in other's pain and suffering.
The episode 8 was so good that it made me cry so many times. Lesson learn here = Even if you die and don't want to move on, you also suffer and feel pain, seeing how your living loved ones miss and cry for you; I think it is like being in hell - Hell on Earth
I just loved the episode 9, especially when sakura's family were spying on them via the bedroom door- super hilarious, and when sensei Tendo cried and confessed his love to her - so sweet. I really wished this drama has more episodes. I don't want it to end. I want to see them get married.
I wanted to watch Under The Power, but seeing how young the FL looked in the drama (maybe she has a baby face, I don't know) it turned me off. I cannot take her seriously as FL. If this was a modern drama instead of historical period, perhaps I will watch.
I love this drama. The FL is super cute and adorable in her obvious crush on the cold indifferent doctor ML. She is not cringey at all, unlike the actress FL in "Morning Call". And the way the ML slowly melt under her adorableness is really nice to see. I always look forward to the next episodes every week.
I feel bad for a lot of characters, including Min Jung. But the female lead has it a lot harder. Imagine dying…
@Hime: I totally agree with you. You are spot on regarding this drama. After watching episodes 1-4, I came to the same conclusion. In the end, I felt sad for both of the wives, especially Min Jung. I think there are many women in her situation, who married their secret love/crush when they got the chance to, hoping that their husbands will love them eventually. At least, to Min Jung's credit, she is not a bad/abusive stepmother.
The only reason I wanted to watch this Cop K-drama was because of the 2 main male actors - Lee Seung Gi and Cha Seung Won; they were also in A Korean Odyssey and I loved the crazy funny bromance between these 2 guys. I have finally marathon-watched You're All Surrounded last weekend, and it was a wild ride. I think this is one of the best cop drama I have ever watch, even though it is produced in 2014. Lots of twists and turns, deep conspiracies and mysteries, complex villains, plus bits of romance thrown in. The chemistry between the main leads were great, and there were many sad instances that brought lots of tears too. Overall, I really enjoyed this k-drama and I wished they made Season 2 immediately after Season 1 ended. I really miss these guys - Detective Seo Pan Seok and his 4 rookie detectives.
I also almost gave up on romantic Korean dramas because majority of the dramas that aired in 2018-2019 were lackluster, boring, dumb, so cliches. Thank goodness "Her Private Life", "Hotel del Luna" and "Crash Landing on You" dramas came along in late 2019. I loved "What's Wrong with Secretary Kim", and I still rewatched it many times, just for fun. I liked "My Absolute Boyfriend" and "The Tale of Nokdu" during the 1st halves but then they went downhill the 2nd halves of the drama. I find "Radio Romance" and "The Beauty Inside" to be average, "Perfume" was sweet (I liked the story of slim successful guy loving a plus-size lady), I hated "The Secret Life of my Secretary" and "Clean with Passion For Now" because the storyline was dumb and so cliche, and zero chemistry between the leads.
I hope Sung Hoon will get his money and that the CEO will rotten in jailhttps://www.soompi.com/article/1294155wpp/sung-hoon-take-legal-action-unpaid-wages-picked-celebrity-streethttps://www.soompi.com/article/1294245wpp/yg-studioplex-releases-official-statement-former-co-ceos-controversy-sung-hoons-unpaid-wages
I don't understand how the CEO can run away with billions of won investment money. I thought investment money is deposited into the company's bank account, and there should be controls put in place to stop 1 person from withdrawing so much money. This kind of scandals must teach films studios or company to have better control.
OMG... 50 episodes of a family drama. The synopsis sounds interesting but I am not sure if I can spare 50++ of my hours on this. I prefer something like Crash Landing On You.... hehehe...
