Title Not Me
Unpopular opinion but I really need to point out fans are becoming snobbish in the fandom. Every time a new series comes out there's this discussion whether it's a BL or not, whether it's so great it shouldn't be called a BL. What's the point of this debate? You know you can love a drama without denying it's BL? We're in 2022, BL isn't an insult or it shouldn't be anymore because nowadays not all BLs are about rom-com and toxic stereotypes.
You're all here saying Not Me isn't BL but LGBTQ+ and I'm wondering if you even know what LGBTQ+ content is. Do you even know what make a series a BL versus LGBTQ+ ? Does one episode with queers people at a protest make Not Me a LGBTQ+ drama?
Well I get it if you don't want to call Not Me a BL because you deem it superior to other BLs but please explain to me how Not Me is LGBTQ+?

Well, that was the weakest first episode I've ever seen. It has no wow factor, no surprise, no excitement. It took me 1 day to finish the episode because I wasn't into it. Here the issues I have with Enchanté :
- As a French, I don't like when the character has lived in France and comes back in their country but still speaks some french. The accent is embarrassing and the french culture portrayed is always outdated. To be honest, I also have this issue when they incorporate english because the actors and extras rarely have good accents.
- I like the "childhood friends turned to lovers" trope but it has to be done properly. Thai dramas always choose to skip the childhood years but then use tone of flashbacks to justify to viewers the romance resulting from said friendship. It's not always a good idea. The flashbacks should be used sporadically and fittingly to explain something happening on our timeline. Like in Bad Buddy and Lovely Writer. Here, in Enchanté, episode 1 has too many flashbacks and none of them were essential. They should have narrated their childhood in linear fashion.
- I don't understand the narrative choice. They made it too obvious Akk has feelings for Theo. It's a harem drama but we already know AkkTheo is endgame so why should we watch the series? When I saw the trailer last year I thought Akk would be just a friend giving Theo advices and helping him find his lover and with the story progression we would find out he's the anonymous suitor. But from the start we can guess he likes Theo, there's no surprise!

Yeah the topic is interesting but the way they handle it is... well not so good. It's almost in every scene and…
Merci, c'est exactement ça!

I actually don't think it's being preachy at all. The dialogue is mainly about anti-capitalism and corruption…
DanYok is the 2% that's not political.
My comparison with detective shows wasn't to highlight the non existing detective skills of White. It was merely an exemple to explain it is possible to use multiple narrative technics to elevate a story.
When I think about BL I don't think about rom-com like Bad Buddy because I don't have preconceived expectations regarding BLs. There are all kind of BL out there, it's not all about comedy. BL just means gay romance. Therefore Not Me is a BL with a political theme.

Something I just thought of - it's a little ironic that UNAR has sold an NFT, when NFTs are absolutely terrible…
Yes. Same for the anti-capitalism speech but with product placements. How to lessen the power of the conveyed message...

Well, I'm an activist (environmentalism, feminist, LGBTQIA+, anti-animal cruelty) so I do talk like the characters in Not Me lol. But Not Me isn't a lecture at Uni nor is it a documentary. It's a fiction that needs to be energetic and engaging. We don't need to see the characters preaching at each other. Because at this point, they should know what they're fighting for already. They've been together for a while so it's quite puzzling to watch them recite in every dialogue why and how capitalism and corruption are the devils of society.

You can have a good series without having every aspect of your narration revolving around the main plot. That's why you use subplots and favor a character-driven story. For example, when watching a detective show, you'll have scenes where the cops investigate the crimes, but you'll also have character-driven moments where you learn more about the characters, their background, family, hobbies, and maybe some light scenes in order to pace the storytelling and even out the grim plot. Not Me is 98% anti-corruption dialogues. And for a series about anarchists, there are more talks than actions. As a result, we're halfway through the series but the plot about Black's assault isn't progressing because the guys keep preaching at each other non stop.
Anyway, to each their own. I'm just disappointed because I like OffGun and wanted to love their new project.

After episode 7 I finally know why I can't connect with Not Me. I totally agree with the message conveyed but the execution is too heavy-handed for me. It feels like I'm attending a Human rights lecture at Uni. Every dialogue is about anti-capitalism, anti corruption etc. It's very repetitive and gives me this claustrophobic feeling. Obviously, the topic is really interesting and need to be discussed in Thailand but I'm getting bored with the way they're hammering away at us with their good morals versus bad morals dialogues. I guess I'm used to watching series that deliver messages in a more subtle way and encourage viewers to think and take a stand without being spoon-fed ethics.

I'm certainly smarter than you. Only idiots insult people who don't share their pov. You just show us you're weak intellectually. Have a nice day and try not to hurt your brain too much.

For a series about young athletes this lack of energy and intensity : the atmosphere is too slow and the sport scenes aren't intense or well filmed. Also, it's obvious the actors aren't good at sport...nor are they good at acting...

I don't want season 2. They need to resolve this now! I didn't invest in all those friday to wait another year. Also, if the issue can't be resolve this season, why would it be solved in season 2 ? If the parents oppose them now why would they changed their mind years later ? Please don't do this P'Aof! You managed to subvert every cliché and tropes until now so don't fall for this one. MCs don't need to be separated for years to test their love. Please P'Aof!

This has a rating of 9 ?! What a bunch of dumb characters acting within a dumb plot! It started good but around episode 4 it went down the drain. The characters make stupid mistakes repeatedly, the bad guys are never neutralized, too many situations and dialogue are repetitive and the plot twist isn't a surprised because they made it pretty obvious from the start and tbh it doesn't add value to the story. Also it was too much similar to Sweet Home.

Why reply to me if you don't give any logic explanation but simply rehash what the series wants you to think ? The plot has more holes than an Emmental cheese and you take it at face value. Good for you.

What a mess! I usually love this kind of series and I can overlook some plotholes and inconsistencies but Hellbound was too much! I wasn't expecting explanations but they didn't even try to respect the rules they set from the start. Characters actions don't make sense or aren't necessary:
- Arrowheads are God followers who want people to stop sinning but they're criminals who beat and kill people without fear of God
- Why did Jung Jin Soo (cult leader) involve the cop's daughter? He knows he's going to die so I understand he might want to kill someone and die for a reason but why this murderer? Why do it with the girl? Also, he didn't intent to do this before meeting the cop but he brainwashed the girl so hard in a couple of days that she went with the flow and killed someone ?!
- Why did Jung Jin Soo reveal the truth to the cop and make him witness his death ? He told him not to tell others how he's going to die so why did he let the cop come to him ? He told the cop to destroy his remains so no one will know he received a decree. In episode 2 they said remains can't be analyze and results aren't conclusive which means nobody would have known it was Jung Jin Soo remains! The entire plot with the cop, his daughter and the cult leader is BS.
- Why some people receive the decree only few hours before dying and others see the "angel" days or years before? As I see it it's only for narrative purpose (to allow characters to move the plot forward or for shock value).
Anyway, I've rarely been this annoyed with a show. It's like they didn't even care to write a plot that makes sense.

Dropped it after episode 7. Didn't like the korean version and I don't like this series. I guess I don't care about the source material. I was only here for Singto. I think I could have endured it until the end but they had to add the plot with Weir's ex boyfriend, the infamous Jean. Watching Weir acting like a helpless kid with his ex, and being treated as an object was too much for me.

Every time Ink interacts with Pran she says "Pat told me x" - Pat literally has Pran on his mind 24/7 and just…
Yes I suspect Ink observed them back in high school and found out they liked each other. The fact she made them the same bracelet is suspect. I mean ok they were friends (though I didn't get the impression Ink and Pran were that close) but why make couple bracelets for them ?
Honestly I was quite shocked when Pat said he liked her because it came from nowhere! I feel like he was afraid Pran would said yes so he gave the same answer he thought he would get. And then he couldn't backtrack. It doesn't make sense but this is what I felt during that scene.
