Omg I hadn't thought of it that way but you are so right! CSS didn't even have the necessities to write and learn properly and her mother didn't even notice (even though she was with her when she was punishing her in the earlier episodes). This just goes to show how obsessed she is with wanting CSS to be the perfect daughter, like a doll or a puppet and how little attention she pays to her daughter's real personality!

Yeah but she herself isn't demure and obedient like other madams so I don't get why she's trying to completely erase her daughter's personality... I get that CSS needs to learn a lot of things (etiquette etc.), but she hasn't even hugged her once. Plus every child learns through different means and it's pretty obvious that CSS can easily learn through love, not punishment. Her own mother hasn't spent any time to get to know her and she literally grew up without anyone by her side. I can't even begin to imagine how awful and detrimental to a child's emotional development this would be.... Plus she's still not getting any affection from her, which she so clearly is deprived of... She's blatantly favoring the cousin and heavily disciplining her daughter... who barely knows her... It's a really unhealthy approach and it's driving a wedge between them.

True... Her mother is really awful, she has her reasons but she's using the worst possible approach to things regarding her daughter somehow...

This! She's the one who said they'll have nothing to do with each other from now on... Instead she's still trying to dictate CSS's life... The audacity she has...

Her horrible treatment will make CSS grow even more, but Idk how they're going to redeem her character... Even if she's doing it bc she loves CSS, it's still abuse and she's simply adding scars to the already tortured CSS!

This! People need to realize that CSS lost her trust in her mother when she didn't support her in front of her aunt-grandmother and instead took revenge for her own self (or that's what it seemed like, plus what she overheard from her room when the mother was talking to her maid)

I mean it's a justified reaction. Her mother hasn't tried to bond with her at all, she's practically worst than a stranger in the way she treats her. On top of everythinh she ADORES the cousin while she hasn't even hugged her own daughter once

Tbh I thought she was lying when she said that. If she truly knew everything that just makes her an unredeemable character for me. Like I literally don't know how you overcome something like that, it's simply awful! I've watched up until the middle of the 4th episode with subs and the rest without (viki hasn't uploaded them yet)

True!! I get that she pities the cousin, but isn't her daughter so much more pitiful? The worst part is that I think that she feels embarrassed by her daughter

I understand your point and I'm not saying that her mother doesn't love her, she does. But the way she expresses her love is not healthy for their current situation! Even if she behaves the same way with her sons, they most probably will still understand their mother's motive and won't be that hurt by it. The situation with CSS, though, is completely different! CSS literally does not know this woman (personality wise etc.) and hasn't bonded with her AT ALL! Her mother's actions only drive a deeper wedge between instead on bringing them closer!

I really dislike CSS' mother! I completely understand that CSS needs discipline and has to learn a lot of things BUT....The 1st thing to do when you see your child (whom you are just meeting, for the very first time, EVER!) is NOT to go ahead and start berating them! It is of utmost significance to build a connection first before everything else. It should be pretty obvious that the child has been all ALOVE and neglected with no one to lean on, for a child that is devastating. All she did was add insult to injury, especially when she started codling the cousin while she hasn't even hugged the FL once! NOT EVEN ONCE!!!! Like, for god's sake give CSS some love too lady!!

Tbh I was more interested in Ji Min's and Ha Neul's story than the rest but in general it was an enjoyable drama
