In the grand scheme of things, Yu Shi Gu truly won. Imagine getting lucky enough to find someone as loyal, caring, respectful, and devoted to you as Hao Ting on your FIRST try.....they don't make men like that anymore
Like Hao Ting desires Shi Gu in a way he's never experienced, like at all, and all Shi Gu did was exist. Must be nice. We've come so far from the beginning, I still cant believe this was the same guy, and his friend group, that used to dislike Shi Gu
Rant (personal opinion): With the way people judge this drama, you would think there was a perfect BL series from start to finish and this was bottom of the barrel worst drama ever produced, when thats simply not the case. I guess people came in with their Trapped lense and expected this drama to be top tier, but I mean everyone, or at least I thought, knew the writer changed and from the 5 min teaser, you could get a sense of what the drama was gonna be about, so I guess sorry to those who were disappointed.
But Idk, I actually have no problem with people not liking the drama. Not everyone is gonna like everything. There are plenty of "overrated" dramas I like and plenty I don't like and don't get me wrong MODC is not without its flaws. I believe the drama would have been better if it was longer because there haven't actually been any unnecessary scenes, just scenes that maybe could've been better executed. I can definitely tell the writers had a story to tell cause when you really watch, they don't miss the little detail, but the 45min time constraint and 10 episode limit is what held them back. I actually think its ironic cause I felt like trapped was too long, while I feel like this was too short
Anywho back to my point, the flaws aside, what stood out to me was the chemistry between the actors, and I mean CHEMISTRY, and how they strayed away from cliches. Like I said I like that there wasn't drama for dramas sake or villains just for there to be villains. It's simply just a slice of life drama and that's perfectly fine. No one's real life is filled with constant drama (unless of course your living conditions and environment is drama filled) but in this case, a normal Taiwanese teens' life is just focused on friends, family, relationships, and college.
My issue lies with the way people have been bashing this drama since the teaser dropped like they were set out on a mission. From bashing the actors looks, when I'm sure in real life half of yall don't look like models, to coming here every week to leave new asinine comments about shyt that don't make sense (Like imagine getting upset at Xi Gu's star metaphor, A METAPHOR, and saying its not realistic if you've studied astrology, WILD). I've gone under other comments of dramas airing and seen actual critics, but here it just feels like bashing for hatings sake.
I watch this aweful drama just because of Wilson, he should get the main role, he have a lot of talent and beauty,…
you have a disgusting obsession and I truly need you to seek help. There are opinions and there's yours. We get it, you hate the drama. You've already left your review, so move on back to Tharntype
I know some people were let down by the "sex" scene but I honestly thought the whole scene was perfect and matched their character development so well. HT was adamant about making their first time more than perfect and the way they made it so romantic, with Xi Gu finally confessing his true feelings and being the first one to say I love you, without the explicitness, embodied what HT wanted for their first time. I don't know how to word it, but I loved that scene so much, definitely top 5.
Yes, all of the above! I think the intimate scenes in this show are so much more realistic than some Thai BL shows…
ugh I completely agree with this. With such limited budget and episode time crunch, this story has honestly exceeded my expectations that even I wonder how much more amazing it could have been had they been able to flesh out even more parts of the characters and their relationships even through all the time skips. I saw someone do a timeline of events on the Amino app and as of episode 8, its been 6 months since the story started, 4 months of semi-dating between the leads, and 1 day of offically dating. So Hao Ting being so horny actually makes sense with how long theyve been together.
it looks like theyre uncle and nephew, from what I gathered. ZG is the his mom's brother
No, we didnt really get anything about their families in SAFM, but the guy says that he and his mom misses him, calls him uncle, and etc. I just made an inference...also think they built the story and made the connection for MoDC so we could get the cameo
When they were kissing on the couch in XHT's house, YXG enjoyed that. He even deepened the kiss and then started…
I think it's more like it's one thing to be making out and feeling on someone's chest, it's another thing to have someone actually touching your privates and in Xi Gu's case, also being the one that gets penetrated. Almost everyone is like that and even I was. There's a level of vulnerability that comes with sex and making out with someone isn't on that level. The HJ scene was what really opened Xi Gu's eyes to the reality of it and I think the writers also purposely included the fever scene to show how strong Hao Ting really is and that could've added to the fear Xi Gu was experiencing.
it's actually pretty realistic cause it's his first time compared to Hao Ting who's so experienced.
Im here after rewatching the episode again for the 5th time lmao, like other series start out good in the beginning then lose steam as it gets closer to the end, yet MODC started out really slow and got better and better with each episode, wow I honestly prefer it like this. 4 episodes left and I cant wait
I know a while back someone was talking about what other conflicts there'll be and based on the teaser for next episode and scenes in this episode, its definitely gonna be sex. Hao Ting is someone who's experienced and has had sexual partners (i.e his gf and scene in episode 1), while Shi Gu has never been in love with anyone and hasn't had sex, so the dynamic of someone experienced dating someone that's a "virgin", I like that its very realistic because Shi Gu is very outwardly nervous and hesitant about it, while HT is very forward, but doesn't force him. It would be nice if in the next episode they actually have a conversation about it, but I have high hopes that they'll handle it well
And Kudos to the actors. ShiGu's expression was so spot on when he got "served" by Hao Ting's hand. I can't imagine…
JZ did a really good job in that scene, from the blushing to the shock and confusion. Like we know HT is experienced and has had sex before, but Shi Gu has never done anything sexual with anyone else, so JZ was really able to capture all of that and I commend him for it.
I love this series so much and to be honest I like it more than Trapped. I think Trapped was too serious and intense…
I definitely think this is one of the best done high school centered BLs and it because of how well the actors, every one of them, embody being in high school
Also wanna say, confession time, I rarely like how a lot of BL dramas do their kissing scenes because im almost always reminded that these are 2 straight dudes acting, but Wayne and Juan Zhi are such good kissers, like its not excessive to be overly sexy/messy, but they just kiss lovingly and I love it so much. Like I genuinely want to ship the actors in real life cause they look so in love on screen AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I know people dont like the whole "Im not gay, I only like you" trope but can you really be mad when they both feel that way about each other? Shi Gu literally tells Hao Ting he doesnt like guys, so like they're each other's exceptions lmao. Also yes, bisexuality, pansexuality, etc exists. Neither of them has to be tied down by "gay"
Like Hao Ting desires Shi Gu in a way he's never experienced, like at all, and all Shi Gu did was exist. Must be nice. We've come so far from the beginning, I still cant believe this was the same guy, and his friend group, that used to dislike Shi Gu
