It's really not difficult to do best than Melting softly or King Eternal Monarch.
I even consider it's difficult to do worst.

Problem here is not the "grotesque reality of severe mental illness". I'm okay with that. Problem is boring and grotesque writing + directing.

The good news is, if I drop the drama, I won't piss off the world in the comments... ^^

Oh, I get it.
It's sad that the audience is attacking this character.
For one thing, she's just a character, pretty consistent.
And the lead actress is very good in the role, too bad.

I really felt my intelligence was insulted.
That's just awful.
Just the last scene, the slow motion when the car hits something and particles are ejected. Then the escapee from the mental hospital who starts dancing in slow motion with distorted background music. God, that made me want to puke.
Every part where the episode wasn't boring had that level of bullshit.
It's not really a fairy tale, but it's the worst that can come out of an ugly, artificial and grotesque production.
What a calamity.
I'm sincere, the first two episodes already had this flaw, but only slight.
I really thought this drama had potential.
Now it becomes obscene exibition.
It's possible to avoid a semi-procedural script, but... you have to have ideas, ah ah!

I've no problem with the female lead, I like the character.
Problem is the... the... how can I call that ?
So boring episode, and otherwise grotesque, bad taste, shrill scenes.
Episode 1 and 2 wasn't to this point!

It's almost the same thing, HDL's ghost stories had the same function: to feed the look on the main characters. So, procedural show.

This drama is a nightmare (in a good way).
I've rarely seen anything so disgusting.
Very good makjang with elaborate writing (the structure of the script is obviously prepared in advance, unlike the old makjang that added twists and turns out of nowhere).
The lead actress is very good, and of course my favourite actress Park Ha Na too, in a poisonous role. Her mother and the other supporting characters are good too. A drama far better than "Mysterious Personal Shopper" for now, whose supporting characters were boring.

The "literary" style change was useless, so rude and easy to discern.

Seo Ye Ji was already a good actress, but her cold physique or the writing of her characters didn't suit her.
Here, on the other hand, everything is perfect.
My impression is that this is her best role. I haven't seen her older dramas though.

Tae Joon's mom is such a walking disaster.
She's involved in triggering the worst situations in the drama.
The character is damn well written.

That's an interesting opinion, although I find it a little too enthusiastic. The question of what makes a good first episode is rarely discussed, so thank you for doing so.
The very first scene is indeed one of the best. Not the first 20 minutes or the whole episode. Detailing point by point would be a bit long, and would require a lot of comparison examples. However, it was perhaps the best choice of exposure for the drama scenario. It's impossible to know, you would have to have seen the whole drama, and think about other options. There are the essentials for attracting the spectator to the drama, that's enough.
And you're right, some dramas with very good visuals can be also very boring. Difficult to find the good balance. I rely first about the story, not visuals.

Kang So Ra stole the show.

I saw Inception again a few days ago. It was pretty funny after I suffered TKEM.
I can say that Inception is the complete opposite of TKEM.
In this movie, the set-up is perfect, and takes the first 50 minutes, while being attractive. The universe and the rules are laid out in a clear, logical and spectacular way. This allows the spectator to be immersed in the rest of the film, which regularly benefits from additional explanations or unambiguous visuals.
Everything that TKEM has been unable to do. Not only that, but the drama did the perfect opposite. Almost all the plot-twists were trashed because of the lack of clarity. Plot-twist in small numbers, by the way. TKEM's storytelling is zero.
Any science fiction fan like me has no chance of appreciating a mess like this.

To finish, the manhwa must eliminate either the hero or all the antagonists.
The last scene shows Kang Chul dying, but that's not the real reason why the manhwa ends. Oh Sung Moo eliminated Han Chul Ho, one of the antagonists. The scene is not shown in the manhwa because it's out of context. Then he drives to the end scene and sees his daughter. At this point, he disintegrates because he didn't follow the logic that should have been his character's (being a antagonist). He helped the hero instead of eliminating him. The manhwa come at the end. No more antagonists.
Kang Chul's return to the real world : During the scene of the interrogation, Do Yoon had revealed a piece of information to Han Chul Ho (it is assumed that Kang Chul had told him before). Kang Chul had guessed that at the end of the manhwa, the surviving character (hero or antagonist) could travel freely between worlds. Certainly because the character no longer has to endure the law of manhwa requiring an end of chapter.
I think this is all good, but I regret that the screenwriter didn't explain more about the phenomena during the second half of the drama. Or sometimes it is explained, but a little too quickly, it should have been recapitulated a bit and helped the viewer more.
