Its a big cast, so you never know.

Still not sure why they introduce the old man's son.

I feel like the kdrama community became divided after snowdrop. Its kpopies vs kdrama watchers and every time…
I feel the same, there are too many "Land Mine" topics. But to be fair to the Kpoppies, most of them are quite mature and can handle some criticism. and I just block the ones that are not.

Also, there are enough good posters here to keep the comment section healthy.

Feel free to comment anyway, that's the foundation MDL is supposedly built on.

What I don't understand is, who even coined the word Taedong River 1? And if Kang Moo came up with the code name, why would Soo Ho even know what it meant?

I would like to think the South Korea government has betters things to do with Omicron and stuff than to worry about shutting down an already filmed Kdrama.

They tried to kill this drama but it's went to 8.6 from 7.3 and it's keep growing. That's what we calls stfu
I normally wait 1-2 months after drama is done to see the true ratings. Or as true as they can get on MDL.

I wonder if this comment section will surpass start up. Only time will tell lmao.
Maybe not. What made start up comment section blow up was the ship war.

There isn't a ship war in this one.

Also, startup had an almost endless stream of theories and analysis because more than half the viewers really wanted a certain lead to win the heart of the FL.

Almost every episode has about 1k comments.

In snowdrop, each episode is averaging about 300 comments. At this slow rate, it will take a bit of a Christmas Miracle to hit the 30k mark.

It may surpass 20k though I feel. But 30k comments is a different type of beast altogether, and very few comment sections on MDL hit that mark.

Start Up comment section was legendary.

I think the brother is alive for now. Because her brother's death will add more to the list of the things the ML has to redeem to have a credible love story with the FL.

If Soo Ho was on that boat, I am sure things would not have turn out so badly, so Young Ro could have blamed him for it.

If Young Ro's brother lives, it's one less thing Soo Ho has to redeem himself with. And as you say, her brother is her world, so it may even be unredeemable.

1. I think Cheong Ya being a spy for NK seems like too obvious of a plot line. I suspect she instead works for the CIA, similar to Soo Ho.

2. Ms. Pi is most likely a NK spy, which is why she is cold towards ANSP.

3. I suspect Boon OK or her sister had something to do with the last head mistress killing herself.

4. I like the theory about the kitchen lady, it's a possibility.

5. Ms. Pi is a spy, and could be the female voice giving instruction to Soo Ho.

6. Young Ro's brother may be very well dead at this time or dead soon. I don't think he will have a major role to play.

7. Prof Han dies in Ep. 5. There is only one party in North Korea. The lady beside Soo Ho's father probably suspects that Soo Ho's ideology has changed. And it is not uncommon to have those with different ideologies executed. She also appears to be of lower station to Soo Ho's father, so he may just be ambitious and want to ursurp his position.

8. I detailed in my comment above, that the message from the bug could be an old message.

9. The code that Soo Ho intercepts showing a change of plan interestingly enough happens when Ms. Pi enters the room. If Ms. Pi is a NK spy as I suspect, she could have been the one to send that message for Soo Ho to eventually receive.

10. There is already suspicion on where Soo Ho's true loyalties lies. Just the nice way he treats Professor Han shows that he may either be unfit to lead or have already changes his ideology.

11. That would mean that Gang Moo was leaked information, which would bring his loyalty into question. I believe Gang Moo is just a capable anti-spy agent and much like Moby Dick, he became determined to capture Taedong River 1.

12. I think it is to show that Hosu Dorm is not just your average dorm, but a dorm that houses a lot of political elite, and wealthy South Korean's children. Which double downs on my suspicion of Ms. Pi being a spy.

13. Taedong River 1 could possibly be somebody else, as this would absolve Soo Ho of any murders of ANSP agents, and make his movement back to ML much more believable.

Up until now, we are presented two sides. The North Koreans and the ANSP

Having extra spies in Snowdrop kind of doesn't make sense to me.

If Taedong River 1's sole mission is to bring Prof Han to defect to North Korea as an electoral plot to denounce the opposition, why would there be a need for other spies to keep an eye on Nam Tae il and no spy for Young Ro's father? What would North Korea even do with this information?

Based on other information gleaned from the intercepted message, it does appear that someone in Hosu Dorm is also a spy for the North. But it clearly said, they were searched. And only other person that was searched in the dorm is the old man (doubt he is a spy), and possibly Ms. Pi, when the agents attempted to search her office, before she shut it down.

Interesting things about bugs in the 1980's. I remember seeing some older spy films, and if I am not mistaken, the bugs are not like how they are today where these is bluetooth. The bugs pick up and record information. So this information we see on the bug could be old information, and could actually be talking about the events that happened in Ep. 1, which would make sense.

I think, there is a possible third side, that is funded by the CIA to overthrow the Aemin government.

Possibly.

I just am pointing out that the victims concerns are validated.

I see comment saying the victims are snowflakes and crazy. And I am just saying they kind of havr a point. Politics is such a gray area. And it's hard to say who is right or wrong. That's my only point.

I don't agree with cancellation of the drama. But I can respect the victims concerns.

Why not?

People talk about America and us politics and us history and us theories all the time even though they are Americans. How is this any different?

The world is a global playground and people can and will meddle in affairs not of their own, and it's their right as long as it's in a respectful forum.

Like someone said, you don't need to be a citizen there to have an opinion.

Like the Bible for example. Should it only be written by jews. Is a Bible written by a Chinese person worth less?

How would they even know? Do they have a list of all North Korean Intelligence under cover agents? It's always hard to make an absolute statement like that.

Are there spies in US right now?

Are there spies in Europe now?

Spies exist all over the world from all countries, for whatever agenda.

This isn't Xmen, where there are machines that can detect whether someone is a mutant or not.

Whether someone is a spy or not, we can only assume.

Have you actually read up on the Chun Do Hwan admin? Are you saying they are evil, because they are a militaristic regime? A lot of their tactics seem consistent with other militaristic and even socialist/communist regimes. What makes Chun Do Hwan's more evil?

How are the ANSP bad if the tactics they employ consistent with intelligence agencies of militaristic, socialist and communist regimes? Is it possible, the South Koreans are just more sensitive in general?

Actually, the pro-democracy movement didn't quite end. It may have lessened in numbers, but they are still there at the time to make sure Roh Young Tae keeps his promises he made on June of 1987. Keep in mind that Roh Young Tae actually won the election, and he is a crony of Chun Do Hwan. In the context of Snowdrop, it is as if Nam Tae il won the elections. The reasons of why he won are on the internet. Snowdrop definitely brings into debate whether he cheated or not though.

The FL is sympathetic to the pro-democracy movement due to her roommate Jeong Min, and her brother, who was wrongfully arrested.

Whether it is the ANSP bringing in the spies, or just NK sending in spies. Snowdrop's treatment of Soo Ho does bring in the interesting debate of how easy it was for North Korean spies to hide among protestors. It is also entirely possible that those NK spies who was hiding among protestors, were further radicalizing the student protestors to do more illegal things.

Just read up a bit what is happening with HK protestors right now. It's very interesting and parallels a lot of what happened during the 1980-1987 in South Korea.
