I'm genuinely curious, can anyone tell me please about why this series has so much hype around it? I mean the…
- based on popular thai webnovel, most read and sold on several big thai webnovel sites (tunwalai and meb), so it already had the popularity of the novels before airing - the novel is really interesting, the characters are all unique and memorable and the actors they casted are great actors but also perfectly casted looks-wise, as if they jumped out of the novel - the 9 minute trailer really captured everyone's attention at first sight, it felt like a bl that hasn't been done before amongst all university and high school bls (the new trailer is also very good) - cast/actors already have a cult following due to their looks, chemistry and personalities - people just like mafia stuff a lot, just think of all the mafia AU fanfics on AO3 or Wattpad, or movies like The Godfather that is still popular - high budget, three directors, both authors are involved in writing process - Apo is very sexy and we wanna see him get railed
I wonder if this series would be that popular if you cut the +21 part?
Yeah, it's still good. It's based on a SUPER popular novel in Thailand, and I read the novel and the heart and soul of KP are the characters, each with their own unique personality, they're interesting and funny. Besides the characters, the actors are also the heart of the series, it's like they jumped out of the novel, they're casted very well and from what I've seen they're really good actors.
Also, the love the characters in the novel feel for each other is very deep and intense, and me personally love that kind of love in BL novels and dramas. The novel doesn't only have romantic love, but also friendship, sibling love, parental love and family love (what makes a family? finding a family in unexpected places, finding someone who understands you and accepts you even with all your flaws and demons).
At least that's how I interpret the novel, and I think it's also one of the strengths of the story.
The 21+ is cherry on top, it's really sexy yes, but it fits the story and intense feelings the characters feel for each other
I seriously hope Mile and Apo are prepared for the wild storm that is heading their way. They'll become crazy…
I keep thinking this too! Lets enjoy our ´small´ fandom right now, they´re already so popular without the series having aired, imagine the next couple of weeks, I think Apo, Mile, Bible, and Build are gonna blow up soon :D they're gonna be BL superstars
My only thing is Barcode is a 17 y/o baby and Jeff is 9 years older than him… Why cast a minor in such a mature…
In novel, they don't have much scenes anyway, they're always in the background, most of the time Kim is overprotective of Porchay and they're in love but don't even have kiss scenes, so i think it'll be fine, plus i think Porchay was also 16 in the book
