Wow, this is an amazing prequel/background! Is this from the novel? I've long suspected that there is more to the characters than meets the eye, especially Xiao Duo, his being a fake eunuch covering a much bigger secret. Reading your comment gave me goosebumps. It made Unchained Love 100 times more interesting, laughing in the face of all those who claim UL is boring and has no story. This story would fit in the world of GoT! That is, the Game of Thrones with Jon Snow and Daenerys.

I'm almost done re-watching the first 18 episodes. It seems I need to re-re-watch some of them to see details I've missed.

Netizens also lambasted the FL in LBFAD at first, complaining about her "annoying" voice. I hope Yuqi and UL overcome these initial criticisms as Esther Yu and LBFAD did. Yuqi's character Bu Yinlou is unusual for an FL so I think viewers just need to get used to it. I think she's doing a great job bringing a witty ex-tribute lady to life.

I have been wondering whether I was the only one who felt like this as I keep hearing good things about this drama thus I started it. But I couldn't stomach her rudeness. Even enemy soldiers who are wounded are supposed to be treated with care. She treated him like a dog based only on her suspicions.

Rewatching episodes 1 to 18 (while waiting for new episodes to arrive) is making me admire the drama more. And, while I didn't feel the chemistry between Xiao Duo and Bu Yinlou in the first few episodes during my fist viewing, I'm feeling it now from their first interaction. I'm now feeling how heart-fluttering XD's facial expression is (specially his eyes) when he looks at BYL. Also, familiarity with the music, especially the Moonlight Song, makes some scenes feel more heartwarming.

I am also finding more laughable moments, mostly silly remarks by the witty Bu Yinlou. That is, I'm really enjoying this rewatch.

Oh, I thought the r@pe you mentioned was in the past. I'm glad, then, that Xiao Duo was not as bad as I thought. I agree that his self-hatred might have stemmed from having killed people directly or indirectly. I hope that the drama Xiao Duo would not do that beastly act to BYL. Come to think of it, when the novel XD did so, wasn't it because he was just clueless because of his inexperience? Maybe he thought he wasn't forcing himself on her?

i'm really admiring how smart BYL was written to be. Qiao Duo too. He knew she could extricate herself from the situation thus didn't bother "saving" her 😁 They were able to defeat the villains with no sweat; she even won a dowry 🤣🤣

I haven't watched BTS clips before watching the drama and I don't feel like the drama is missing scenes. It is flowing smoothly and I am enjoying it immensely.

this is one of the laugh-out-loud tidbits of this drama. BYL's sister Yin Ge was supposed to keep her hostage as bait for XD. Instead, Yin Ge drove BYL out of the house after losing even her dowry to BYL 😆 And BYL pretended to not want to leave, asking Yin Ge to play more games. BYL is a genius 😆

in the drama, XD despises himself and only BYL's belief that he is a good person seems to be curing him of his self-hatred. So he must really have done horrible things in the past. Perhaps r@pe was one of them. Who did he assault? Why? If the drama XD also has this past, then his self-hatred actually indicates that he is not totally bad. He hates the bad things he did. I therefore see this as a redemption story. About how love can heal even the darkest soul and clean the dirtiest past.

the airing of this drama was delayed at least once. I suspect it might have something to do with censorship which I suspect is due, in turn, to the premise of this drama. It is about a fake eunuch who flirted or slept his way to the top. Just the premise itself can cause viewers' imagination to soar; if he is a eunuch, how did he flirt or sleep with women? So, I think this drama got more strictly censored than normal.
