Dropping by this page once in a while since the beginning of time hoping to see the release date and getting my…
If it doesn't release this August, I won't believe any rumors even a tiny bit until I see the first episode release. Else, there'll definitely be rumors for April and August 2024 like clockwork.
This has to be the first drama where I remember the native title (哥哥你别跑 - Don't run, brother.), over the English title since so many dramas are concurrently airing with the word "Stay" in their title.
That said, I've been loving everything so far! I love found family dramas and school life dramas, and this drama just nails all that is lovely about these genres.
No, Nirvana in Fire (2015) held the previous record for the highest rated cdrama on MDL (9.1), which Hidden Love overtook. The Untamed holds the record for the most popular CDrama on MDL (85k watchers).
The Untamed's success is quite hard to recreate. 4 years after its release, you can still see some of its impact on several platforms. It had a 9.5 rating on MDL, which lasted for 2 months after it aired, and it holds a high 7.7 rating on 豆瓣电影 (the IMDB of China), where it holds the highest recorded raters for a cdrama, with almost 2 million people (1,741,863) that rated the drama. Most dramas are considered immensely successful there if it can even reach 400,000 raters, but it has almost 5x that. Hidden Love currently has 128,633 raters with a 6.7 rating.
Wow, it's been more than two years since I accidentally discovered this gem while it was airing. Time sure goes by fast but the impact this drama had on me prevails. From acting as an introduction to reading novels as a hobby (which I still do every day, for two years now) and everything else, I think I'll always treasure The Untamed.
Aotons, you [and all users] can submit a modified/improved synopsis.
Thank you so much! Actually, may I bother you of changing it back to the original? This one seems controversial to some so it's safe sticking with the summary given by the broadcasting channel, Tencent. It worked fine for months and the last thing I want to do is ruin my favorite drama for others.
Should I personally make a suggestion again or can I bother you? ♡
The previous synopsis was:
Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji are two completely different people from two different worlds. Lan Wangji was born in the prominent Sect of the Gusu Lan. Due to his great achievements and reputation, he gained the title Hanguang-Jun, which means the light holder. He was seen as a hero, the role model of everyone in the cultivation world and is known to appear wherever chaos is. While Wei Wuxian, the Yiling Patriarch, was a name that was feared by everyone. He has done many heroic things in his life, but also really cruel ones, such as killing thousands of people and even causing the death of those who saw him as family. In the end, Wei Wuxian was "killed" by his best friend and only survivor of the Yunmeng Jiang Sect, Jiang Cheng, who was once like a brother to him, after he became too evil for the world to exist. At least that is what the legend says.
Sixteen years after his so-called “death”, Wei Wuxian suddenly reappeared again at the Mo Village. Between the boundary of good and evil, was Wei Wuxian really as evil as the legend says and was Lan Wangji really that righteous as people claim him to be? And how much of the legend is actually true?
Based on "Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation" by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu
Join a forum for The Untamed. Tu parle français? Tout a besoin de bons commentaires et de mauvais commentaires, mais tu arrêtes tout le monde. Ce n'est pas le site pour ça :/
Ce n'est pas une bonne réponse en anglais (du tout). This section is to express opinions and you're blocking people from doing so. Just say "I disagree" or say nothing at all. They say "the action scenes suck" and you're like "no, I think YOU suck", do you not see something wrong with that?
Sure, I see where you're coming from though. For Netflix, it's great but mentioning his death and reincarnation would be good too. Combing the summaries of Tencent, MXTX, and Netflix would probably be the best.
Something like: As the grandmaster who founded the Demonic Sect, Wei WuXian roamed the world in his wanton ways, hated by millions for the chaos he created. In the end, he was "killed" by his dearest senior brother after he became too evil for the world to exist.
At least that is what the legend says.
Sixteen years later, Wei WuXian incarnates into the body of an abandoned lunatic and reunites with a famous cultivator among the clans—Lan WangJi. Together, the two soulmates face treacherous schemes and uncover a dark mystery linked to a tragic event in the past. (Source: Netflix, Tencent, ExiledRebels)
Based on the novel "Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation" by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu.
Recently there seems to be many time travel dramas released, maybe web dramas are not that strict?
Honestly, they're just working their way around it. In Joy of Life, they don't time travel but instead put an author who writes a novel about time travelling(?). This is second-hand information since I haven't gotten around to watching it.
Web dramas are definitely less strict though, comes at the cost of a low-budget..
I edited my previous comment to remove the flaws part. That'd be great tbh, I don't know anyone who can change it. I also think there's a lot of unnecessary text on the poster but that's honestly a Tencent thing. I agree :^)
I'm the same. I loved the Netflix blurb too, it's short and sweet but got the feelings. I prefer the poster here, mid-action shots (especially with fabric) are my absolute favorite.
I tried to spam that entire episode with warnings on viki, it caught me off guard too yikes.
True but this is a comment section and people should be able to comment whatever thoughts, especially when it's relevant to the episodes. This is very much a common phobia so it could be scarier than the horror scenes aforementioned. I want to throw up at the gatherings of little holes, no matter the vfx quality.

You're not alone at all! Though I don't have the phobia, the extremely uncomfortable feeling is still there ♥ That's so funny, I remember laughing at the snortoise and snurtle comments in episode 14. I watched episode 30 right when it got subbed so the comments were rather empty, thus no warnings about the holes )^: Are you referring to the lotus pods (PLEASE do not search this up ew); basically the long-stemmed plant with a bunch of seeds on top.

In this case, I'm stating Tencent summarized TU rather poorly. By the way, I can be super critical -- even for dramas I rate 10.
