You're welcome! I actually enjoyed this drama more than I though I would, as I didn't had any high expectations after seeing the animation, which is one of the best China has produced. Regarding this, The Untamed now has a score of 7.9 on Douban (one of the most popular websites in China) which is really high! There is even a topic on baidu on how this drama topped any other from this genre, so I think it does really well! There were some controversies at the beginning because fans thought that the directors made Wen Qing the love interest of Wei Ying, and they kinda boycotted the show (also the reason of why the actress is not present in many interviews or stuff like that). I cannot find any info regarding profits, but the forums said that the popularity of the lead actors had reached new pecks!!

For chapters 1-20 here:https://www.sakhyulations.com/novel/heaven-officials-blessing/ and for the rest until the end, at this link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1oXnp5Y2OD70i78utu4BcQ3xgAlygypd0 I know for sure that HOB will be adapted into an animation, maybe in 2020. At the earliest though... As for live action, I have read on some Chinese websites that the directors are in the casting period and trying to find somebody to fit Xie Lian. I have also read that they are actually finding it problematic with creating a good background regarding certain aspects like the Ghost City ( In China there is a censorship regarding undead, zombies and stuff like that and they will need to go around that, I guess))) Soo..I think there will be one, considering the popularity of the novel, which is bigger than MDZS, but it will take some years. The Untamed has been into production for around 3 years before releasing and there was no delay in the broadcast, which many dramas unfortunately suffer from.

Though I have enjoyed The Untamed/Mo Dao Zu Shi and it will always have a spot in my heart:X , I believe that HOB is so much better developed as the author improved a lot! If I'm not mistaken, it also has the most hits on the Chinese website where it was published. Both have that ancient, historical, fantasy feeling to them, but the love in HOB is one of the greatest I have ever read! Don't wanna spoil too much, but...let's say that the lead characters, Xie Lian and Hua Cheng are similar with Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhan:))) but so much complex since the plot happens over 600 years!! Man...Hua Cheng is patient! If you thought that Lan Zhan is great for waiting 13 years... then HuaCheng is the greatest:))) The author really likes to make her characters to suffer, and Xie Lian suffers as much as Wei Ying. I started reading it after I saw these videos which are simply stunning: 1.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LNaP37yMz4&t=178s 2.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oq2PEeuZUvk and the song with illustrations for almost all important characters https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PphgoUuLEuI&list=PLVRoofylWDKtpY4i6zZ7kyJycesv3S2_L&index=32&t=0s

If you haven't yet, you should definitely read Heaven's Official Blessing, the author's latest novel. It's completed with a whooping 244 chapters+ which, because of lovely dedicated fans, is already fan translated into English! Just google fanart with the Xie Lian/HuaCheng words in the search box and it will be easier to visualize the main characters

It's so hard to give a recommendation...It's actually frustrating that I also have nothing to watch that can actually compare to The Untamed since it's one of a kind. Chinese dramas are kinda typical most of them,,like: romance triangle, bad cliche and the custom of actually ruining secondary characters. I do recommend though, Nirvana in Fire which also has a sequel. Very good drama with no plot holes, justice to all characters, good filmography and actors. Though it's more political themed with revenge and brotherhood feelings and you may have to watch more than 2 episodes before deciding if you wanna give it a go, since the story is complex. From my understanding, the original version of the novel also had at the beginning a BL theme, but the author revised it and morphed it towards brotherhood.

:))) Lolz, there are, I think 13-14 extras:)) But...they are way more BL than the rest of the story..like..they actually get intimate with each other and what not:))<...< And there are also some more plot-orientated short stories with corpses and things like that.

They adapted the whole novel:) Except the extras, which are..well..way to BL for China censorship to ever be filmed:)))
While I don't think they will do a second season since all the novel has been adapted ( unless they want to make extra original stories for it to continue), they will make a short movie that already has a trailer. But it is centered on Wen Ning and A-Yuan:) There isn't yet a release date. As for the ending..it's different, but also good, in my opinion. Many people see it as an open-ending, but not me:))

Hi:)) At the end of the novel nobody is chosen as the next Chief . Lan Wangji just elopes with Wei Ying and go from time to time to solve different mysteries as seen in the extras stories. The author of the novel said in an interview that if there was a continuation, the next chief cultivator that she would chose would be Nie Huaisang, as he has the means and the smarts to do a good job and do things the right way, as opposing to his predecessors (Wen Ruohan and Meng Yao). From what I remember, Lan Zhan's bro, Lan Xichen goes into seclusion after the novel end, because he feels guilty of being at fault with the deaths of his sworn brothers, Nie Mingjue and Meng Yao. In the drama, though, they chose Lan Wangji as the Chief Cultivator, but it seems to be implied that it was for a short while as he did go to search and meet Wei Wuxian again, at the final end of the drama.

Why are Jiang Cheng and xichen shipped together ? Is there any story abt them liking each other ?
LOL;)) Jiang Cheng is also banned from the dating list of the ladies`.` And it was actually mentioned in the novel, sooo...I guess he is being so angry that no girl would dare to date him:)) Fans go the BL way due to this also, I think.

Title The Untamed Spoiler
After WY fell off from the cliff at nevernights ,was his body later discovered by LZ ? Then he went to burial…
Hope I'm not confusing the plot from the novel and the drama, since they are slightly different in details...but, from what I remember, Wei Wuxian's body was never discovered. I know for sure that in the novel the body was destroyed when he tried to destroy his artifact, the Stygian thingy. LZ found Wen Yuan after the last battle, after the rest of the Wen's were already tortured and dead. He actually returned to check for himself if Wei Ying was actually dead. As for the soul..that was never really explained. Since he was able to come back in Mo Xuanyu's body, then it means that his soul was complete. Also, WW also said at one point that he doesn't remember if somebody ever tried to burn paper money for him (traditional Chinese custom as a funeral offering to the dead one). So for sure his soul was ok, but he simply refused to appear...maybe:))

JGY's reaction when he realizes that he got played by NHS is priceless. When you think about it, NHS is truly the…
True! While very similar with each other, NHS and JGY are different in regards of their purpose: While NHS is driven by his desire to revenge his brother (which in the novel, the murder is even more horrible due to the fact that JGY actually dismembers NMJ and destroys his soul, making reincarnation impossible) and having the rest of the cultivation world know the truth, JGY is purely driven by his inferiority feelings which grow over time being filled with resentment (being a prostitute's son unrecognizable by his own father). In one way, implicating LXC in giving the killing stab is also some sort of punishment for LXC because in an indirect way, not only did the Song of Turmoil came from the Lan Sect, but also LXC always defended his other sworn brother in front of NMJ...Man...The author of the novel did a brilliant story! I read in one interview that the author would have made NHS as the next Chief Cultivator because he has all the means to do a better job than his predecessors:))

Hahaha! No problem! After LanZhan waiting so many years for Wei Ying and singing inquiry so many times to check if his soul is ok, I doubt that he would return just to leave again. The directors of this drama tried as best they could to follow the novel as much as possible, so the ending is quite fitting and happy for me :)) unlike many other Chinese dramas which are known for bad endings:))

For the novel, which is a BL novel, Wei Ying and Lan Zhan become cultivation partners and it is even implied in the extras from the novel that they got married. In the drama, we can see in the last minutes how they actually split up, but then, we also see a scenery change and Wei Wuxian hearing Lan Zhan calling his name. When Wei Wuxian turns around, he starts smiling and the drama ends. So my guess is that there is s little time skip and then they reunite!

Hmm...I wouldn't say that it is an open ending though. I mean..it is obvious that they couldn't do the ending from the novel because of censorship from China. I will add another comment with an small ending spoiler from the last minute from the drama, in case you want to risk it and read it:D
