The director, Yang Yang, messed the tone so horribly. The evolution of their chemistry and intimacy; which should have been mind blowing and coming of age, now just feels inappropriate and taboo. The director did not follow the beautiful tone of the novel at all. Her adaptation is rather peculiar.

I wanted to see a real actor acting not some idol who got lucky with Meteor Garden...
And He should have sticked to Meteor Garden. Stick to what you know not to something that is not your forte.
