Taiga dramas are new for me. They are not relatable to modern glamour of cdramas or kdramas. They look like dramas from 20 years ago. It feels like a play with a set stage. The only glamour is our main couple. Thats familiar the rest dont look for it. I like it. Its not binge worthy but it is a steady story and you want to finish it.
I am completely ignorant of the Shogun period but I am history enthusiast and I want to know what the heck Japan was doing in Medival times. Alot is going on so centralizing this period around 2 people grounds it. See you when I finish.
I surprised myself. It was 4th sister and 4th brother in law. Why? When her story came about...I thought this was going to be the boring filler episodes before 5th sister.
4th sister surprised me with stellar writing for her character and her husbands character. Her unfallible honesty and resolution to her marriage reminded me that sometimes drama is unnecessary. She knew the man she picked. Honesty was the ONLY way to go. No subterfuge ever. I loved them for this. Thank you writers for such great characters. BTW...when her husband issued Death by Slicing to the murderer...I gasped myself and had to laugh. He never changed even after finding love. China had one of the cruelest punishments known to humankind. Sawing a person in half. It could also be death by a thousand cuts too...lol. Still though.
Overall I loved the attention to the storylines for most sisters. 3rd brother and 5th sister needed more time. Don't be so hard on the Li family for 5th brother in law. The tests were for him but they were also for 5th sister. How else would they know that 5th sister truly loved that boy unless they put him through hardships?
Like most I actually wish the drama was longer. Oh lets not forget the incredible performance of Mama Li. Mama Li ...you were amazing!!!
For those who missed it. 3rd sister had twins...because she is a twin with 3rd brother. She wished for them at the market after picking up twin figurines years ago.
So no one is shocked by Yang becoming 5th brother in law...lol. The fact these 2 came together so violently is shock and awe combined. I was looking forward to 5th sister courtship and the writers did not dissapoint. How we see Yang unveiled will be truly interesting. Is he redeemable? I think the writers can do it but we dont have much time. The adoptative sister story is coming soon and I hope it is Master Li.
My latest discovery. I enjoy watching the dramas that previously were not available years ago due to licensing. I disagree ...this was a Rom Com. I tell you when his boss was waiting for him at his house stating are you ready. I cried and laughed ...just as I did for Jerry MacGuire when he said "You complete me." Their love story wasnt complete without Dong Sik of course so when he showed up and said "This is my desk." I cried a river...still crying.
Writing team ...fantastic work. Actors incredible job. Production amazing. We were truly immersed. We love Koreas dramatic storytelling of every variation

Agreed...Allen is so interesting to watch on his journey to be a divine emperor. We have surely seen this before but Allen and Xing Fe make a real difference. I want to see them conquer the realms
I have to say iQiyi has been bringing in some big productions. This is a fantasy production ...all the way. It takes you on different quests and different realms. Reminds me of World of Fantasy. I do like a visual feast. It has the benefit of Allen and Xing Fe...alot of fun.
Halfway in and they haven't finished yet. Great job in bringing the fantastic to the fantasy. If it's an adaptation ...I don't know how closely it follows but we should allow for artistic license. Keep it coming.

Yes. I guess I call them soap operas like Young and the Restless, Days of Our Lives. etc. Kocowa has films in soap opera style and the drama can run hundreds of episodes. The intro is even bubbling soap. It might be an old terminology but I still use it.

Hidden Love is what I call one Zhao Lusi glamour cdramas. Everyone is beautiful...lol. However...it had great acting truly and it did what it was supposed to do. Somehow I thought Leo Wu would have been more fun. Like Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan for us older crew.
