disagree on the wife, she's there to provide betrayal.agree that jung gicheul was the dumbest but he's not wrong…
They betrayed him only because he started to make dumb decisions that were hurting the whole team. And the betrayal can be provided by anyone, I don't see why we need to have this bland wife character that has no personality or character development. The way I see it is that she's useless to the investigation, but worst of all, she's useless to the storyline. But that may just be the results of a badly written character.
As usual I don't mind spoilers so seeing that it was all out, I checked the ending scene. I still gotta get there…
A lot of people are saying that he did it because he didn't want his wife to feel guilty that Gicheul would commit suicide because of them... but to be honest, I still don't understand why he couldn't shoot his arm to stop him. I thought that's what happened, that that's what the show was setting up 🤔
The Best Character/MVP Award: Chief Seo. He's the most badass, fashionable, cold-blooded killer, who's always loyal to one cause, never gets swayed or betrays, and the only one who gets things done around here.
The Realest Character Award: Lee Haeryun. She's real for protecting Junmo despite learning his true identity and standing by him, and real in the sense of always being honest about what she's thinking. No mind games or betrayals, she always says it how it is.
The Most Tragic Character Award: Park Junmo. I mean, this man put in the most work, but he lost everything. Other than the promotion, all he's left with is baggage and trauma.
The Most Loyal Character Award: Lee Haeryun's Bodyguard/Mr. Scarface. This man was with her since she was a kid. He might have worked for her dad, but when it came down to it, she was always his priority, and he only ever really did anything for her. Loyal to the end. In a show where everyone betrays everyone, he was so refreshing.
The Dumbest Character Award: Jung Gicheul. A literal gangster, who knows he will always have a target on his back, he knows he has to be the most careful, and yet he can't bring himself to think logically because he wants to get his dick wet. Instead, he sells out his own friends of 20 years for a man he's known for a week and a cop. Go figure.
The Most Useless Character Award: Yu Euijung. I mean... Why is she even here?
The Worst of Evil Certificate: Hwang Mingoo and Cho Chang Sik share this one. One is a corrupt cop who works with/for all sorts of evil men, and yet he's so deadset on catching this one guy, he's willing to do anything for it, even sell out another cop. The other one is so deadset on getting his promotion, that all he cares about is his investigation. Not once did he care for any of his team members or literally any other human beings who died in the process.
I feel like overall the most underwhelming character was Gichul. He didn't feel like a gangster, and he wasn't…
I loved Gichul at the beginning, and I actually respected him and feared him a bit - I mean, he was really cold and ruthless towards anyone who disrespected him, though he always seemed calm and collected, the way he would just stare people down while they were talking as if he was seeing right through them, but being very minimal in talking or expressing his thoughts, it seemed like he was reading everyone but he himself was unpredictable. That was the first five episodes. After, it seems like they just made him completely stupid/ignorant, ignoring any red flags, and he seemed to not have one logical thought in his head, and he was just a completely emotional softie. I definitely lost all my respect for him, especially the more he would hang out with Euijung.
Man, am I the only one who felt unsatisfied with the ending and felt like there were too many loose ends they didn't bother to tie up? It's sad, because I was getting so pumped up with the way they were doing things in ep 10 and 11, but got disappointed in the end and now I feel so empty. They opened up so many storylines with these last few episodes and didn't finish any of them other than JKC, PJM, Euijung and Haeryun storyline. These are the things I was hoping to see:
- What happened to that pregnant girl Wendy? She didn't show up after her conversatiom with Mingoo. - What happened to Haryun's scar-faced bodyguard and Mingoo's cop buddy? - So we're just not going to address Mingoo's death at all? - What about Yankees? - After Chief Seo was arrested, I was hoping to get a scene with him to see how he's doing, he was shown to be such a scary man that he teriffied me the most, but the showdown with him was too underwhelming - What about PJM's dad being one of the biggest dealers? They made such a fuss about it, but the last scene we had with him was when he was talking to PJM's cop friend, and after that he didn't show up at all. What was the point of that storyline? I thought his dad would meddle to the point where he outs Joon Mo, but that didn't happen. And let me remind you that PJM still isn't aware about his dad being involved in this business! - What about the private investigator who fell off the roof? Everyone was investigating his death and Mingoo was so close to finding out it was PJM, but then people stopped looking into it all of a sudden and then it was never brought up again! Not even Gicheul found out how it happened, and they even made that big deal about the lighter, and just brushed it off! - Also, the last few episodes should be the most action packed, and yet PJM didn't fight NOT ONE guy! Where is that cool mud scene that was in the trailer? Where was the action? - And possibly the most disappointing of all, the thing we have all been waiting for: the reveal of PJM being an undercover cop and playing everyone. The reveal was my most anticipated thing, about how people would find out and how they would react. It could have gone about many different ways and they chose the most underwhelming one. I will say, that I loved the reveal with Chief Seo, because they made it very suspenseful and nail-biting, but the actual "fight" afterwards was highly disappointing. I also liked how they broke it down to Haeryun, and I like how they wrapped up her storyline, as she chose PJM anyway over her father. But Jungbae, Heesung, and the others? Absolutely atrocious. Joonmo just came up to them, told them they're arrested and they just dropped their weapons, and screamed he's a bastard... that's it? really? That was the perfect time to put in a great action sequence, raise the stakes. Instead, the one thing I was waiting for the whole show was so fast and we didn't even get to see these guys in jail or anything. - And you're telling me JKC was really clueless the whole time? So he was just a dumbass who kills himself at the end without putting up a fight? At the very least, they could have had JKC and PJM go at it, hand-to-hand, so JKC's death was absolutely underwhelming as well. - And the glasses cop? He lied to Junmo about the detective's death, and there wasn't even a confrontation? - And Euijung? What was she doing during the last episode... no, during the whole show? There was no character development, she was useless to the story and barely showed up when things were most instense! She's supposed to be the female lead and yet I feel like all the supporting cast played a way bigger role! - And what about Yongdae? He watched Chief Seo get arrested and we didn't see him after. - And that intense Chinese woman who always stood by Haeryun's father? They hyped her but she literally did nothing for the story, same goes for that dad. What was the point of showing the Chinese so much if they didn't do anything? I thought they would be a problem for PJM at the end and he would have to fight them. - The show made it seem at the end like PJM would have so many enemies because everyone was onto him, but there was not one showdown - not with the Chinese, Japanese, Gicheul, his boys, or that cop Mingoo. - At the very least, they could have shown all the guys PJM arrested sitting in jail at the very end and show what they're thinking about or doing - I mean, are they all locked up together in one place or what? They don't even know that Know Seungho isn't real and that he's actually Junmo, Euijung's husband! - I was hoping to see some of Junmo's past as well, they showed us Euijung and Gicheul when they were young, but we never got to see a young PJM, even though he's the lead. We only heard he got beat by his junkie dad and escaped to Euijung, but how come we didn't see any of that?
All in all, unless there's a second season, the last episode completely ruined the whole show for me. If they have planned for a second season on purpose where all these things are wrapped up, I could see myself appreciating the first season once more. If not, then it's just very badly done and rushed 😔
now that would be a crazy plot twist but a realistic ending. There is no way JKC is actually falling for all these…
I guess all that's left is to see if I'm right with these last few episodes 👀 I actually kinda hope I am cause JKC seemed to be getting a bit too shabby, a bit lame, so I was kinda losing my respect for him fr! Though he did catch me by surprise at the end of ep 9 when he showed up at the deal, 'cause I was really thinking that he was too proud to make it work, but he managed to get both his apology (30% price increase) and revenge (Kanemoto dead)
I have a crazy theory for how JKC will find out about PJM being undercover! It might seem too farfetched, but at the beginning of ep 8, JKC is still extremely suspicious of PJM, and yet he supports him and lets him go and see Haeryun, but in that scene he tells him to wear a specific suit. I immediately thought the suit was bugged, but the show doesn't bring it up at all - so I think they're planning to bring it back as a plot twist. Now, let's imagine that the suit is indeed equipped with a listening device. While wearing that suit, PJM didn't do or say anything weird, up until after all that bloodshed, outside of the hospital, he called Euijung and told her she should get out of the investigation, but he can't stop and that he will try to close it as soon as possible. If the suit indeed had a bug in it, JKC would hear all this and I'm sure he could put two and two together and understand they're both in this undercover mission together. Now, the next day, after this, JKC does act more cold towards PJM up until the end of ep 9, even though he should trust him after all that work he put in while taking those guys out (unless he heard that conversation). Though he doesn't immediately kill and torture PJM and Euijung, what if the plot twist is that JKC is trying to play them at their own game first, after how they played with him, as revenge? I mean, at the end of ep 9, even though JKC had a conversation and came to an agreement with that Japanese gangster, when PJM asked what they talked about, JKC didn't tell him anything about his plan or that agreement, even though he should have realistically trusted PJM. As a result, PJM went to Haeryun and wanted to do the deal with Kanemoto without JKC. But PJM and Haeryun show up unnanounced, so how come JKC shows up just at the right time? Now, if at this point, JKC already knows PJM is undercover, it's most likely he would now bug all his suits. So when PJM goes to meet up with Haeryun and wants to blindside him, JKC hears about it and that's why he's able to show up just right. Also, I haven't seen the next episode previews, but I keep hearing about JKC holding Euijung's hand and asking to marry her in front of PJM. Now, even for JKC, proposing so fast seems way too rash. So again, this could just be a part of his twisted revenge plan - he knows they're an undercover couple, so he knows Euijing would agree, but it would be heartbreaking for them both. And in the end, after causing enough emotional pain, JKC will reveal he was aware of it and will now go in to cause some physical damage.
I don't understand why people say the wife is useless. We are all human, we all have weakness, and people we need…
Well, she's a useless character because she doesn't contribute anything to the story and she's useless to the investigation because she doesn't get any useful information out of Gi Cheul 🙊
I also thought that so I was confused that now she's so low on the list of supporting actors, especially since she showed up so late, I expected her to show up within the first three episodes 🫠But maybe we just got it confused with the movie "Hopeless", because it's going to be very similar in its themes and story and BIBI is a main actress there? (Not to mention it comes out quite soon)
I was worried this would be really disappointing because of the comments on the website, but I actually really loved it, to the point that I even surprised myself! GKP gave me the creeps, his acting in this show was amazing 🫨 he came off as a real serial killer. His facial expressions, the deep voice, the mannerisms and movements, it was so perfect! And I love his chemistry with JHI. I actually felt like the two male leads had better chemistry than JHI and the female lead 😠There's definitely some mildly annoying scenes and inconsistencies, but it wasn't as bad as everyone is saying that it would ruin the show or anything. Maybe because I was more concerned about the characters than the plot 🤔 Anyway, I hope there would be a second season!!
I need a season 2 for Extracurricular and Move to Heaven. I literally think about them everyday and I just know I will never find anything as good. Also, I still haven't given up on Hello Monster either. Honestly, I would much rather take any of these three for a second season instead of Squid Game, Sweet Home, or Uncanny Counter which don't even need a second season.
It was good drama but I think it will be very hard to equal storyline of "Vincenzo". Our mafioso was always smarter…
That was exactly why I didn't like Vincenzo. I thought the storyline was boring and that Vincenzo was too overpowered to root for. I really liked Ryu Su Yeol because of all his weaknesses. It made him realistic and opened up a path for character development. He's been through a lifetime worth of trauma and is still standing strong so I really respect his character.
Unlike western culture, Korean culture are quick to cancel cause they are quick to idolize - so they live with…
I mean, all he admits to is having a fight and saying mean things when he was 11. But all the other accusations are automatically believed to be true. I was also just thinking 'bout the things I had said and done to me by kids when we were 12 and I can't imagine going out of my way to try and ruin someone's life years later just because they wronged me back then. It takes a special type of person to do that too.
And the betrayal can be provided by anyone, I don't see why we need to have this bland wife character that has no personality or character development. The way I see it is that she's useless to the investigation, but worst of all, she's useless to the storyline. But that may just be the results of a badly written character.
