Before I go away and shut up about the controversy I want to address the comment that only Koreans have the right…
When people do not know about a subject, they will react in three possible ways. Let us talk for example the topic of whether Snowdrop is a good Drama or not.

1. People either, just parrot what the majority of people are saying, and are adverse to taking the opposite position due to possible shaming. So even if they have a different personal experience, they will discard their personal freedoms and adopt a group speak/think type of discourse.

2. People, actually study, research and understand the drama, and make their own informed decision based on personal experience.

3. People, will read drama reviews, and pre-decide that is the truth, that the drama must be good or bad without really trying to get to the deeper aspects of the drama.

It's the same with history I feel. Do we trust, the scholars, regardless of their culture, bias, age, and etc... Or do we trust the personal experience of someone who lived through it regardless of their culture, bias, age, and etc...

Is there really a difference?

One can attempt to argue, that the person that is experiencing a bad historical event, will be reluctant to paint a historical event, as just that, a historical event.

But is the scholar any better? Try as they might, modern writing techniques, foresight, hindsight, and numerous literature tools, have in their hands the power to subconsciously change the narrative, regardless of how much they choose not to do so. Something as simple as the color of the book's cover, has the power to change the first impression someone has when picking up that book.

Why do people seem to place so much importance in history in the first place? Of course the famous reason is that "So we can learn from the mistakes of the past". But really? does this really occur?

If people are really learning from their past mistake, then mistakes would be eliminated this 2021. Clearly we are not robots, to be human is to err. And as much as we are trying to learn, what we are instead doing is entrenching ourselves, probably subconsciously in a labyrinth of lies, half truths, and biases, that by the end of the maze, if we ever get out of it, we are left with something that no longer resembled what actually happened.

The reality of it, is that people crave to know about another person, culture, country so that they can create pre-conceive notions about that particular subject.

Why do we need to know what previous works this particular writer has done? It is so because we subconsciously want it to affect our thinking about their future works.

And that I feel is the biggest danger about trying to find out about someone's history. We place too much importance on either personal experiences of victims, books written, reports, News video and etc... This really colors our perspective on the subjects, and opens us up to vulnerabilities to be radicalized, regardless which side of the fence you will choose.

Why pray, can't we just let history be what it is. Just a stepping stone to get where we are. Why the need to learn from history, when the information will be outdated, and the sources unqualified anyway.

Why cant I see it on Disney+?
Because Disney+ like Netflix has content that is dependent on the country you are in.

At the moment, Disney+ Asia, and not all of Asia mind you, has Snowdrop. The rest of Disney+, including the country that created DIsney+ has it. But after Ep. 16 is done showing, they will release all of it.

The thing is, why bother with the inconsistent rules in the beginning. Ms. Pi is shown to be a no nonsense authority figure at the dorm, in fact the girls were so scared that even if one of them were to slip up, all of them would get punished, which help foster that closeness the girls felt and the need to cover for each other. It was one of the more interesting parts of the first few episodes.

But fast forward, a few episodes and suddenly Young Ro gets all the blame? It's inconsistent ruling like this that really weakens all the background building in earlier episodes.

Which is why the OST has up until Ep. 5 as a huge distraction to the overarching tone of the drama. It almost seems like the showrunners didn't trust the audience enough to create their own thoughtful analysis or story building that the show deemed it necessary to hand hold the viewers through each and every single scene. Ok time to laugh now, ok time to cry now, ok time to swoon now. There is very little nuances in the writing that just like most of the characters, the viewers are just being thrust into one awkward situation into another.

I truly think Young Ro is confused as to who her alliances are suppose to be. But one thing is clear, she loves the underdog, she loves playing dorm nurse to whoever is in the position of weakness. Considering the number of bullets on the floors, the number of property damage strewn around, it doesn't seem like, any of the girls, including Young Ro, understands the seriousness of the situation. And if they did, I feel there is a disconnect, and it is not projecting well to viewers like myself.

The thing is, because the writer wrote Young Ro to be such a doormat to everyone, including her own personal fetishes, they leave her character with very little plausible avenues to grow properly as a character. Like I said in another comment, maybe it is not Jisoo's fault that her character is so one-toned but the writing. I notice that a lot of the characters lack complexity, and this may just be the writer's shortcomings. I haven't watched Sky Castle, but I am starting to doubt the ability of the writer to write multi-dimensional characters seeing how Snowdrop is coming out.

The writers were so enamored with making sure that Young Ro and Soo Ho got enough screen time in the first few episodes, that it failed to build a proper connection between the denizens of Room 207, that when they were all crying due to Young Ro's expulsion, I felt very little emotions attached to it. Instead of trying for proper consternation, the other members of RM 207 just doubled down on their own crazily caricatured characters, as if shouting louder, or crying more suddenly equates to acting.

DEAR ALL, please IGNORE Snowdrop's HATES AND CONTROVERSIES. They're exaggerating things, and we know it'll happen…
Actually it's hard to say this is just a South Korea thing.

There have been many Asian movies that have been far more controversial. And many western ones as well. Sure there will be people that will see the satire in controversial western movies but let's not pretend that there isn't.a big contingent wanting to cancel those as well.

Most likely he is a high ranking position in the opposition party. The whole plan was for him to denounce the opposition party as some sort of shadow puppet funded by North Korea.

Youngro is the least problematic character of them all. Acted out of goodwill and owned the consequences for it,…
She's not owning up to anything in my opinion. In fact, Boon Ok's parroting in Ep. 5 really encompasses what the viewers are feeling. "It's all your fault". But even before Young Ro can mull the brevity and consequences of her actions, Ms. Pi comes in with the "Let's not blame anyone".

But in reality, there is no real or clear danger. Even though this is a hostage situation, and the tense music is supposed to set the tone of danger, it never really feels like it at all. There are very little consequences at this moment, nobody has been hurt of the hostage, except for that one guy who got peed on. Battle Royale this situation is not.

Young Ro's character IMO is quite inconsistent. Soft, Hard, Strong, Weak, Innocent, shrewd, and etc...

She's basically a Ditto, that is shifting her character to whatever the scene needs.

When she finds out the truth, and she was trying to show the viewers she was deeply wounded by the betrayal, it didn't show. It actually seemed more she was happy that after not hearing from Soo Ho for so long, that he came back to her.

I would have preferred if they stretched out the hostage crisis scene, and create a proper dynamic between Young Ro and Gang Moo, than Soo Ho at this point. But to be honest, her reasons for helping Gang Moo are also a puzzler.

It seems Young Ro, as someone has pointed out before, just craves drama and danger, and will just flock to whatever injured dove is close by.

Snowdrop is nothing like normal kdramas. In episode 5 we got conflict and stakes that would be penultimate episode…
If everyone dies in Ep. 6, and everything else is flashbacks, I will give this a 10/10 just because the showrunners have shown they are gutsy and willing to think outside the box.

I've seen enough hostage situation movies to figure out how some things will pan out. Realistically, this is how I predict things will go.

Ep. 6 - 9

Will most likely still take place in the dorm. Because renting Daegu University must cost a lot, and they have to make full use of it. The hostage takers were given their demands, but were double crossed, and so they will become more brutal because of anger, and choose to retaliate.

During this time the crazy NK spy wants to kill someone every hour or whatever timeline they choose. Soo Ho, will resist at first, but then Crazy NK spy and Soo Ho will glare at each other with intensity, and Soo Ho will eventually relent.

A big chunk of the episode will probably be suspenseful as they figure out who will be the first to die. In the meantime, one of the hostages, Ms. Pi, old man or whoever is going to be able to escape or whatever, and go all John Mclane.

Or alternatively, there may be a shootout, and some hostages will get injured or whatever, and will need medical aid. So ANSP will need to send in a doctor to help tend the wounded. This doctor will either end up being a hostage, or will have some sort of secret mission to kill someone, or end up as a defector and side with the North Koreans.
