It's because this is now being forced in discussions of every single show where any same gender characters even talk to each other. Everything is called "queer coded" and even if someone is clearly state, shippers force everyone to consider them "bi". People are enraged because mostly American/western bring this discussion up everywhere all the time now.

I'm noticing that any mild friendship/teamwork/any interaction between same gender characters gets instantly branded as bl/gl by internet people nowadays. This is why I don't like things getting too popular in the US/West... discussions always end up being about labelling characters in a forced way.

Was already tired of historical dramas being ruined by gender swaps, they're bringing it into more TV dramas now...and even though this doesn't sound like BL, I'm sure typical BL international fans will force it as a BL smh

i loved this movie. not sure why people are being nitpicky about it. someone wrote it's the tiktok kids and i agree tbh. if you're not used to such genres and endings and want everything to be straightforward and presented on a plate, this may not be for you. i liked the ending a lot actually and it's interesting to read everyone's theories too. the movie was like a very mild version of strangers from hell.

Anyway, this was one of the really good dramas I've watched this year...I keep dropping dramas cos none seem to be good but I finished this in two days. Very thrilling, kept me hooked, ending was satisfying to me...i do feel a little disturbed so i shall watch something silly and goofy.

I'm guessing this is another squid game type show trying to lecture and teach the viewers about capitalism and unfair society and whatnot? and since it's a netflix original I'm ass5it has pointless sex and violence too?

I'm glad the old fashioned silly dramas are coming back, remind me of older Asian dramas. Am so done with the serious, edgy Netflix shows that try to be like Western shows.

lol, I knew someone was gonna ask that. all the ideas that media (especially western) has been forcefully putting in when it's *not* needed and clearly overdone in a cringey way is what i meant. in this drama, I hope it's not one with forced feminist speeches, and cringey unironic "girl power" scenes.

I really hope it is like the old dramas, I'm tired of modern, overly edgy shows trying to be forcefully cool and woke.

Great refreshing drama that had the vibes of older kdramas without any forced edginess or wokeness or complicated stuff. A sweet and cute show that's relaxing to watch. I'm quite sad to have finished it because I'll miss it a lot and it's hard to find something with the old and simple vibes nowadays.

Is this another show where they'll try and have some woke moral of the story and highlight bad things in society with some sex scenes here and there?

Netflix originals have a different feel from regular TV kdramas which may not be appealing for folks who've been watching kdramas for years. I find netflix originals have the vibe of typical 18+ western shows where they're trying too hard to appeal to western viewers. I'm assuming this show is like that too.

Seems to have a good old nostalgic feel to it like the good old family kdramas.

But I understand, they are connected in some relevant way so I guess I could start with the 2020 show first.

Exactly, dramas before were very relatable and easy to watch. Now they try to mimic western culture and it's not relatable for many Asian viewers. Hope kdramas keep their old charm and simplicity alive, not everything needs to cater to western tastes.
