cheong ya is most fascinating to me, also considering her greyness in that she could go either side right now.…
To me Cheong Ya has the same type of feeling as Soo Ho. From Ep. 1, you can already tell Soo Ho already had intention of defecting, I felt the same as Cheong Ya, I never felt her indoctrination is as strong as Gyeok Chan's.
I truly hated how, this late in the game, Cheong Ya will defect because of feels for Soo Ho, like really? She can only have a redemption arc because of a guy... Ugh... I guess Soo Ho is really that charismatic...
I am never a fan of when a drama shows a character is willing to throw everything for a guy, feels quite toxic, especially when it is a one sided love. And it wasn't gradual at all, all of it is left to the audience interpretation and flashbacks.
Not enough of the NK indoctrination is being showed, a lot of it is just filling in the gaps with modern NK ideologies. The betrayals and defections would have MUCH MORE weight, if the lore was fleshed out more.
Her character is almost invisible, kind of the writers fault here. She didn't get much of a chance. Her scenes…
Initially, they made all the other female characters useless so she could shine, which is probably whey she did good in the first few episodes.
But the minute they made the other female characters more useful, Young Ro has literally been a ghost.
Boon Ok, who has way less screen time, has become a much more memorable character.
I feel that the back half of Snowdrop has been really poorly written, IMO. And instead of wrapping things up, they keep tossing in more new plot with only 3 episodes remaining, I already know it's going to be unsatisfying end.
Don't forget we still don't know who the mole is, not that it matters, or what the president's son's importance will be (most likely useless). Or Boon Ok and Ms. Pi's background (I am sure will be unsatisfying)
Yoon In Na and Boon Ok's are so incredibly wasted so that we can get more useless side characters like Hye Roung and Lee Kwang Tae... Sigh....
A cheap way to get it, but it is what it is.
Soo Ho is the central focus though of the story.

Soo Ho, I don't think has feelings for CY at all.
Unfortunately Snowdrop is not utilizing her well.

Then I agree
The ahjummas and the politics part is still the weak points imo.
But EP. 13 is worth watching for Cheong ya scenes alone. She's basically showing why she's a spy.
