I just finished watching S1.So how is s2 compared to S1? I'm seeing mixed reviews?
If you like season 1, you will definitely enjoy season 2. I am of the belief that season 2 was just as good as season 1. I guess you will have to judge it for yourself.
They should have filmed seasons 2 and 3 in the same block and be done with it.
I agree. The change of characters this season should have prompted them to film both seasons back to back. Why take the risk of current cast members not being available?
Cast members such as the Emperor and Chen ping ping are only getting older... you think they would want the transition between seasons to be as seamless as possible.
@PeachBlossomGoddess: I simply love your reviews. You are amazing at it. Is this what you do for a living?
Anyway I just completed season 2 and I loved it just as much as the second. I agree with the all the points that you made. Too many open plots and I am unsure how they are going to close them out in just 36-40 episodes.
Unlike, you however, I still rated season 2 at 9.5 simply because it's so hard to achieve consistencies with sequels. I thought season 2 started slow; it's like they were trying too hard in the beginning to recreate the magic they had in season 1. However, as the series progressed, everyone started to fall back into their roles and created a new magical season.. :)
The screenwriter said we definitely don't need to wait 5 years this time 😂... Hopefully he didn't meant 6 😜…
haha , I can do 2 years. but anymore than that, I will need to go to China and have a talk with the screenwriter. :)
I hope they already filmed season 3 and are just waiting for 2026 to release it. It makes for a smoother transition to season 3. Both the Emperor and CPP are not getting any younger.
This is not a full romance themed series did you not get this when u finished first part.. This is Mls journey…
Thank you for well conceived response. I found season highly entertaining and just as good as season 1. I love where the plot is heading. I still have a lot of questions, but that's what makes it fun.
At the very least, this is a highly engaging drama.
I just completed Season 2 and I came away impressed. While I was worried with the early episodes, and while there were a lot twist and turns that are yet to be fully explained, I found JOL2 as exciting and entertaining as JOL1..
Very often in the drama world where sequels are often a big let down. JOL2, in my opinion, was just as good if not better than JOL1. Now, I cannot wait for season 3. I just hope that I don't have to wait another 5 years.
Does anyone know if they filmed season 3, the same time as season 2?
I don't understand how this drama overall rating is 8.4. It should be at the very least rated at 9 or higher. To me, it is equivalent if not better than NIF. The plot, acting, pace, conversation, the elaborate costumes, and the music are all elite. I have watched this drama about 3 years ago and I still cannot get it out of my mind. It is the standard by which I judge other CDramas.
It's one of the few times I watched a drama where I felt completely immersed in the show. It's almost like I was transported in that fictional world as a bug on the wall listening to every conversation between the cast.
Yeah you must be 60 then if you don't like this go to your fav part I have been tired of seeing people coming…
I was not defending anyone in particular. I was just calling us to be more civilized toward one another. If you look at my post, I said both sides are entitled to their own opinions. If you disagree with someone; just ignore them and move on with your life.
People are quick to use adjectives to describe someone they disagree with. I agree original poster was a bit tactless; but neither were those who responded.
If you are getting insulted, and have to retort back because someone calls you a 13 year old; then you just prove the original poster’s point.
I will not post again on this subject ;; it was just sad to see how immature folks can be about a fictional drama.
I haven’t watched this one yet, but from your comments, I think I’ll give it a try. I’m always looking for…
@LPA- I am the same way; I love historical drama and it's so hard to find good ones. Anyway, I am wondering if you watched this one, and if so, how was it?
this drama is "unique" still waiting for a drama that match it's energy
I have watched this drama a couple of years ago and I am still in awe of it. One of the top 5 costume CDrama for me. I can't wait to see the two main leads in another drama.
Fully agree. As much as I enyojed part 2 (not bad, really) I still do feel part 1 was so much better in soooo…
Thank you for the feedback. It was an enjoyable drama indeed. I wish we could have gotten more from part 2, but overall it was worth the watch. Like you said, in my heart and mind JSM was the star of part 1. I wish she could have been in part 2.
Let me preface this - I am grown, and when I watch a show, I know what I like and don't like. We are entitled to our own opinion, and I understand that we will see things differently. I respect others' opinions but do not belittle my opinion because you disagree with me.
I like AOS, period. I think it was a good drama overall. However, for me, Part 1 (9.5/10) was way better than part 2 (7/10). I felt more chemistry between the leads in part 1 than in part 2. Part 2 was too ambiguous and convoluted; things did not make sense.
The story flowed better in part 1, and JSM was simply outstanding. Her story was better, and her depiction of her roles carried the show. Also, she had a better connection with Jang UK; I could feel their love/chemistry without all the kissing.
The new female was not bad, I felt bad for her. She did not get to show her acting depth in part 2.
It's been quiet lately. According to earlier reports, they should start right after Chinese New Year, that is,…
Hi Janecshia, thank you for your response. It saddens me to hear this, but everything you said above is true. I hope the production crew gets their acts together to complete filming next year.

None of us are making money or getting famous of this drama.

Just my 2 cents.
