I agree. I hate how the other females as portrayed as scheming, evil witches. They leave such a bad taste. Case and point: Sui He from Ashes of Love; Su Jin from Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms; Wu Huan from Ancient Love Poetry. Gosh, I was so mad at these characters. Su Jin tops my hate list :D

In episode 20 as Shi Yi prepares to marry Liu Zi Xing, he dies due to his unknown illness. Our Cui girl doesn't know this. It has been brought to the attention of the newly crowned emperor that the crown prince has passed away. So he issues a decree that states his grand uncle the Junior Prince of Nangcheng should marry Cui Shi Yi.

Our prince Zhousheng Chen arrives in his wedding attire to fetch his bride Cui Shi Yi - who is taken by complete surprise :) The happy couple are married and the following week they move back to the Western State.

Cui Feng and Princess Xing Hua get divorced. Cui Feng marries Hong Xiao Yu at the Nancheng Palace in the Western State.

So I absolutely detest tragedies because they leave me gutted for days. Still I went ahead and watched this drama because of the sequel. It's a mesmerising watch. They way our two lovers were able to convey their feelings without saying much is pure art. I must say I skipped episode 23, as there is no way I was putting myself through all that pain.

To alleviate my pain I have given the drama my own version of an ending. So here is goes. Details in the spoiler.
