She's like a mannequin with tacked-on characteristics? That's funny because she still has more personality traits…
@Kochase I agree with Bai Youning's potential. The relationship with her father and with her colleagues should have been mined more. And only during the wedding we saw that she has other friends besides Lu Yao and Chusheng. Also, you are not wrong about historical inaccuracy. I don't know what it is in a huge number of Asian dramas, they just can't get the female characters right, especially when they want them to seem strong and independent.

I wholeheartedly agree on two cute mail leads. A spoon of sugar makes medicine go down as they say. ^^

There were several women in the drama and all were better written than BYN (except the sister, she was equally two-dimensional). But all of them (sister too) were more likable than BYN, including the murderers. Whataboutism is a poor argument in defending a character, almost as poor as involving my gender. As a woman, but most importantly AS A PERSON, I am not obliged to like any character including female characters. The only thing her character stood in the way of was not bromance (as bromance existed on screen and in the script anyway) but better drama.

I dislike Bai Youning's character because she is poorly written, like a mannequin with tacked-on characteristics . I noticed that this is a trend in many Asian dramas, not just Chinese, where independent and strong equates with loud and rude. Supposedly strong, independent character who despises her father's background has no problems relying on the said background when she needs it. She is hypocritical, brash, spoiled and violent. I was going to give her benefit of the doubt, but then she faked her own abduction and made several cases more complicated they they should have been. The writers attempted to give her some depth in the last several episodes, but too little too late. The romance developed in the last few episodes was the last straw. I wish bromance/friendship was where the writers stopped. I still liked the drama, but it could have been exceptional with better character development of BYN or without her.

Nah i prefer tang fan, the actor that act tang fan is the cutest and prettiest ever.
That is what I meant - Darren Chen instead of Hu Yitian. I mixed stars of The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty and My Roommate is a Detective. Darren Chen IS the cutest in a dress, Hu Yitian IS the cutest when sulking. :D

Hu Yitian in a dress is prettier than most of the women. Also cuter.

EDIT: I just realized I wrote Hu Yitian instead of Darren Chen. That happens when you watch two dramas with cute, clever himbos who love food and their sugar daddies.

I’m wondering if this show has enough bromance to sustain me till episode 48 ☺️
I was told that most of bromance comes after episode 30, that it's subtle, but also that ending is good (whatever that means).

On episode 26 and I really, really dislike Bai Youning. They should have left the drama with just bromance (Lu Yao/QCS) and siblings (Lu Yao/Yunlong) dynamics. The forced romance that started in this episode (completely inconsistent to everything previously shown) only makes me dislike her more. I just added no chemistry with Lu Yao to her being selfish, spoiled and violent. Drama needed no romance, the cases and character interactions were sufficient. Ah, well... I'll watch to the end anyway, but I liked almost every other female character more than her.

EDIT: Geez, people can't even have an opinion without someone trying to explain it to them and how they are wrong. Like that will change something.

Title Why R U?
MODC scarred me for life and I know no one is going to die here but, after seeing spoilers, I'll decide next week if I am even going to watch the last four episodes. I deserve nice things especially in quarantine.

And we are getting other couples too. Mil and Green were cute too.

Honestly I don't think of it as the happiest ending. I just finished it and have to say, maybe the grim reaper…
We'll see, I'm really not in the mood to be in quarantine and in tears. But, thank you just the same. I'll surely get to it some day, I hear a lot of good things.

I wanted to try this drama since I have spare time in current circumstances, but I can't watch anything that doesn't have a happy ending. It's all right if there are sads along the way. When I asked someone who watched it, they said: "It's both sad and then kind of happy, but it's more sad a lot of the time, tbqh." So, now, I still don't know. Can someone here help me? Thanks.

I've watched 11 episodes so far. I like the story, but I wish we had more Win and Team scenes. I know there aren't…
Their novel currently has nine chapters. Compared to 29 chapters (without extras) of Red Thread (UWMA), Hemp Rope will require some time. But, yes, we all want the same actors.

I wonder if WinTeam will get their own series?
They should once their novel is finished.

I come here from time to time and break my own heart. I TRULY understand everyone's complaints about this show,…
I usually don't mind different opinions if they are expressed like adults should express them. But, after seeing a number of comments from people putting down those of us who liked UWMA, I started using block function liberally. Mydramalist experience became much better. So, I recommend it. We can love UWMA together.
