I’m surprised I made it through a 32ep slow-burn drama, so there’s definitely a reason why everyone was raving about the show - it was well written and a good cast of actors/actresses.

Title The First Frost Spoiler
Mu Cheng Yun is a creep.
But his creepiness turned out to be a good thing in episode 23.

I quit 😫…I can’t watch this anymore.I’m not even feeling anything between the leads.they fell in love…
Similar to Ashes of love as in the context of the FL being optimistic to love and not understanding what it really means, but other than that, there’s no similarities since both brothers don’t like FL and there’s no love triangle.

frankly I don't know why its rated so low, I heard many people gave this 0s from the start because they were fans…
Xianxia became very popular since 2017 because before that I think Chinese Paladin remakes were the closest thing to a xianxia. I highly recommend the first chinese paladin with Hu Ge.

Popular xianxia every year since 2017…
1. Eternal Love (2017) - I watched this and it’s more melodramatic so it can feel draggy.
2. Ashes of Love (2018) - it had comedy and the soundtrack was very popular.
3. Untamed (2019) - BL novel becoming popular in China even though it was censored a lot of fans recreated a lot of clips to make it a BL film lol
4. Love and Redemption (2020) - the reason why people are obsessed with Crystal Yuan and wanted this drama for her and LXY to be together
5. Ancient Love Poetry (2021) - so good that they had spinoff dramas in the same universe moonlight mystique and the last immortal.

New Chinese episode restrictions must be less than 40 episodes
6. Love between a fairy and a devil (2022) - Leads were funny and great and brought a different kind of xianxia storyline.
7. Till the end of the moon (2023) - Leads were awesome. Great storyline all based on earth. Not a lot of heaven scenes.

2024 and on…I would say xianxia are not as popular anymore hence why people are over the repetitive xianxia plots and love never fail didn’t do so well because it was supposed to be released in 2022

The plot isn’t that great for it to be a 40 episode xianxia. The reincarnation storylines basically repeats…
Eternal love got great reviews because it was released when these type of xianxia were popular and plus each lifetime didn’t feel like a filler. However I watched it in 2021 and thought it was boring and it took me a while to finish with a lot of fast forward. I didn’t even bother to watch Eternal Dream of Love. But I think love never fails is an easy watch since the plot isn’t as intense as most xianxia - not a lot of manipulation, rivalry, misunderstanding cause let’s be forreals, love never failed between the leads. Plus the enemies barely had screen time - they would only show up for like a minute to stir up the plot.

Does anyone know where to watch the special episode with subs?
There’s a special at the end of episode 40 ending credits.

damn I was going to watch this but why is the rating so low
The plot isn’t that great for it to be a 40 episode xianxia. The reincarnation storylines basically repeats itself adding little to no value to the plot. The script is poorly written. This is more of a light hearted xianxia that should’ve been about 24 episodes and if it was, I’m sure it would have received better reviews. I think the show is good for a light hearted happy ending xianxia. I think most people who watched this show were LXY and ARP’s fans. And I watched this show cause I want to support LXY and HYX get another drama.

The last conversation with Kulum shows what her punishment was.
Not sure. Extra episode made it confusing on what happened especially without subtitles.

Title Love Never Fails Spoiler
For me, the irritating thing about Chinese dramas is that there are a lot of missing details. Like is it because…
Like the time void itself was confusing. Jinxiu was stuck in the time void in the past for he when he wished for them to still be together the next year after the lattern festival. And when HongNing found him, he said he can’t go with her because he’s stuck in the time void cause his soul traveled until it landed in this mountain and will need time to catch up. Like wtheckkk how?! Wait until the next lattern festival for him to restore his body and come back? Is the time void time traveling or just a dimension like the Marvel Cinema Universe (MCU) where Loki got stuck in the Time Variance Authority (TVA)? There are details in these type of xianxia story lines that just forces you to accept that it make sense and it’s irritating. Also I think their romance would be stronger, if they had more flashbacks to how young Jinxiu became connected with the red camellia and how much he loved the red camellia . They jumped so fast into the romance that the audience had to reason why they are in love with each other based on like first 2 minutes of episode 1.

I don’t mind the acting, but the storyline could be better. I’m watching this show for LXY, HYX and AYP - but this show won’t be a rewatch for me.

For me, the irritating thing about Chinese dramas is that there are a lot of missing details. Like is it because it’s a xianxia, we are just to believe everything without explanation on how this universe works. I don’t know if scenes were cut because of the new Chinese episode restrictions but Korean dramas are good and never seem to miss details in their 16ish episodes and American movies does a good job explaining how things work in the fictional storyline. C dramas need to be better about these details. Cause it seems like because this is a xianxia, it can break the rules.

Title Love Never Fails Spoiler
So does Kun Lun have memories of the Cangwu massacre or not? If he knows about asking Jin Xiu to free them from…
It’s probably because everyone doesn’t know about Hongning’s connection with Baicha yet. Kunlun or Lujiu will probably reveal it later. Plus, Jinxiu wasn’t there when Baicha crashed the party. Jinxiu still thinks everything is his fault because he went to heaven, his dad found about the demon king which lead the Master Taiyi to crash the wedding and plus Jinxiu giving Hongning the bracelet that killed her. I’m curiously why Jinxiu hasn’t looked into why Muxian kept her memories as HongNing when she apparently died.

What's the meaning of Kun Lun as [Hong Ning's senior brother]??
My theory is that Kunlun and Hong Ning are half siblings sharing the same mom. Jin Xiao is the empress’ son and Kunlun and Hong Ning are not. Could be that emperor’s fairy gave birth to Hong Ning later on and with all of Hong Ning’s trials, she’s able to come back to heaven very powerful immortal. Seems like a good xianxia story trope.

Another theory is that Kunlun and Hong Ning are twins and are the emperor’s kids from the fairy. Jin Xiao was kidnapped because he was born with the star. Jin Xiao and Hong Ning were switched and Jin Xiao was forced to take care of Hong Ning when he was a kid. Super far fetch story.

A more reasonable theory is that they both become disciples of Jin Xiao in the mortal realm and Kunlun is Hongning’s senior brother. And I remember reading somewhere that she eventually becomes less bubbly after her master and brother dies, so I assume that is Kunlun and Jin Xiao dying and they actually passed the trial and went back to heaven, but hongning doesn’t know that and she works very hard to defend the border and eventually ascends as an immortal and meets them again.

Eyes closeup was HYX, she has very unique light brown eyes, you can immediately make out it was HYX. In the next…
HYX does have really unique features. When she changes her hairstyle, she looks like a different actress. I can rarely recognize her when she has bangs or not. lol

how is it so far? any semblances to the other xianxia drama— same tropey or something? i wanna start it but…
It’s starting off a lot like Ashes of Love, very light hearted. I think we’re all waiting for the heart break so the story can pick up.

I hope there won't be a love triangle. I don't like love triangles.
I don’t think there will be love triangle. Maybe just a lot of obstacles with the dad?

The fl's looks are not doing it for me. Maybe because she looks too childish. Well maybe they wanted a fl that…
My first FL drama was a river runs through it and I thought she was super young but she’s actually older. She’s 30 right now but I think her innocent features plays the childish character very well. I’m more curious of how she will play the part when this character develops to become more serious.
