its because theyre in highschool. in china, law prevents young people/minors/highschool students to display any kind of romance to be shown on television/public

up to the current episodes theyre still in highschool; if i remember correctly, i think china law states that explicit romance between high-schoolers are not to be shown publicly (im not 100% sure, if im wrong hope someone corrects me). but u can tell they like each other up to now

well atleast to me i think HL is really about the development between the two leads relationship whereas WIFTY speaks about love love relationship, friend friend relationship, and familial relationships!

to be honest, its probably just for the story but i don't think it was not common especially in smaller cities. i was born in 2003 in a smaller city in guangdong and had a little brother as well and we lived there fine for around 5 yrs before moving abroad for schooling
