The first episode is fine. The most risqué it gets is a man in standing around in a very thick velour dressing…
Hahahah

It’s a family drama. It’s the weekend drama for the next six months. There will be hardly any kissing scenes.…
Korean shows in recent years have been very different in terms of what they show so I asked.
On The Real Has Come! Mar 26, 2023
This drama seems to be have vibes of older, simpler dramas but is it really a family drama given the theme? I'd like to start it but not if it goes into pointlessly risque scenes and topics.

Title Mr. Queen
Is this a simple funny drama or is it trying to be 'woke' and 'breaking stereotypes' by implying BL or whatever with the whole gender swap thing? Really tired of gender swaps in historic kdramas at this point.

In my mind, this makes total sense as a BL. In some other life, I hope, Chef Jang Bong Hwan gets to meet his King…
But it's not right? Kinda tired of gender swap historic dramas.

Is this another drama trying to be cool, raw and edgy and American-ish with deep, aRtIsTiC, distasteful sex scenes but only ends up being forced and weird and a waste of time?

people complaining that kdramas are being ''westernized'' bc of the nudity and sex scenes is so funny to me like…
It is disappointing to see kdramas having pointless explicit scenes when they've always been more or less clean to watch unlike western shows. So people's disappointment is very well placed. It is a genre that most of us like because it is closer to our more conservative cultures. And anything being westernised is always a disappointment, there's too much of that stuff around anyway, no need to lose your charm just to get popular in America. the typical reply of "people in Korea don't have sex?" is so old lol

Which ones have been woke or edgy? I will admit that the quality of kdramas has dipped significantly due to them…
Several on Netflix for one. Everyone has suddenly started to hate on "tropes" and everything is suddenly "problematic" so I feel like recent dramas have been trying too hard to force in stuff like western shows do. I miss the old drama vibes a lot these days.
On Love Is for Suckers Oct 3, 2022
Sounds like one of those old kdrama story lines not trying to hard to be edgy or woke or cool. I've been missing such stuff. Will give this drama a go.
On Love in Contract Oct 3, 2022
Wanted to watch recent dramas but I always hate anything with PMY in it, her roles are always so annoying and frustrating. And based on the comments and the way this drama is trying to be all edgy and different, I think it will be a waste of time.

Is it looking like a sad ending? I'm concerned about the melodrama tag.

Title Bloody Heart
Is this a sad drama (not sure how to interpret the lovers to enemies tag)?

Lovers to Enemies? Can't tell how this drama is gonna be like. I don't mind a sageuk with a sad ending but what category does this fall into? 😅 Haven't watched a sageuk in agessss and I'm really craving one.

Hope they do. Don't have to make everything like the West.
There's a distasteful amount of sex in western shows, they're all literally a kind of a soft porn now. And I just don't want shows from other regions of the world to become like those too since everyone seems to be wanting to appeal to western tastes so much these days.

Well I hope western fans leave it if they have to give their hot takes about everything. Not every place in the…
Yeah it was blown out of proportions by some viewers. It is mostly western people who obsess so much about political correctness so I assumed that...hope the remaining episodes are chill.
On Sh**ting Stars Apr 30, 2022
Hope the politically correct crowd just drops this drama if they're doing to nitpick about everything. This is not an American Netflix show, not everyone follows the Western style of self-righteous political correctness. And just because they don't, it doesn't make them evil or terrible or whatever everyone's hot takes were making them out to be smh.
Replying to 1-800-thotbegone Apr 30, 2022
Tbh kinda scared of saying something here after WW3 happening for the pass week its suspiciously quiet
Western fans expect everyone and everything to follow their brand of political correctness and if someone doesn't suddenly they think it's terrible and evil. They can just drop the show if they're going to nitpick about everything and watch some woke netflix show smh. Idk why they shove their hot takes everywhere.
Replying to Ultimate Boredom Apr 30, 2022
I still can't watch the episode. I guess they are still working on translations? I hope they don't take longer…
Well I hope western fans leave it if they have to give their hot takes about everything. Not every place in the world follows the West's brand of PC and just because someone doesn't conform to doesn't mean that had bad or evil intentions.
On Sh**ting Stars Apr 30, 2022
This drama has the good old kdrama vibes that current dramas trying to be all different don't have. Hope these nostalgic, old kdrama vibes continue.
On Woori the Virgin Apr 30, 2022
Hope this isn't overly inappropriate given the nature of the theme, what with so many kdramas trying to appeal to western audience recently.
