Don't Take My Word For It

Reading about the casting news of Lee Jun Hyuk and Han Ji Min for this romance comedy drama already had me looking forward to its first episode. As I've mentioned again and again on my X account, I had no expectations for this drama... because seeing the visuals (individually and as a pair) of Lee Jun Hyuk and Han Ji Min on a weekly basis was enough for me.

What if the story starts off well and ends up a disappointment?
What if the writing for the main and supporting characters would turn out poorly?
What if the story would focus too much on the romance that it becomes cringe?
What if the female lead starts off badass and ends up too soft after falling in love?
What if the drama won't do well ratings-wise?

Heck, I don't care. Seeing Lee Jun Hyuk, whose visuals is perfect for romance but was never casted for one (until Love Scout, that is), in heart-fluttering scenes is enough. Seeing the beautiful Han Ji Min, who perfectly nails every role she gets, especially the comedic ones, is enough. Mind you, I am not a big fan of either of them. I simply appreciate what they have and what they offer in the dramas they star in. There really isn't much to expect, so even if the answer to all the abovementioned questions were "YES," I would still watch the drama from beginning to end.

So, why the perfect rating?

Because I looked for flaws in the storyline, even into the thought processes of the characters, the significance of the side stories and relatability of the scouting and HR experiences portrayed, and found none.

Because I looked for flaws in the development of the romance between the lead characters, their relationships with the other characters in the drama, and the cliches and tropes found in it, and found none.

Because it has been 5 years since I last enjoyed EVERY SONG in a drama OST and Love Scout gave me a 10/10 song list, perfectly suited for every scene the songs played over.

Because it completely set the standard for romance dramas too high for me that I could not finish watching the rom-com K-dramas I started after watching Love Scout.

Because watching clips of the couple scenes, romantic or otherwise, still gives me the flutters.

I have NEVER given any drama, even those of my actor bias', a 10/10 rating. But hey, don't take my word for it. Perfect 10 ratings are just too unrealistic and biased. Just go ahead and watch Love Scout and see for yourself.

P.S. I say "You're welcome" in advance.
