My goodness. We made it though 1/2 a first semester at uni and there isn't a campus moon competition, hazing, school smock, gear...and when kids want to join clubs they aren't made to do ice-breakers. What universities are these?
Feel bad for the guy cast as Teh's roommate. We may never see him again.
Oab with decent hair for a change. Gosh, he's really become handsome since Hormones. He's probably into Teh...but its kind of hard to tell. I hope its not so straightforward as Oh-Aew hooks up with Q and Teh with Jai just because those were the first two guys they happened to interact with.
Ooh, its set in 2021 and will go on for a few years. So we'll see what life is going to be like in 2024. Hopefully there will be flying cars and personal robots. And self-tying shoes. Gotta be self-tying shoes.
Anyway, I find the transition to a new director just fine. This was probably the most anticipated first episode of any BL series since Season 2 of Love Sick and I think they landed it.
I’m confused so Pi is afraid his mom will find out he likes guys? But when has his mom ever disapprove of him…
His mom doesn't know. Or didn't know. Its not like Pi has been discussing his love for Nan at the table. I think Pi was right not to have that discussion with his mom, because he had just been Friendzoned by Nan. She would want to know who this "Special Someone" is and the last thing Pi would have wanted to discuss at that moment is his failure with Nan.
Pi doesn't really like himself all that much. Part of that might be because he doesn't feel like he measures up to his brother and he is very hard on himself because of that. He's trying to become perfect in every way probably because he feels that being gay is going to disappoint other people. He's very much driven by a fear of failure (he admits as much to Mork in the rain). Yeah, his parents seem to be relatively hands off with their children (otherwise Duen would be ostracized from the family), but Pi can't know how they will react for sure. So he's transferring his feelings of disappointment with himself to them. Its not that uncommon. He wants to be perfect in every way except that one way, and its frustrating him to no end that he isn't capable of doing that.
Lol after a night of drinking , I wake up a mess ....Pi on the other hand : waking up flawless ... >.
I think it helps that a 1/2 shot gets him drunk. Used to take me 4-5 margaritas to get me as drunk as he was with a few sips of what’s probably just a sprinkle of vodka mixed with a pint of cool aid.
MaiEak strikes me as the kid who still was enjoying games of peek-a-boo at 12 years old. There’s goldfish out there with more developed working memory.
Normally I’m a bit out off by guys in these BLs who are still wearing children’s PJs to be cutesie and safe. But Meen bringing those on the camping trip just makes me laugh.
So next week we meet the Golden Son. Given the looks of all the other actors on the show, he really better be special.
What was the contract that Sib was signing at the end?Did Tiffy quit as a manager bc of the live that Aey did…
You’ll have to guess exactly why Tiffy quit on Aey as she never said why. It could be because he did the live feed without contacting her. It could be because she likes Gene and Sib more. Or she’s tired of his crying all the time. I think the reason they did the passive aggressive “if you don’t know, then I’m not going to tell you” bit was that if she told us why, we’d know how dumb and irrational and unprofessional her reasons were. So if you like Tiffy you can give her an honorable reason. If you don’t, you can note that she’s really bad at her job.
Tum and Tiffy’s management company is going to fail. Tum doesn’t want to be a manager and is only doing it to be near Tiffy. Tiffy is really bad at her job. Poor Sib. He should have read his news contract.
A lot has happened to me in the past few years and I have some ideas for my sequel to Lovely Writer that I'd like to share with you.
1) Love3 Free Writer To fulfill his promise made to his father, Sib goes to buy property. Unfortunately, its owned by a young man named Shin, a wealthy real estate developer with some sketchy connections to the underworld. As they get to know each other, Sib learns about the pleasures of polyamory and returns home with a woman named Mew who wants to start a family with us.
2) Count to Tien Bromance Tiffy and Tum book Sib on a series in Vietnam, where we meet to men at the airport and we end up fighting human traffickers, being attacked by demons and generally getting our butts beaten in week after week.
3) Only Actor Sib doesn't read his contract (again) and ends up having to host a series once a week on a subscription adult video platform as their spokesman. There he reunites with Aoey, who has fallen on hard times since Lovely Writer. There's not much character development here. Sib is too dumb to notice that Tum and Tiffy are really bad at their jobs if he ends up in the same situation as Aoey who is represented by no one. We break up when I demand he break his contract, but honestly, I don't mind watching all that much.
Let me know what you think. I think we can work in lots of the kinds of scenes you really like. I'll be dropping in Tuesday to discuss.
Can't believe this will be my last post on this series. Is it May already!?!? I they closed out Gene's story. Lovely Writer was finished. The fans love it. He's actually happy with it. Bua seems to have freed him to write what he wants from now on. And gets a boyfriend to boot. So all of the problems he faced in ep. 1 are closed. Its been a remarkable journey for him where he's learned a lot about himself, overcome some of his personal anxieties, tested his limits, reached into his past to rectify a problem with his father, and sometimes almost failed. I liked even free to write what he wanted, he still couldn't finish the novel without Sib there. Because he wanted the story to end with them together. That said, Gene should NOT allow Sib input into his future novels as Sib's ideas are awful. Funny but awful. Stick to modeling, kiddo.
I can't say much about Sib. I guess all I can say is that they withstood the test of separation and still loved each other. But Sib was never much of a character for me. I guess he learned something along the way, but I'm not sure what it was. I thought it would be "don't sign contracts and expect to get out of them." or "Maybe I should be more mindful that other people might take advantage of me when my mind is focused on other goals." Who knows. I like Sib and Gene together, but he's always seemed more like a problem for Gene to deal with than a character.
I really like the scenes with Hin and Gene in the last two episodes. Kenji and Up have great friend chemistry together. No, I'm not shipping them. They just acted well together. I really like their last scene together this episode where they are sitting on the floor and Gene thanks him for stickign by him. Yay! Hin gets what he wants out of the story. I wish we would have been able to peer into his novel a bit more, since its implied that its about Hin and Gene.
Tum and Tiffy - ugh. Who cares. Tum never wanted to be a manager and was tired of being bossed around by his sister and he...ends up working in a job he says he hates so he can be close to his girlfriend. Something's not right there. I thought Tiffy was very unprofessional the way she dumped Aey and the fact that she couldn't or wouldn't say why is that once again her reasons would be dumb. Like at least say "you went and created an online scandal when you knew your social media appearances need to be approved by me." but whatever. Everyone hates Aoey because...reasons...I guess you're supposed to go into acting because you are chasing tail like Sib. Wanting to do it because you want money and fame...is unheard of and just wrong. What?
I honestly think Aoey and Mork just sort of fell apart behind the scenes. So unfortunately Aoey is just depressed and eating flowers. I guess that's fitting, although he was set up to be something more. Not the first series where this has happened.
I really hope I'm not the only one who thought Mork was a worthless character. Like, what did he actually do that…
Nah. I like the main story a lot. But the side couples ... it was like they handed the side couples characters to a C- high school student and had him write that script. I do remember that the release date of this series was postponed and I’m guessing that during the delay they lost Chap.
Never thought I'd be leaving a comment like this on a show that I enjoyed thoroughly week after week, but... here…
That flower eating is a reference to something. I’ve seen it before, I just can’t remember where. Anyway, I’m thinking what happened here is that Pond went off to shoot Fish Upon the Sky and wasn’t available to reshoot. So basically Aeoy/Bruce got stood up at the altar, as it were. I’m not even 100% certain that was Pond at the press conference. If it was, I don’t think the actor was actually there the day of the shooting. He was shot and inserted in. While it’s fine that Aoey ends up alone, he probably wasn’t supposed to end up alone the way he did.
The writing makes no sense. Just tell everyone Sib & Gene are childhood friends. It's easily verifiable and everyone…
Yeah. Sib is behaving like a character who hasn't bought into the stakes because he's rich. I think a large part of the audience hasn't bought into the actual stakes for Gene - which, going back to Ep. 1 is to write a follow up BL novel to Bad Engineer that he can take pride in. Unfortunately, he's wrapped his personal life into the novel he's written so now that his personal life is a mess is a mess, his ability to complete the novel is also at risk. While he initially wanted to walk away from Bad Engineer and wanted nothing to do with the production of his novel, the success of that series and all the drama on that set is getting in the way of finishing Lovely Writer. (Honestly, do you think Bua is going to publish it if her Board is angry with Gene for messing up the relationship they have with the media company? Book sales are great, but book sales + licensing is much much better.) Plus, even if he can finish it and publish it and it sells well (because who wouldn't read a tell all scandal novel), its not going to bring him a lot of pride. Anyway, those are the actual stakes at the moment for Gene personally. That Sib doesn't quite get why that would be important to Gene is why they are fighting.
Whats wrong with the sound effects?? I havent sfarted watching it yet, I'm waiting for all the eps to come out…
Thai comedy uses a lot of zings and boings and horns. In the first few episodes they decided to put a boing and a beep with every movement. As the story moves into a more dramatic area, they tone it down. Many viewers found the sound effects off putting. I’m used to it by now, so I didn’t notice it.
An insightful, in depth view into the lives of same sex couples in historic Jeoson... o.k. Who am I kidding. it wasn’t that at all. But I still enjoyed it, although I have to admit it felt like I was watching a side couple story in a larger family saga. If this series were glommed onto a 30 hour epic as some light refreshment away from a heavier main storyline on KBS, we’d probably be overjoyed that BL had jumped into the Korean mainstream. But as a stand alone series, it needed more time and more characters to fill it out.
