I agree with everything but this "Only a straight screenwriter could come up with such an absurd leap of logic." -> I know some gay men who want a typical beautiful wedding (flowers, centerpieces, groomsmen...). And I know many straight couples who just went to court to sign the paper cause they couldn't care less about a big wedding. Why apply dreams and wants to a sexual orientation?
Maybe the series' message is "gays can have a big wedding like anyone else, they don't have to settle for small and private ceremony, they can do what they want"?

I don't get the comments about the acting. The acting is good, nothing spectacular but certainly not bad. The guys are playing two introverted characters so what kind of acting you're expecting?

Thank you for your input. I don't read korean webtoons (straight or bl) so I didn't know. I believe screenwriters should know when to improve the source material because what works in a book don't always translate well in a series/movie. Imo, a lot of kbls could have been better if they had put more work into the script and less money in the production quality...

Your comment is dumb cause you understood just what you wanted. I said physical attraction can't be enough, meaning it is the start but I believe you can't build a relationship based on it only... Even less in a boss/subordinate relationship where the stakes are high.
"They already developed that in the first two episodes itself. " -> No they didn't. First 2 episodes they spent like 10min just together and they did nothing but talk about work. Is that enough to rejoice when the boss kissed Jong Chan? Is that enough to want them together? Not for me. A basic rule of writing romance is to create situations where we see the characters progress from the infatuation stage to the "I really like them, I want to be with them, I'm gonna risk it all" moment. So we can get invested in them, wondering if and how it's gonna happen. I barely saw development here.

I literally said in my post I needed more than "I'm gonna pursue him because he's nice and handsome and a good addition to the team" to be interested in the romance. The script doesn't make sense cause the screenwriters want the plot to go a certain way with no regard for plausibility.
Acting wise, the guys are doing good but I wish they would emote more. While I appreciate they don't react dramatically to everything, I think in some scenes they don't give enough. I know Phuwin can be more expressive (imo he sometimes can overact a bit) so I guess he's following P'Jojo's instruction.

You're right I don't place much value on physical attraction. I mean, I like it and it's important but for me it's not enough. I need to know someone before I make a move: what's their background, what are their interests, their values...
Obviously with kbl runtime they can't show month of romance progression but the characters should still bond together through regular meaningful conversations and/or playful interactions for us to understand why they eventually like each other. From ep 1, the MC spent more times with other characters than with each other, and when they're together they're working or talking about work. Yes, the manager is attracted to Jong Chan but is it enough to jeopardize their work relationship?
Imo, Roommates of Pongduck 304 and Old Fashion Cupcake did the boss/subordinate plot better with the same runtime, so it's possible.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying The New Employee is bad, I'm just saying I don't connect with it.

It's ok but I don't feel it. They didn't show us why his manager likes him back. They've barely spent time together but he's acting like a bashful lover and kissed him twice. And why Jong Chan likes him already? Since day one he's been crushing on his manager's stern face but what else? It's too fast and shallow. With 8ep of 20min they had enough time to add characters background and plot development.

Two grown ass men kissing like that in 2023? I can't! So disrespectful lol.

The writers gave their all for the MCs and forgot about the secondary couple. And what was the point of the 3rd couple? And who asked for the sister's romance that came out of nowhere?!
It feels like the last 2 episodes were written by a different team, it was so random. As random as the horse riding scene...
An's beating was unnecessary and sent a bad message: "if you want to gain your parents approval let them beat you until they calm down". I was expecting Bai Lang to get angry at An's father but they were all acting like it's no big deal. I guess it's a cultural thing I can't understand...
Main couple's chemistry and great acting saved the show. I love that once together we got so many kisses and skinship. They were so domestic, so tender with each other.
The series ended on a bad note but I'll remember fondly the first 10 episodes for the acting, cinematography and dialogues.

Ep2 was good. But man, P'Jojo loves over the top bgm. Too bad this time it doesn't fit the mood at all...

I love Perth but he's not doing that much here, so I don't get the comparaison with Phuwin...
