I am from SEA and I felt nothing about his remark. It's not discriminating or derogatory at all. Funny how it seems that people who are offended are not from SEA. It's the truth that humans from different regions have different physical traits. It's a natural course of evolution.
Like some comments below, I couldn't complete this drama. I have no idea why I suddenly lost interest when they finally got together. Perhaps I prefer watching healthier relationships. I might come back to this some day. Taking a break from K-dramaland.
If you are too young, you may not be able to relate to YAMG. Particularly, if you are not a working adult and…
I am sorry I made you feel that way. It's nice to read other's comments and see the dramas in other perspectives. So please continue commenting in dramas. Unlike C-netizens, people on MDL are mostly more civilized, less flaming/trolling, and more healthy discussions. Don't let me spoil your fun!
I’m at episode 30 and this is now my favorite Chinese drama! I love how it’s so mature and it gives us a realistic…
Yes my sentiments exactly. Reba and Yangyang need another drama together. I can't get enough of them. Like how I commented above, I seldom see any C-drama pairings with leads that have perfect looks on par with each other. <3 It's more common in K-dramas though.
I watched both together and actually finished both their last episodes today.
Execution/Production wise I actually prefer YAMG more. Falling into your smile focuses on the gaming, and may not appeal to the general public, but I actually know the game that they are playing so I could relate to it. YAMG would appeal more to the older/mature audience due to the scriptwriting and storyline. I think both are good in their respective genres/target groups.
YAMG can easily be the best rom-com drama of 2021. The main leads have amazing chemistry. I can't emphasize enough how mature the couple dynamics are. Once the leads got together, they braved through all misunderstandings with healthy communication.
I have watched so many dramas that I am quite numb to touching scenes, but YAMG managed to bring me tears when Yutu finally confessed to a disheartened Jingjing, and also how endearing and lovable Jingjing was when she asked for a simple wedding with Yutu. Despite the vast income gap, they treated each other as equals and gave full support and respect to each other. Their love is so perfect that I don't even think it exists in real life, but their acting made it so believable.
I pray hard for a new collab between Yangyang and Reba. I don't recall watching any c-drama with both their main leads boasting such 100% looks that kill. They nailed their roles.
Why is there so much debate on ALP? I have watched plenty of xianxia dramas, and ALP is actually pretty decent. ZDY took me awhile to get used to, since her acting is very 'relaxed' (i can't find the right word) for a period drama. But XK has been in multiple xianxias, and he suits this genre. It is common for actors/actresses to get pigeonholed into specific character types based on their past projects and also their looks. XK looks just suit the cold, aloof or goofy types. It's not his fault for not being offered other roles, especially when the writers out there love to choose this personality for their male leads.
Anyway, I can hardly wait for this drama to end before i binge watch the remaining episodes. I am at 20 right now. :D
I know what you mean about the acting in their separation but I think it has to do with the directing. Yue Mi’s…
Yesss why did Qingmu had to ruin that reunion. I thought Houchi would be able to claim the sword back.. It's kind of sad that she had to experience in her second life again.. having an esteemed position but with low powers. It would be nice having her sword to protect her ):
I know what you mean about the acting in their separation but I think it has to do with the directing. Yue Mi’s…
You basically sum up what I felt. ZDY and Xukai are really good actors, so I won't blame them for it. I found the dubbing really off for our leads as well. Their dubbing sounds super calm (?) most of the time, especially for ZDY. It took me a few episodes to get used to her deep voice.
Oh yes, I don't really want to compare, but the emotional scenes in AOL always tug at my heartstrings. I feel so much more deeply for our leads there.

It's not just you. I had the same impression of their death scenes too. Something felt lackluster. I did not feel as affected compared to other xianxia drama death scenes. Was it their acting, the directing or the CGI? I truly can't tell.
I have been waiting forever and a half for this drama to air T_____T Both my favorite leads with 101% looks. They look perfect together; the chemistry must be sizzling.
Some netizens are weird. They care about the age difference between Leo and Reba, but I don't hear the same complaints for Go Ahead where Weilong and Songyun have a 9 year age gap. I guess this is the issue of Leo being a child actor. There are not too ready to see Leo in adult roles. Look how chiseled he looks in this drama though. Sometimes I can't even tell the age difference, since Reba looks younger without the eye make up.
I love Lusi too! Hoping that her character growth will show her as less of a damsel. Shuyu needs to stand up for himself too. Other than that, the character growth for ChangGe is superb. I have read the comics before, and it seems the director had tried to keep the original story. Just that, Ashina found out about her as a woman earlier in the drama.
BTW I know that I have placed a spoiler tag, but if you haven't finish the series, DO NOT READ.
In contrary to all the positive reviews here, I don't find that this drama is living up to the hype. I had to watch the last episodes on 1.5x speed. Can't root for the main couple. I really thought Xing'er could move on with life after marriage with Ji Chong. There's way too much noble idiocy in this drama. At every single plot point, all of the leads just choose to sacrifice themselves, never ever considered the consequences or if their beloved actually wants it. They had an army with them, and so many advisors/warriors that are clear headed. But no, the 3 leads just had to infiltrate the enemy fortress on their own. If Bo Wang didn't arrive in time, Xing'er could not even save the 4th prince on her own after eating the strengthening meds. Ugh.. I just didn't like how they couldn't communicate and work together for the final battle to show some camaraderie and have a wholesome ending. I am okay with Xing'er's dying, as she has suffered way too much and this feels like a liberation for her. But, definitely not HOW she died.
My favorite character is Ji Chong here, being the most truthful person of them all. I really liked how fast he can move on, and the scene where he went to the main leads for advice/to rant after Bao Na chased him in his army camp showed how at ease he is with the decision to let go of Xing'er. Yao Ji and Ma Jing are great too.
IMO, the drama captivated me at the first quarter. Everything went below my expectations from the second half. Still, the leads all suit their characters well, so the acting is fluid. The music grows on me; I find myself having an ear worm stuck in my head for a few days. I still enjoyed some scenes, so I am rating it a 7.5. I hope I am not making any enemies here with this review LOL.
I’ve seen somewhere that Allen Ren doesn’t do kiss scenes. If that is the truth, then this drama will be disappointing…
It's true. All his the kiss scenes for his past dramas (after Glory of Tang) are usually 'angled', or they get someone else to film the kiss scenes. It's very apparent in 'Under the Power' with Songyun. They would usually zoom in on the 'real kisses' so that you cant tell it's not the actors. That's the main reason why although his acting is superb, I have never felt strong chemistry between him and his FLs.

Close to perfect. 9/10

Anyway, the plot is thickening now. Have you watched 17 and 18? I really like the dynamics between QingMu and HouChi now.

Stay safe through the pandemic, everyone!
It's nice to see this side of MDL with minimal flaming. :D

Hahahaa I'm so used to seeing him as the right hand man roles.
Bai Lu is known to spark chemistry with all her male leads, so this can be good to his career. :D
