I love both main actors and the plot sounds intruding !!! I can't wait. It's been ages since a good mistery /crime /romance series came out. The last one I enjoyed was the resent "Memorist" and "Stranger" season 1.
My only hope for this one is that he's not completely a psycho and that maybe he committed a murder for revenge or something.... I hope....lol

I like Wang Zi Jin (consort Jin) more than the Female Lead. Maybe because she's voiced from the same actress as Feng Jiu in TMOPB and Eternal love of dream lol ❤
Her role is so cute. The female lead on the other hand is a trained assasin so she's very bold.

Anyways this drama is similar with Princess Weiyoung. It has some politics (but not very convincing in my opinion). I can already see a few plot holes and all that assassination thing is a cliche. I had hopes that it'll be as good as Rise of the phoenixes but its plot is weak. But it's a high budget production so I'll watch it since I'm out of good Historicals atm.

I believe none, because simply Rise of the phoenixes was a masterpiece lol. Well-written plot , realistic characters. No wonder the cross dressing was beautifully executed as well haha. Anyways ... if I have to pick one , the only drama that has a really successful transformation is "Love in Between". That's also a well written dramaby the way. It has thick plot and plenty of suspense. The male lead uses his brain to succeed and not his fists. The romance starts slowly but after ep5 it's burning! The enemies also are very intelligent and cunning and they require a lot of teamwork and smart strategies to be defeated. Rare thing for a wuxia nowadays lol xD

This drama has amazing plot. It requires you to "think" and use your brain in order to watch it. The fight scenes are gorgeous but the best part is that the male protagonist always uses his brain to defeat his enemies and get out of difficult situations. It's a masterpiece. I wonder why it doesn't receive more attention. Maybe because people only like silly rom-com historicals with fluffy romances and full of comedy lol. Amazing dramas like this one don't even get subbed .....

Come on release it already !!! It's been ages since it got announced. It reminds me of "Journey of flower ". I just hope it won't be so tragic as Journey of flower was lol. I can't take so much sadness again in my life.

The only thing there is, is auto translation but that sucks and you totally miss the point of the dialogues

You're right . The romance here doesn't appear magically but it develops slowly and steady. This drama reminds me of "Rise of the Phoenixes" where Feng Zhiwei and Ning Yi fell for each other slowly and not from the 1rst ep lol ❤

Because they didn't casted Zhao Lu Si hahah. Of course I'm trying to be sarcastic here. It's just that I see Zhao lu si playing the supposed.... "cute" and "attractive" female lead everywhere lol. I don't like her at all but it seems that only hers Historical dramas gain attention! Many people don't care about good acting or good plot in historicals. They just wanna see fluffy rom-comedies and if possible with zhao lusi in it lol.

I was always avoiding yanxi palace because some ppl said it had a sad ending but since you consider it good, I'll definitely try it. Thanks for recommending it. It's very hard to find a good drama lately xD

Honestly I've watched like...60 historical dramas most chinese and some Koreans. The 90% of the female leads are childish, they exists as characters only for getting rescued, the plot is awful. Mostly some silly comedy. The characters have no purpose at all , the plot is written for 12yo kids. All the historicals are like this lately. And Zhao lu si is type casted in those silly dramas.

From all the dramas that I've watched, I truly loved (as characters ) the female protagonists in :

1)Ten miles of peach blossoms ( I don't even have to describe how amazing the characters were)

2)Eternal love of dream (pillow book)

3) Journey of flower (Hua qian gu was such a strong woman she had to endure so many tragedies and still she had the strength to love the others but only to be betrayed again and again)

4) Rise of the phoenixes ( feng zi wei was insanely smart and took down palaces and armies. Breathtaking love story )

5)Love and destiny (ling xi was kind and playful but mentally mature and strong. She knew very well how to solve problems and she was always independent )

^^^This is how the historicals should be. Serious tragic with just a little comedy for some change.^^^

Yeah you're right. There are so many silly rom-com historicals lately. I can't find a good drama with intriguing plot. Every female character in those kind of dramas is silly and unable to stand up for herself. She's good only for being saved by the male lead. The plot is also goofy as usual .

Judging from the trailers it has plenty of comedy. So basically an other rom-com. Not my style at all. But maybe I'll give it a shot , 1 or 2 epiodes before I decide.
I hate naive and childish female leads who can't stand up for themselves and are useful only for being rescued all the time. I hope this won't be the case here as well.

Start watching from ep4. Because in the first episodes nothing shocking happens except that the 2 sisters losing their home and parents. (as the summary says). You'll easily understand from flashbacks what happened. I'm at ep34 atm and it totally deserves it. (my personal opinion)

Wow episodes 33 and 34 are pure fire !
All kind of tragic things happening together at once .
The actual plot of the drama started to kick in finally. After many filler-episodes were nothing basically happened now suddenly it's full of action and suspense. What the f@€k with this drama hahah
