Okay so I liked it overral, but like sometimes the acting didn't convince me, not from lee joon gi ofc I've seen his acting before and I enjoyed it again this time around, but really after seeing IU in hdl first, I can see how her acting improved. I just feel like hae soo sort of had the same expression most of the time, and yeah she didn't choose, but she was at fault for some stuff. It was her prejudice against wang soo that set things in motion, it made wook become wary of him, and also wanted to be king to be with her, they all wanted to become king and be with her. Then he also willingly drank poison to protect her and also took an arrow for her, and still she never could trust him enough which got the prince and his wife killed. Now maybe if she had listened to concubine oh and ji mong to stay away from the princes not interfere with things history would've stayed the same, but then again it's how it works. Had she not become involved with them, nothing would've changed, but because she went back with prior knowledge of a future that was doomed to change because of this very knowledge she had, she changed things and didn't realize it until it was too late. But then if she knew beforehand of the effect she would cause, she couldn't possibly have done the things she did because too many heartbreaks, so yeah tricky I was expecting something like his fron the start to be fair. Not surprising Time travel is too contradictory really. But the drama had its moments, and I love what the king said about who asked if he was dead the person couldn't be trusted, it makes so much sense. And especially scenes with wang soo, he was definitely the star of this show.
I really felt bad for the Prince Consort with autism. :(((He really deserved better, and his death made me cry…
Oh yes, he definitely deserved better! I think that the princess did love him in her own way, but still saw a big opportunity to use wang xxian for her own purposes, and that was really wrong of her. But also I can see he wanting to die by her side, because she was the only person who understood him for a long time, but still, the most tragic character of the drama.
It is a good drama, good in action, mystery, the investigation parts and everything, but it did drag a bit towards the end I think. Maybe it lacked in more development for the main characters, especially sui zhou, but also tang fan I like you and your spirit but you were annoying at times. Though I have to say it was very amusing the way they fought like a married couple haha And dong'er was so smart, you can see she is a promising character. Wang zhi was interesting too, made me think he would backstab people at first but then I quickly realized that no, he is loyal really just has this villain kind of vibes might be his face or the way he speaks Idk. I also liked the emperor, not completely good but not evil either, just a man you can see wants the best for his country, so people like that have to make some questionable decisions soemtimes, or not depending on the point of view. Anyway it's worth a watch!
I can't believe I took all this time to watch this! Many people don't seem to like it, Idk why, it's mostly fast paced, and you have mystery, action, just enough of romance, some comedy, end eps that you keep wanting to watch more, I really like it. The concept is more or less unique and original, though ofc you could say the theme about moving on from past grudges and ressentment and learn forgiveness instead of revenge it's not exactly new, but the atmosphere of the whole series it's really incredible it really is just like a whole secret world. People should give this a try, really. And I think everyone had gripping background stories, and the chemistry between the main leads was good too. Overall it's a good drama.
It's a good drama if you want something light, sweet and short. I mean yeah it does get more cliche later with the villain and the self sacrificing hero, but it's kinda expected considering the genre. It has good moments if you just want a quick break from more complex and bigger plots. Overall, I like it.
This was a weird drama to watch, as it kept me hooked and entertained..... and I enjoyed it, and don't regret…
Actually they married some years after the drama was filmed, but apparently had already dated before filming princess weiyoung and broke up, but it was during the filming or after that they got together again
I really enjoyed this show, very refreshing and different from other historical kdramas even with evil and corrupt politicians, still a different take. And ofc the best part was the queen and the king, their progression was great and you could really see he really fell in love with the king, after all when their ideia aligned it was to be expected I think. A king willing to change the system and someone who came from the future who already lived in a different system, despite the similarities about ambition and power of people. And I did think byung in would redeem himself eventually towards the end, and I'm glad I was right.
I like the ending, I don't think it was bad at all, yeah so they fell in love but they still belonged in different times, it's okay. It's more realistic like that actually.
Anyway hope they learn form Mr queen and do more dramas with this formula.
So in the end she wasn't really her biological mother, but I wish they had a backstory for who her mother truly was. And yeah when he asked to be left alone I knew wan soo would commit suicide, typical. But even with the somewhat open ending, we might not even get a second season who knows right?
Why people keep saying this? No he didn't. I don't think any of the times he goes to her room, he raped her. And not even when they were both locked by his grandmother, at best they both became affected by the aphrodisiacs and did it. But we don't see anything.
Well, the political parts are more or less predictable as in most drama of this genre, but still liked to know he emperor was no fool and always knew gao was lying form the start.
The romance was good overall (melodramatic but expected) but I knew it would end a tragedy (with this trope again it's only expected), so I think after everything they both went through the finale makes sense, because how are you suppose to overcome what happened after remembering everything and go on living a happy life with the one who destroyed your life? I get why she killed herself but I wish we had seen her reaction to her parents death when she got her memories back.
Oh and gu jian was so obsessed with her, even lied about who he was and she believed him so easily, really?! And I still can't tell whether general pei liked xiao feng or mi luo, because sometimes the scene made it look like it was either of them Idk.
Okay, I really just finished this because of yb and yes zly is a good actress too, but she has been in better works before. Maybe if they hadn't rushed to edit to release it would've turned a bit better, but still...
Does anyone know whether there will be a Director's Cut version? I'd really love to see the missing parts... :((…
That's a interesting thought. Was just thinking about watching goodbye my princess cut because people say it's better than the original version, maybe TW could improve some things too If it had a director's cut
I really liked this drama, and yes some things could have been avoided and all but overall a certain lack of logic it's to be expected in a kdrama, usually. But really how can some people not see the chemistry between the leads? I find it baffling really.
Now this is the second drama I watched after flower of evil with Lee joon gi and he is a good actor, actions scenes really suit him, and his cockiness is fun too. Yeah I like it, though I'm sure some people find it annoying so you've been warned.
Also liked the female, and so great how she was introduced, very strong and independent.
