I just really hope she doesn't end up with the emperor! He literally poisoned/drugged her, to prevent her form having any children. Whatever his reasons were or how important they were he could've discussed this with her. Had he explained his situation and reasoning clearly I am sure she would've agreed and complied. But no instead of telling her his difficulties, he decided to drug her, which could've seriously hurt her and even made her infertile. I honestly thought the fl was a strong character who wanted to be independent and had her own opinions, despite being in that hellish harem... If she ends up with the emperor I'll be extremely disappointed with the story's progression and the fl's character! After going through all that she experienced, even if she decides to forgive him (which I don't get, but whatever), how can she forget everything he did? How could she possibly still trust that man? I personally really like Gu Xuan and believe he is way more loyal and interesting, but even if she doesn't end up with him, being alone is immensely better that being with the emperor!! For me that would just ruin both the story and the fl's character!
21 episodes?! I wish I had noticed that before watching the first two. I'm gonna have to drop this. That is way…
Interesting view. I personally like when dramas have nore episodes, as along as it feels natural regarding the plot. I find some stories demand more and others need less episodes to be enjoyable.
He is an amazing actor I watched him in "The Third Year After the Wife's Departure"/ 夫人走的第三年 and I literally cried! He deserves more main leading roles from big budget dramas!!
The whole drama was quite amazing and appealing to me.But here are few things that I certainly disliked. The whole…
I agree. This is a well made and very enjoyable drama and I honestly like it a lot, but I just can't help but feel slightly disappointed. I was honestly expecting this to have some more "dark romance" kind of vibes, but this leaned more toward the "fairytale" kind of story. According to the plot summary here: "...engaged in a thrilling dance of deception and attraction.", the descriptions promises a dark and thrilling romance story filled with mystery and sizzling chemistry. The drama though, despite the chemistry of the leads, clearly leans towards the "sweet romance with a hint of mystery" type. Also, I too was expecting the fl to showcase more of her strength and most of all her intelligence and cunning to achieve her goal, especially in the beginning to middle of the story. Plus though there was the "enemies to lovers" trope it wasn't fully utilised, in my opinion. I'm still going to rate it 8-8.5/10 bc I really did enjoy it, I just think it had even more potential, but at the end, what can we do, each has their own preferences.
I really like this drama but lately I kind of feel like something's missing... I don't know exactly what it is, maybe I wanted to see more action, more sparks, or more communication between the leads. What is definite is that I wanted to see less of Situ Ling and Fu Yue. Their scenes were borderline more thaan the main leads in the last episodes. I'd rather see some more of the main leads or the main leads with the fl's master (the master is very entertaining in general, he's one of my favorite characters). Even the bromance between Buxiu and 27 / Buxiu and ML or Fl - Zhang Tai -Tianji would've been better. I didn't dislike Situ Ling till now, tbh I still feel bad for him though. Fu Yue on the other hand, I didn't like her character since we 1st saw her. She's a bit too harsh on others, especially for someone who's been through a lot, I expected her too be a bit more sympathetic to people in bad conditions (eg she was willing to sacrifice innocent lives in the 27/28th episode). Also I believe her character would be much more likeable had she been a bit more subtle about her love towards SL in the beginning and only slowly got more and more expressive about it till she "'couldn't hide it any longer"' when SL was punished by his dad. It'd be way more impactful that way. I understand she loves SL, but she's still his subordinate and so should've tried to be more restrained in expressing her emotions. Instead of that though, she's doing the complete opposite. Most times she's acting like she's his childhood friend or fiancée. This feels off to me, based on her character's settings.
Should I drop this ? Idk man something doesn't feels right
I really like this drama, but to be completely honest, I too feel like there's something's missing, I don't know exactly what though. So far my rating is 8.0-8.5/ 10.
I don't want to feel schadenfreude, but she unfortunately made her bed and now she has to sleep in it. I don't like her character and how she's behaved till now.
I just really hope Feng Xiyang doesn't end up as empress of Susha or something cuz she simply doesn't deserve it. She's been behaving WAY too naively and selfishly. She preferred to endanger her own country (when she ran away with the 2nd ml- which was against what had been decided in the peace treaty) and hurt her brother for her own whims . We are talking about her brother, the only person whose care and love for her was 100% selfless and without any expectations. And why did she do all that? For a BARELY 10 minute encounter with a man, just that. Even her course of actions that led to their meeting was infuriating. She had ONCE AGAIN done the most stupid and reckless thing she could've done (tried to play hero, ran way to go to the frontline all alone with 0 skills and preparations). Did she really believe that she could just MAGICALLY become a war hero? She said she wanted to be like her brother and father, but with how sheltered she was, she couldn't see all the difficulties the ml had to go through in order to grow and be where he is and what he is today. I don't care how much she is going to "mature", she put a literal CRUSH -cuz that's what it was, a crush- over her country and her own BROTHER, you know the one who did everything to protect her. Not to mention that her crush was the enemy country's prince/ general. Like- no matter how much you love him, please use your brain a bit and stop having preconceived notions about people's characters. She had made up her own version of the 2nd ml's character, in her head, with almost ZERO evidence to back it up. He didn't even have to manipulate nor lie to her. She deceived herself, all on her own. He literally SHOWED her MULTIPLE TIMES that he loved another woman, but she still went on with her arbitrary deductions about him. Her husband was ready to kill her biological brother and she still had the nerve, the AUDACITY, to threaten the ml with suicide to let them go, thus making him face accusations of LITERAL TREASON... Does she not have a brain? She was behaving like a love brained fool for almost the entirety of the series. Even now, her behaviour stems from her wanting to take revenge on her ex husband, not bc she cares about the common people or anything. Honestly she resembles her stepmother more than anyone else, which is awful considering the 2nd empress' character. Not to mention I can't even begin to fathom how she could stomach being so close to her, considering what the stepmother had done to their mom. And even if she hadn't known, just by seeing her brother's behaviour towards that woman, should've caused her to catch onto something / put her mind into thought. And YES the ml wanted revenge too, but he ALSO cared about the common people, same goes for the fl. If Xiyang ends up becoming empress of Susha, I'm gonna be so mad bc she simply does not deserve it AT ALL! If the writers want to establish a female emperor, the fl would be a million times better as a choice, at least she has the skills, (excellent in both strategies and martial arts), is a skilled military general so she know how to properly command a lot of people and keep them in line, she also deeply cares for the people and has seen from up close how much destruction wars bring.
