Yes because as much as he loves her and has maybe even dreamed of a happy life and marriage with her - having children with her. It’s more important to him to protect her and everything else that means so much to him like the legacy of his father, auntie, grandmother and that mountain. He would rather sacrifice his happiness to create a safe world for her instead of keeping her captive to the responsibility he has to bear. He seems like the type that would only have her as his wife but that won’t work for what he has planned. His life and path will lead to political marriages and his time being given to the kingdom and he loves her too much to hold her hostage to all that. The sacrifice he is making here is deep even to the degree of becoming a villain in the eyes of some, he’s willing to do it if the end result is her carefree happiness and joy. Whew that’s love!!! That is real mature authentic love. Whew my heart is racing thinking about it.

I agree wholeheartedly. The acting is top notch for real!! Superb. And I certainly feel this character is misunderstood and under appreciated because to me the love he has for her is a very mature kind love. It takes a certain level of self awareness and maturity to do what he is doing. His movement is very unselfish in regards to her. Unselfish and genuine.
Maybe it’s just me because I pay attention to subtle nuisances but CX displeasure with alll the men floating around the love of his life is so evident. You see the conflict on his face and hear it in his voice. He loves her so much and wants to be with her but his ambition has him in a choke hold so even though he wants her he is gritting his teeth through the decision he made to be a good brother. Oh but it’s killing him and the dude portraying him is doing well to show that in his face, body language and his voice. For example the swallow when he is talking to Fenglong asking him to talk to his sister for him in episode 27. That mannnn is acting his butt off which makes me love him more.

They all definitely are good choices. Xiang Liu however just does something to meeeee!!! His presence on the screen. The tension, mischief, attentiveness, and passion he exudes in every scene he is present in. Then the two puppy characters Jing and the 4th. I haven’t learned his name yet but they are just adorable puppies. And then Cang Xuan is intense one moment and a bag of mushy puppy around the FL. He is like a perfect mix of the other 3 dudes. I won’t say he’s got the level of passionate intensity of Xiang Liu but whew you can see it in his eyes. I am enthralled!!!!
