I haven't watched Shen Li, but i have to agree with everything you said. IMO ML is a drawback of this drama and some of the directing of the scenes.
Hopefully things get better but i can definitely see where you are coming from. The FL is my lifeline for this show lol wish this plot got backed by a bigger budget
