I'm sorry but I don't get why this was acclaimed the "best Korean drama ever". It was okay and the acting was…
Everything that's Chinese or Korean on this site almost automatically gets the highest ratings. Outside of MDL, everything Korean or Chinese gets the most hype. That's just a fact of life in the Asian drama community, you can't do anything about it. At least the fact that so few ppl watch or like jdramas means that we have less toxicity or fights happening.

The 2000s and 90s were just a different time. I found the haircuts, especially for male characters, absolutely adorable or just straight up hilarious in these older dramas. Case in point: the ML in Orange Days.
Why compare AiB and Squid Game? Neither of them is better, they are both just survival related dramas and whether…
First of all, it would cost you literally $0 to not be rude over such a petty matter. And if someone says that one drama is better than another, let them? Why descend to their level? And ofc everyone is entitled to their own opinion... Even if it's in bad faith.
Currently watch AiB, some people say that AiB is better but some say squid game is better. Cant wait to decide
Okay, you have been making a lot of ridiculous statements, but saying AiB has not been critically acclaimed is just patently untrue. And if you can't see how AiB doesn't have "multilayered story telling" based on the Beach arc alone, the themes of survival/betrayal/friendship/teamwork throughout the drama, and the criticism of capitalism and society... Idk what to tell you. If you can't see depth in something, then it's on you. It's not bad at all, but it doesn't give you the right to criticize what others like and the story itself, especially when it's so inaccurate in this case.
As for the Rick & Morty comparison, it's very apt. You backtracked a little but essentially you made a statement that AiB is somehow is less deep when that's not the case. I pointed out examples of depth but you dismissed and pretended that SG is somehow more innovative and more complex... When it's not, those same things you pointed out have been done in other works, as well as AiB. Everything you said just feels of condescension and faux intellectualism. This discussion is just getting increasingly pointless and silly, so I'm not going to engage any further.

Lmao 'goes beyond regular storytelling' and 'delves into implications about capitalism and social commentaries'... Like every other good disaster or survival story ever made? Like Snowpiercer? The Platform? Train to Busan? AiB itself? Literally all of your comments sound like Rick & Morty fans trying to convince other ppl that their show is best and it takes an intellectual with a high IQ to understand 😔🥺 etc. etc.

Wait, are you telling me that SG doesn't have any tropes or themes or ideas that can't be found in any other survival game? Or that all stories should find different and new themes all the time or they're not valid in their depth? That if a story has deepness that can be found in another, it's not "good"? If so, then you have no understanding of how stories and art works and you should sit down and talk to content creators lol.
As for the themes of AiB, it ofc has the usual themes of friendship, the human condition, how to build a stable society in the midst of chaos, betrayals and ethics, vengeance, etc. Are these unique? Maybe not. But they are definitely well handled in my opinion. And that's the point - I really liked AiB. If you didn't, that's fine but that doesn't you give the right to make such asinine criticisms.

You're making it seem like AiB is just mindless entertainment but it's not like at all. Just because you couldn't find anything deep in that drama doesn't mean it didn't have depth. I get that you guys really liked SG but that doesn't mean you have to put AiB down.
congratz on No.1 in the US Squid Game team!Seriously don't understand how people can see AiB as better than this.…
