Nah idgaf I love this show and all its stupid, cringey antics. If u don't vibe with P'Cheewin's style (he pushes the crazy and satire line to the EXTREMES sometimes) then completely valid but honestly, I recommend everyone give this a try and decide for themselves if they vibe or not. SCOY makes me cringe so hard my teeth clamp down, I'm constantly on the verge of drowning my phone in a bowl of water and yet by the end of each episode - my cheeks are burning from all the laughter (sometimes in complete disbelief) this show has given me. It's wacky and crazy and imo pretty fucking awesome 😁
NOTE: This review can be found on recent discussions. If you like, pls keep an eye out as i will update my reviews over there every week :)
Hello, helooo all! Sultana here again with another weekly rundown.
TL/DR: The basketball games were necessary though long but i hope to not see them for a long time after.
We jump right back from where we left off in ep7 this week with Chiyakorn University's Basketball (BB) team going up against Coach Tuan. This week's major controversy seems to boil down to one main question: does this sports BL drama have too much sports? Now one might think the answer lies within the question itself, however i argue that it is far more complicated than that. See while this is a sports drama at it's core (and specifically a BB one at that), the problem is that there are 2 more couples who's lives have very little to do with the *epic highs and lows of college basketball* (if u get the reference, have a heart <3). That being said, here's my two cents:
Tupfah and Thorn's relationship reminds me of the starring duo in Project S: Spike. That was also a Sports drama and focused heavily on both the main duo's relationship as well as Volleyball (culminating to an epic final game show down much like the one we saw this episode). As i pointed out before, the main difference is that this show has THREE couples and a world outside of just the sport. So was the balance a little off in ep7 and 8? Sure, maybe a little. but i don't blame the show AT ALL. Why? because the first few episodes, we got very little of actual competitive BB. remember a couple episodes ago when we had almost 3/4 of an episode dedicated to Aii and Saen's relationship? I'm not saying that was wrong or unnecessary by any means -> rather, i'm pointing out that it was essential for plot progression. So is the big final match in BB for Fah and Thorn. While it isn't as overtly romantic as Aii and Saen's episode (or as tension-riddled as the scenes with Dome and Vee), we - as the audience - need to understand that BB represents the very foundational pillars of Thorn and Fah's relationship.
This brings me to my next point -> i saw a few people compare Vee and Dome (and their running of the relay) to Fah and Thorn and how we didn't need to sit through almost an hour of just relay running (this was the case for BB). While this is true (and i agree, i think production could have cut a few of those slowed down montages out for the betterment of all of us), it needs to be remembered that relay running is in no way as fundamental to Vee and Dome's relationship as BB is to Tupfah and Thorn. Running allowed an alternate and sped-up pathway for Vee and Dome to discover their chemistry - in other words, it acted like a catalyst - while BB was the very reason Tupfah and Thorn met, continued to commit to one another and ultimately fell in love (looking deeper, BB was also the main reason Thorn found confidence in himself and his abilities to be more than "mediocre"). So i don't think that's a very fair comparison. That being said, i do hope that the next 4 episodes feature the other couples and their domesticity more than BB games (and i hope my bby Thorn is okay ;-;).
Moving on to our tracky boys, Vee and Dome. I feel very sorry for Vee and applaud P'Prosche on his acting because that panic attack almost sent me spiralling. It was so realistic and raw - gave me Goosebumps. Not much else happened with these two unfortunately, but the show went on to further solidify that we are NOT meant to just blindly ship Vee and Dome. Pan is so fckn sweet and an amazing big sister -> she does not deserve this. And neither does Vee. And yet, i can't completely blame Dome either. It seems like he's rlly struggling with his sexuality (something i think Vee ignited in him) - i just hope he gets his shit together soon.
Finally, Aii and Saen. Not much with this couple either but what we did get was great. I loved how Saen stood his ground -> the boy has self-respect and knows how to set boundaries. I also like how Aii didn't rush into agreeing to long distance without a proper think (it would be super OOC if he did tbh) -> it's a big commitment and i'm glad he understands the gravitas of what they are about to embark on. Once again the Vee/Pan siblings are carrying this ship on their backs, the convo with Pan and Aii was just as good and last weeks one with Vee and Saen. Pan pushed Aii just the right amount so that he decided for himself what he wanted but also didn't chicken out. Very smart lady. I hope their relationship continues to blossom (esp since it seems like Aii is openning up to the relationship a lot more).
All in all, this was another rlly amazing episode and i loved it so much. i screamed so loud when they won the BB game (even tho it was pre obv they would) and there were lots of commendable moments (for all parties involved). ONCE AGAIN: WHY DOES THIS SHOW HAVE SUCH A LOW RATING??
TL/DR: This show is amazing. if you haven't watched it - DO. if you haven't rated it - DO
The choke hold this show and ALL THREE OF IT'S COUPLES has on me is absolutely not a joke. All three couples are marvellous in their own way.
Tbh i didn't think i'd rlly like p'fah and thorn's story line much (because p'suar's acting was a style of acting i didn't have fond memories of) but by god was i wrong. Thorn is the most precious bean and whoever did his make-up and styling this episode deserves just the biggest raise. Their movement into being a couple also seemed rlly seamless to me, probably because their behaviour to each other even before becoming a couple was pretty sweet and obv more than platonic. I adore how supportive the ENTIRE team is as well as just the supporting characters around them. One of my biggest "yay they did it right" moments was last episode when they refused to villainise the female character but instead make her strong, independent and actually relatable. I liked her friendship with Fah and hope to see more of her.
Aii and Saen are also so precious and i love their story progression a lot. i rlly like how they are portraying Aii's personality (they successfully avoided the - as i call it - "kit" characterisation wherein the tsundere character makes little to no progress in showing their feelings for their golden retriever boyfriends) but not shying away from having Saen actively express his hurt to some of the decisions Aii makes (Saen doesn't just gloss it over - he has a very good bit of self respect and although he rlly likes Aii, he is not afraid to put himself first when necessary). I'm excited to see how they'll tackle this next hurdle with Aii going to Japan (cause bruh Gen Y did the same thing with Mark-Kit and Kit's reactions are *exactly* what i hope doesn't happen here).
Finally, Vee and Dome are so complicated and messed up but i LOVE that the show isn't trying to justify their behaviour. They didn't make Vee's sis a bad person - if anything, she's amazing - and thus the show doesn't want us to hate Vee's sister and root for Vee and Dome but instead try and understand the immense moral grey zone the two of them are about to enter. The devillainisation of women in this show is honestly a breath of fresh air. I hope they continue this air of "grey moral" with this couple because it's just. so. interesting. Not everything needs to be cut and dry - love is messy and confusing and i hope they portray this love story exactly like that.
Honourable mention: the conversation with Vee and Saen this episode was so realistic, esp Saen's reaction. The hanging his head low and just listening to advice he knows is true but finds it hard to accept because he is hurt (rightfully so may i add) and the delicacy with which Vee advocates for Aii is also so nice. Aii is Vee's friend and senior, someone he knows and cares about, while Saen is his junior - someone who relies on and respects him - as such i think Vee navigated this scene with as much tenacity s possible. He could have easily just half-heartedly given advice or just blindly agreed with Saen (something much easier than what he did) but instead, chose to use his view as an outsider to give Saen a 3rd person's insight. this ultimately led to Saen both better understanding Aii and also reconsidering his stance and understanding of their relationship (that he doesn't need everyone to know - as long s the 2 of them know, it's enough for now).
Final thoughts? 7.9 rating is too low for this show - i said what i said ;)
I got it, thank you so much ur actually a legend. For the others: 1. Type this directly into Google not in the web browser 2. Follow the Reddit instructions and connect with Reddit account (make one if U don't have one already - it is free) 3. Search you're my sky on the search bar 4. Enjoy :)
Hahaa, so you do care! Hey where are you watching this series? Like everyone else I couldn't find the english…
i just watched your subtitles on the episode and as a native english speaker and someone who at least somewhat understands thai, you did a marvellous job. Thank you for your hard work and i'm very sorry to hear Gcinee stole your video <3
Hey y'all, just gonna pop in my 2 cents about Pok and Tong so far DISCLAIMER: this is only my opinion. please feel free to disagree in the replies but let's remain civil and have a nice discussion :)
This episode i think highlighted the major problem between Pok and Tong (as well as the minor personal issues they have as well - things they will DEFINITELY need to work out in therapy if they want their relationship to work):
Tong, as someone who rlly loves Pok, can't help but jump in to fight Pok's battles for him when he sees that Pok is drowning (or it at least it appears to Tong that Pok needs help). While this may not be outwardly and initially a problem, one might introspect further to think that this is rooted from a place of mistrust (i.e. Tong doesn't trust Pok enough to solve his own problems. This was also the issue with the test results). Pairing this with Pok's somewhat subtle inferiority complex (that may have always been there but started becoming noticeable after the "getting beat up" incident), Tongs's actions may have actually come off as Tong looking down at Pok (by not thinking his capable enough to fight his own battles) which would not have sat well with Pok.
Something i found strange here, and thought worthy of noting is that Pok doesn't rlly ever fight back the bullies. Granted he is outnumbered but by the second attack he should've been more prepared - yet we don't see him struggle against the bullies all that much. And this from someone who is incredibly hot headed and physically strong (and probably an experienced brawler given his history of temper issues).
I will say that Tong's decision to tell the principle, while theoretically IS the right thing to do - it was not the smartest thing to do. And in some ways i think highlighted a bit of Tong's naivety (an interesting contrast to Sandee i'd say). Tong is definitely more "book smart" than "street smart" and thus didn't have the foresight to consider the socio-political repercussions of his actions (i.e. if he told on the bullies and action was taken, the bullying wouldn't stop but get worse for Pok). His thought profile was way more straight-laced: My Pok is being bullied -> Tell the teacher -> Punishment -> Bullying stops (therefore Pok is safe). In reality though, this isn't really the case.
So to conclude this very long post (if you've read thus far, i thank you -> you have amazing patience), Tong was most definitely not wrong in his actions - in fact, they were right - but sometimes the right actions bare the wrong fruit. But i have to say Pok's reactions (esp his last line) was seriously out of line and his tendency to "speak/act first and repent later" is definitely not cool. I do, however, understand his anger and frustration at his situation and also understand that in his anger-clouded brain, Tong seems like the instigator of all his troubles (still not an excuse to be this much of an ass to someone who was just trying to protect you though :/)
The MDL comment section is starting to look like a Kpop comment section....all the obsession about views, popularity,…
shows are shows, fans are fans. i think it's pretty ridiculous to pass up on a show cause the fans keep saying how good it is lmao. you don't need to like it or even agree, but this the same type of logic people use to hate on "mainstream" artists. Congratz bub, you're real quirky
This show is phenomenal. The acting (this is what happens when 2 phenomenal actors with already great chemistry come together - absolute perfection), directing (p'Aof is god tier at this point, I would watch ANYTHING that he does), soundtrack, cinematography and even costuming. The tiniest little details (idk why but the fact that Pran had long sleeves on the rooftop scene makes the whole thing so much better and more in character) are perfected. So much attention and love was given to this show and I urge ANYONE AND EVERYONE who hasn't seen it to please do. It is well beyond worth it and rapidly becoming my personal favourite Thai BL of all time.
his chemistry with Han Gi Chan was the best on that I agree, BUT DUDE okay he isn't visually appealing to YOU,…
"i'm just weight-shaming him hehehe" what the fuck? *-* First and foremost it wouldn't matter even if he was plus size but the guy's not even the slightest bit overweight, he's just not muscled/toned. Different people find different body types attractive?? Secondly, u cast to fit the character and in the eyes of the director, Lee portrayed the character best out of all those who auditioned. Thirdly, "don't want to personally attack", you called him "lumpy" LFMAO okay. everyone is entitled to criticize and that extends to casting as well - even criticism of the actor's appearance for not fitting the overall vibe is valid as long as it is done respectfully. But you? Nah cunt, kick rocks.
I’ll be honest I’m 100% team Shinwoo but this is a total unbiased analysis. I honestly think Shinwoo and Taekyung…
As someone who wasn't aware of the game, this point is so cool to me. i LOVE the way the drama makes these cheeky references to the game, it adds so much depth to the show. Like how you mentioned Taekyung originally rejected Shinwoo's offer (which, in the game, meant that path wasn't chosen) but now the drama shows another karaoke scene which Taekyung does accept - the drama is literally saying the from here on Tae's route has changed and is switching to Shinwoo instead of Da-on. So cool X)
For what are you being so condescending man. Do i think it deserves its rating? Nah, course not (gaya sa pelikula…
To address the ratings point -> MDL does this thing where they don't screen a show's ratings (for bot-like ratings or other similarly dubious accounts) until a few weeks into airing (hence why many shows have a very sharp decline in ratings at around the half way mark to airing). I also believe the people who have rated so far are doing it more so out of the "yes bl, all must be 10" than genuine appreciation.
In addition, i'd like to apologise, i believe i misread the tone of ur comment. A LOT of ppl on here look down on people who prefer things they see no interest in and the second paragraph of ur comment made me believe u were one of them. If the question was asked with genuine curiosity, here's my answer:
My line of work causes a lot of emotional exhaustion and has long days. I prefer to watch something that requires absolutely no brain power after those esp draining days -> i.e. i like seeing the pretty people in pretty rooms with the pretty lighting 😅 I don't think there's much more to it than that.
Can someone explain to me WHY they like this? I'm not being sarcastic, I'm genuinely curious, because this is…
For what are you being so condescending man. Do i think it deserves its rating? Nah, course not (gaya sa pelikula and itsay are light years ahead undoubtedly) but insinuating everyone who enjoys the show has bad taste is a bit short sighted. People enjoy and value different things. Like fuck after a tough and long day, maybe i don't wanna cry or even think too deeply. Maybe i just wanna shut my brain off and look at some light and fluffy drama. That's not a crime. If you don't vibe, more power to you man find a show that does appeal. But please, the superciliousness is unnecessary.
This series makes it official. I am a sucker for "hate to love/enemies to lovers" storylines 😅 No wonder I…
Okay i just had to reply cause Pride and Prejudice is my favourite thing ever! I loved the book and i rewatch the movie once every 6 months or so. Lizzy and Mr. Darcy are just 🥰
IDK. Absolute monogamy is kind of the BL thing. As for me, I’m kind of hoping the main couple gets erased somehow…
If you ever get around to it, hit me up, i'll help write it. ? anything to add some of that sweet spice to this field of mostly white rice and barely seasoned chicken.
lol.. i have nothing against anson.. but you are so irritating. .. i fyou have to get to specifics.. anyone who…
Bruh I've had debates and my fair share of annoyance with Flypsyde too but they did literally nothing wrong here. the acting was fine, Muran was conscious but still tipsy, you could tell. And alcohol is a depressant and effects bodies differently. It's already established that Muran can hold his liquor so I think the portrayal was fine. Finding the commentator annoying and ignorantly picking holes in sound deduction is two different things.
HE IS SKINNY. It's not "body shaming," it's a fact. lol Just another SJW trope..."body shaming."
I would start by thanking your father for his service, it is a bravety we cannot begin to imagine. Second off, as someone who is also facinated by the war and studied its history (please refraim from assuming my knowledge of it is any less than urs, i do not pretend to know u much like you do not know me), you can understand how that is a very insensitive comparison to make esp for those who have suffered its atrocities. I would also like to say that this is just a discussion, i hope neither of us (nor anyone else who chooses to comment) is taking things personally or becoming "tired", i am not here to defend anyone's honour, just pointing out something i find to be insensitive. Though our opinions differ, i hope you understand where i am coming as i do you and take this as a differing of personal outlooks rather than a "crazy SJW" (i had to google what that meant due to this and mind it quite an amusing term for both the user and recipient)
Finally, Aii and Saen. Not much with this couple either but what we did get was great. I loved how Saen stood his ground -> the boy has self-respect and knows how to set boundaries. Once again the Vee/Pan siblings are carrying this ship on their backs, the convo with Pan and Aii was just as good and last weeks one with Vee and Saen. I hope their relationship continues to blossom (esp since it seems like Aii is openning up to the relationship a lot more).
