I feel like you wrote my review! Pretty much every point I wanted to make you've made here.
I'm actually rewatching it at the moment as I felt I had been unjust to this version. I had literally just watched the last episode of the J version when I started it but I'm skipping at all the same points (like virtually all of 11 & 12).
The adding in of Dr J takes a chunk out of the relationships developing between the Mothers and Daughters. All of a sudden there's him to go to for advice and support instead of each other. I skipped past as many of his appearances as I could.
I think J then K is the best way round here with a dip into Miss Baek for a for another take on the story.
I'm a bit numb to the jerk lead. It still bothers me, but I can enjoy other aspects. Cause you'd be left with…
I know! I think there's a certain degree of Jerk I can cope with especially if there is a reasonable backstory to it. But if they cross that too much Jerk line, I just can't get past it.
I couldn't get past how he acted towards Hong Do over the first 3 or 4 episodes. I just got to the point where I was so angry with him (and therefore her for letting him treat her like that) I had to stop. From your review I think I'll leave it dropped, cheers.
Thank you! Not only for noticing, but for being able to read all that without any proper breaks! I need to edit!…
As my journey through dramaland continues I find the Jerk/Doormat partnership harder and harder to cope with. I love a good romance and can forgive many sins for one; if I like the leads and if it makes sense for them to like each other. If I'm left scratching my head thinking 'just why?' I tend to just drop them these days. Why would I want to watch even a borderline abusive relationship nevermind a full on one - I'm looking at you Something About 1%! I dropped Heartstrings on Wednesday, at the end of the first episode when the Jerk said "..if you lose you have to be my slave for a month..." It's like just 'Sigh!'
Keep on with the Reviews I read a couple through last night and found them both informative and entertaining. I will be revisiting Healer on the strength of your review.
The main reason I dropped it (apart from boredom) and an excellent critique: "The prince is the standard jerk who can't decide on his feelings, though he is aware that he is leading, and playing with Park Ha. Park Ha is the lead who never truly learns and gets stuck behind the trope of never standing up for herself. She just keeps smiling."
So I've paused this at 8/16. It's been a fun ride but I'm finding it's dragging a little now. Whilst the acting is excellent from the leads the joke is essentially the same one throughout. I have no interest in the Bom boys, in fact I don't really like any of the characters which is part of the problem. The growing sismance between the leads , lent some growth to their one dimensional characters but they seem to have gone back to square one again. I'm going to go back to this after a break in the hope it gets better and to refresh the 'joke'.
Well three hours of watching a bloke being a complete twat was enough for me. Don't care if he gets better, don't care if she stops letting him be so crappy towards her. Just really don't give a flying damn. Dropped
Can anyone tell me how much Dr J feature's in this? using 'spoiler' of course. I'm finding it hard to cope with…
Fortunately he doesn't feature prominently and the 'romance' is light. Did spoil it for me a bit though because a) he's a big handsome smug smoothie b) he comes to the rescue, "can't have the women doing it themselves you know...". Lee Jae Joon was the wrong choice if they had to toss in a 'love' interest for me.

Stunning! So good it's 0430 and I've gone to find the Korean version to keep it going. Which seeing as I've absolutely greeted like a bairn throughout the J version is perhaps a little strange. I'm a 53 year old bloke and I was totally drawn in as a human to a pretty much all female drama - kudos!
i had to drop it like 5 times then i realized it was Them not Me. very few people have said how disgusting this…
I think the dress episode was one of the worst for me. She overhears him commenting on how frumpy she looks so she dresses up for him. His reaction? not wanting her to look 'attractive' to other men, covering her up and putting her down before carting her off to get changed. He likes her because she dresses so other men won't find her attractive Just dreadful!
The creepy putting his arms around her to 'help' her build the model. Her stopping herself from calling her best friend's brother oppa because of his jealousy. Throwing her flowers in the bin without finding out who they were from. Dragging her everywhere by the wrist. Fluffy??!!
