This was unexpectedly cute for a BL between a late 30-something and 20-something guy in the office romance. And their little pretend "girls" dates just makes me giggle as much as those girls around them. Plus the fact that the younger hot guy chasing after the elder makes it even more intriguing. LOL, they also use the phrase hot guy alot.
From the two episodes so far, I think Ji Woo has an inferiority complex. It was apparent during that hangover soup scene when the "town's chief(?)" was comparing Seo Joon who's a friendly, easy-going, popular actor; while Ji Woo was an unfriendly, grumpy, un-popular chef. All the while Ji Woo tried to stay expression-less but also showed discomfort. Kinda hits home for me.
Later Ji Woo mentioned to the CEO he returned to his hometown(?) where he use to live with his parents. But his parents weren't there? Maybe he has abandonment issues earlier in life too, which later caused him to push people away, remain overly guarded, and avoid opening up. Oppose to others who become needy and codependent (kinda sounds like Seo Joon...hmm~)
Maybe Ji Woo think's he doesn't deserve Seo Joon's love and affection cuz he never received it from his parents?
Ji Woo is an ISTJ, people like this are reserved and private and open up only if they really trust the person…
Not saying JiWoo might had childhood trauma, but child negligence , like busy parents can also cause a child to grow up closed off. I'm just curious of his backstory since I can relate to him as a reserved person.
Hope season 2 has more story written. The first season was cute, but left me somewhat unsatisfied. I had so many unanswered questions like:
1) What caused SeoJoon's PTSD/panic attacks? Was he attacked by crazy fans before? Did he grew up with parents who always fought or abused him?
2) What made JiWoo such a closed off person? Bad childhood experience with friends/family?
3) Why did JiWoo kept SeoJoon's calendar in the restaurant if he didn't seem to be a fan? Was it a gift?
4) Why does JiWoo like the stars/galaxy? Why didn't the drama elaborate if it's in the title? Did the stars/galaxy remind him of fond memories from his past? Or had I missed an explaination in the drama?
Very curious what the drama will bring if it's really 12 episodes with 20-30min each as rumored. Cuz that's the longest K-BL after Light On Me.
That's what I'm SUPER worried about. Don't get me wrong, I'm very curious about the mother and always wanted to…
Because i read the translation for what would happen for the rest of the story, that's why I'm so bummed it's not gonna happen in this season. Plus it seems KBS (one of the big broadcast companies in Korea) is somehow involved I'm worried they would go the conservative route, therefore = bromance.
I have a feeling this second season will just be a mystery drama with some bromance thrown in. I'm kinda bummed; since knowing the original story was about soulmates who find each other and help each other through their difficulties together.
I actually would not had mind if they continued the original story with a different actor for Yoohan if their acting was really good.
Odd, I just read an article that the original author of the novel said her novel was never a BL novel. It's simply a mystery novel that happen to have 2 male leads, no romance. So why do people keep calling it a BL-novel adaption?
Different name? Different character names? And an added female character? Plus censorships! Hmm...
I'm totally NOT looking forward to this. Like wasn't the premise of the original story that one step-brother was physically and passionately obsessed with the other step-brother? So if this story is totally different they shouldn't even call it a remake.
Season 1 was definitely more enjoyable. Season 2 was explosive in the beginning but kind fell a bit flat in the end. They probably needed 2 more episodes to tie things up neatly.
If Season 3 for real happens my head-cannon is DeYi finally gets engaged, but due to excessive work their wedding gets postponed year-after-year, and their relationship drifts apart because they no longer have time for each other and argue a lot but they eventually make up. Or plot-twist ShiDe gets into a accident and goes into a coma while ShuYi regrets their fights and falls into a time skip back into their high school days. But ShuYi has to make ShiDe fall for him bcuz in this alternate universe ShiDe wasn't in love with him.
While I don't mind a jealousy plot for ShouZhen by hiring Alex Chou to shake up their relationship. This couple needs more screen time.
Say if they met at an older age and was never raised together, ok, good. But then there's that whole non-con bedscene...…
Yes, the fact that the mom doesn't do anything to get his son some real therapy is so worrisome. But, maybe bcuz of the Asian culture of not wanting to admit their family member has mental health issues. So they don't take them to psychiatric help bcuz that would be labeling them crazy. Which sadly is still a thing.
As of now, I'm only watching the show for Licheng/Muren.The stepbrother pair just bothers me.
Say if they met at an older age and was never raised together, ok, good. But then there's that whole non-con bedscene... like in a way I see how the lil bro thought he got consent bcuz his big bro recognized him and didn't resist. Though, most people will see this scene as rape cuz he's intoxicated.
However, in the lil bro's mind, who has low to zero perception of regular social norms, he thought this was ok. The kid definitely has difficulties with social interaction and communication and needs help before he can move on in any kind of relationship with his brother.
But I really hope they do NOT end up together. I think his big bro is too kind and deserves someone better.
this might be an odd question, but since i am relatively new to C-dramas: why do the TV stations/companies keep…
Yes, Chinese dramas, I notice they do change their drama titles/shows a couple times before the premier. My take is they have to change due to copyright reasons. Or they have a change of production companies, producers, directors, or screenwriter. And sometimes they would change plots of the story so they need to change the title to fit the new vibe of the story. It could be many reasons.
The run times are short bcuz BL is still not mainstream enough (especially, Korea, Taiwan & Japan) for production…
True. Hopefully, Taiwan can get there within the next couple of years. Heard they got a BL Drama that's gonna air on a mainstream channel soon, so that's progress.
Why is it that a lot of BL shows being released lately have only about 6 episode with run times of like 10-30…
The run times are short bcuz BL is still not mainstream enough (especially, Korea, Taiwan & Japan) for production companies to have big budgets and sponsorship to support them. The longer the production the more money you need to pay for the crew, props, sets and of course the cast.
When the dad asks Shi De; "What have you done to my son?"...Is he referring to how hopelessly in love Shu Yi is…
It's looks like all three of them are in the same room together. But I'm sure some verbal context was cropped out to make us guess what had really happened.
