Looking at the statistics of age group for the rating for first episode, most of the lower rating is from an age…
BLs been around since 1970s but i know what you mean, BL dramas are more targeted at young girls/women, i'm 30 and love BL since I was 10 but i don't know if I can be called young anymore lmao
This is one of the many dramas I've been waiting to watch and I'm so happy it already aired! The first episode…
It´s similar to novel! But they deleted some scenes, added some scenes and changed some scenes. In the end they didn't skim over anything important, all our favorite scenes are still there, and it's fast paced, so I'm very happy as a novel reader and also happy that non-novel readers liked it because we miss a lot of Porsche's inside turmoil which was super funny and interesting to read but we could still see it in Apo's acting.
Just watched the episode for the second time, I already liked it but for some reason I like it more now, I think because I got used now to seeing porsche and kinn instead of mile and apo, before it was difficult for me. And I appreciate Barcode's acting a lot more now (he seemed a bit lack luster at first and awkward/unconvincing in certain scenes, but i like it more the 2nd time i watched it). Wish it was next Saturday !!! I can't wait for Vegas and Pete, I am gonna lose my mind.
I have no complaints, I really loved everything, but nothing is perfect and I am a critical bitch so I just want to say the music is a little weak and not memorable, I hope when the dvd or blu ray set is released, they will do something about the music. Because music in film conveys emotion and feelings, it's so important and adds extra dimension, but it lacks and I wish it didn't lack in the music department because everything else is so good. Does anyone agree or not?
Very interested in this one, seeing as how it completely diverges from other Thai BLs in terms of plot. Can't…
To be honest, I just agree with your whole first paragraph. I was also missing close-up shots. I really like close-ups like hands touching, lingering touches, eyes, mouth, it gives us more information about a character and a scene and I was actually expecting those kinds of shots with their high budget I think we may get those during more intimate scenes or future episodes, I wonder who directed this episode. Perhaps, if the other directors do the other episodes, we will see more close ups.
Music is so important and I think they also didn't utilize the music enough. Some scenes would have been better with music, or different back ground music. I wish the music directing (lmao i don't know what it's called) was better, music really adds so much to a show and affects scenes and our emotions so much, but now it's lacking.
About the English and the comedy, both were hit or miss to me, the English being very miss haha, I wish they just spoke Thai, the scene would have been stronger because he could have spoken Thai with more confidence. Comedy, like the toilet joke of Porchay, was not my cup of tea.
Now the action department, it was really great, really feels like I am watching a mafia movie. And I really feel like Mile, Apo and every one of the characters embodied the characters of the novel well. All of them brought the characters I love (or hate) come to life. I really feel blessed because of that. They added new scenes and removed some scenes from the novel, I am happy with the choices they've made because now it's fast paced but not too fast, they didn't skim over very important things. But for example, in the novel, Yok's bar was destroyed 3 times if I remember correctly, it would have been a drag to see Yok's bar get destroyed so many times so I am happy they changed that.
Overall, good episode, not groundbreaking, but definitely caught my attention and I wanna see more of Kinn, Porsche and ofcourse Vegas and Pete. I am literally about to combust.
I'm reading the comments and I don't understand. I know we were all waiting for this drama to come but did you…
> did you really think this first episode was good? Yes
> Mile is seriously bad as an actor No, I thought he did a great job as Kinn???
> They started the episode with the cliche "Sicilian people are mafia". It was a cliché but I liked it, it could have been Russian, Turkish mafia or maybe Yakuza but they went with Italian/Sicilian, idk it's their choice and i'm fine with it
> Have you ever seen a criminal so important as Kinn suppose to be going around just with 1 bodyguard and escape by feet?
IDK
> And what about the shooting? everybody was dying and Kinn and the bodyguard escaped basically every shot, Kinn managed to escape also from 5 people surrounding him and one was with a knife! And then in the bar Porsche fought against everyone but then against Kinn he was beaten as hell.
Did you ever watch a realistic action movie, please be honest here, like Fast & Furious or Tenet, they're often not realistic,
> Do you guys really think this first episode was good? And the inhaler advertising part? Oh jeez. I It's a Thai BL, can't say anything else
>I had so much expectation about this drama and I was so so disappointed, and I usually read to all the comments that I find on MDL because usually, people here are always on the top of the game when it comes to drama and all the comments are a real and critical opinion, but from the comments, I'm seeing now it's just "it was so cool", just because we were expecting the drama? it was bad, like seriously bad, from the acting to the production. I would be happy to see an honest and critical opinion here,
I think you went in with the wrong expectations, I read the novel and also had expectations and they were met, they added new things, removed other things, I am very happy with what they did, the story and characters came to live exactly how i imagined it. Somewhere above, I also posted a small review.
Yeah, I surprisingly liked it. I mean, I've never read the novel, so I'm not sure how closely it follows, but…
It followed the novel closely, some scenes were removed and some were added, as a novel reader i like it :) it's fast paced but not too fast, i'm very, very happy and it was an improvement of the novel!
I was very impressed by the first episode! Mile and Apo did a fantastic job, bringing the characters of the novel to live. I had to adapt to the personalities of Porsche and Kinn, because for two years we followed Mile and Apo and I had to tell myself, wait they're Porsche and Kinn now, don't look at them thinking of Mile and Apo! While watching the episode, I was able to turn the switch about half way. Mile as Kinn, to me, was so sexy, so hot, without showing a lot of skin, it's the confidence, power and mannerisms. I really couldn't see Mile anywhere, the smiley, happy man was replaced by Kinn. He was so amazing. Porsche was borderline annoying, but that means Apo did an amazing job because I remember thinking Porsche was annoying in the novel too sometimes haha.
Porsche's uncle, Korn, Big (nodt), Ken (Perth), and Jom (ping) are really good actors, especially Nodt (Big) caught my attention each time he came into view, he's really great. And Perth going "hey watch your mouth" in English made me squeal likea pig.
Barcode as Porchay, sometimes I thought he looked nervous while acting and not convincing, but at other times he really did a great job. He's very young and this is his first time acting, I think overall he did a good job and I could feel the brotherly love between him and Porsche.
The comedy is hit or miss so far for me, I liked it more towards the ending, suddenly I could enjoy the jokes/comedy more because i got used to kinn and porsche more. Remember i said that i kept thinking of mile and apo, and i was like huh why are their personalities this way, but once i could see the characters and not the actors, i got more into the comedy too, altough some comedy like toilet jokes is not funny to me lol . The action scenes are really amazing, I want to see more of them, and I think there is a good balance of action and non-action scenes. First episode was packed with action, but then it switches to a scene with less action and that was done very well.
The chess game is very interesting, it is foreboding that there is a game being played here by Korn. I wonder if it's gonna be like the novel, or something entirely else.
All in all, really good episode, so excited for the next few episodes, especially Vegas and Pete. We saw Pete for one second blurred in a corner, and I was so happy to see him, but I guess it wasn't his time to shine yet!
lmao but i know they will change some things cause some things can't be aired on tv
Kim and Porchay - happily in love? question mark because we don't see much of them, but they're together and Kim is very overprotective of Porchay
Macau and Khun like a doctor named Top, but I don't think any of them end up with the doctor
