This is light and fluffy, and has a good ending. Nothing too fantastic though. Like I mentioned, if you want something enjoyable to tide over a drama drought, this fits. Have you tried Romance of Tiger and Rose? That drama, I can safely say, is worth your time.
Reading the comments here and recalling the flak on backstreet rookie's page.. That was only twelve years' gap and receiving so much negativity, not surprising that the debate here is worst. I wonder if the Zhou Dongyu - Takeshi Kaneshiro pairing in "This Is Not What I Expected" received the same sentiments previously.
Aww when I read from one of the comments that there are plans for season 2, I was halfway through the drama so I thought season 2 would revolve around QQ's experience in Xuan Hu City. The main leads looked perfect in ancient setting. If only they could travel back into the novel for season 2. Though beggars can't be choosers. Appreciate any sequel they may produce, as long as it happens, and the main leads are still the same.
Why is the rating so high? I dropped it after a few episodes after seeing how the plot is moving towards the usual k drama tropes. I could not be convinced with the main lead's chemistry too, although I love them separately in suspicious partner and it's okay that's love. I am thinking of trying Tale of Nokdu since i like Kim So Hyun. Is that drama better?
Just finished it. Probably because of the episode cuts, the plot moves slower in the first half of the drama, and we can see the drama urgently tying up strings and throwing major reveals in the last 2 episodes to move the plot. Overall, it's an enjoyable drama, and refreshing to see no real villain.
Probably unpopular opinion, I thought the plot and story telling were a little lacking for 18 episodes. Also, the female lead gets on my nerves most of them time. Most of the time she's just either angry or helplessly crying. They did not explore much of her backstory, it was just briefly mentioned. The transition from being scared of Nam Shin III to suddenly protecting him with her life was too sudden.
Still, SKJ was great in both his roles though. He created enough difference between both Nam Shins. All in all, it's still a nice watch, probably also because it is one of the few highest production cost in k dramaland, the sci-fi scenes are refreshing to watch.
Considering the censorship for homosexual content, can this drama really be called a BL project? I don't really…
Yeah, looking at how strict china censorship is, the pairing would likely be implicit. I'm not sure to what extent are they gonna show though, since I skipped The Untamed so I don't have anything for comparison. Technically the drama is based off a BL novel but...maybe bromance is a better word?

C'mon, yoojung has debuted for 17 years, even longer than changwook oppa. She's mature for her age, and can totally pass off as a 23, 24. As for Changwook, he totally look like he's still in his late twenties. If you watched the trailers, you'll find that they look pleasing together.
