I started this, but I can NOT get behind an FL who is willing to lie about being pregnant to trick a man into…
I will try to clarify it for you (I know the other commenter also replied). She was devastated because she dreamed of having children. The show made it seem like her husband didn't know in the first episode and when ML asks her what her fiance would do if he found out, she just didn't respond until episode 2 where she clarifies he knows and it was the fiance's plan all along to lie to his family about her "pregnancy"
It was just the show creating drama because it was meant to be like a big reveal that he knew the entire time
In my view it was entertaining and I was eager to keep watching. I love the cast and the chemistry between KSH…
While I don't think QOT is anything close to a masterpiece (it was still a fun, entertaining drama), Signal and Flower of Evil aren't either imo. I liked Signal even though it was flawed in a lot of ways (the whole "rich guys are always bad" and them figuring things out from "detective hunches" were ehh)
However, Flower of Evil bothered me with a lot of its plot holes and that they couldn't stay true to its premise. I thought Flower of Evil had a lot of potential but they ended up assigning all the evil stuff to everyone but the ML. Like, the cat killing was revealed to be the ML's sister, the murders were all from ML's father etc. I was expecting the drama to be quite psychological, in that FL has to consider whether she has to reveal her husband's crimes as per her legal duty or if she were to turn a blind eye to her "perfect" husband. The drama really let me down by keeping him as somewhat of a perfect husband. Also the scene where he said he doesn't love his wife to his sister also made no sense to me
I think you might enjoy some of my favorite dramas like Move to Heaven and Devil Judge. Imo, Devil Judge is really close to a masterpiece but two annoying characters kinda deter it from reaching that level
Kim ji won and Kim Soo Hyun with their fantastic acting and chemistry saved this drama and made it to reach the…
I disagree with you. I feel like this is one of the first few dramas where the ml and fl were NOT perfect. They had lots of problems in their relationships which boiled down to personality flaws rather than "misunderstandings" and "communication issues". FL was like a tiger mom but to her husband, never empathizing with him, always yelling at him and being overly jealous/immature. ML literally wanted his wife to die from a tumor in the first few episodes
I'm not sure if that's what you would call perfect lol but I really enjoyed both of them learning to work on themselves and improve their relationships
Lol this is what social media hype does. Imo this drama was overrated. Yes it had it's moments but is it the best…
For me personally, CLOY and QOT are two completely different types of dramas
My issues with CLOY are that even though it is supposed to be more grounded in realism, a lot of the elements felt makjang. SeRi is one of the richest CEOs and that villain infiltrates her security team? She takes that long to locate him in South Korea when she has all the money in the world she can spend? It makes no sense to me personally . Also, ML and FL are perfect people in CLOY, which is like ok. Don't get me wrong, CLOY is a strong drama but I'm just pointing out criticisms
For me, QOT is a lot more unrealistic and falls into that rom com fiction but it elicits a lot of emotions due to its heartfelt nature. What I loved about it is that similar to CLOY, it's a romance that subverts tropes. It is not meant to be as grounded into reality as CLOY but its plot is sensical and the story made sense. I also loved the character dynamics between everyone and how they became a family. I also loved that FL and ML were both really flawed people who worked on themselves throughout the drama. FL was an overbearing, unempathetic wife to her husband. Meanwhile, Baek HyunWoo wanted his wife to literally die from her tumor...I wouldn't wish that on someone I hate
Stuff that annoyed me about QOT is Baek HyunWoo's relentless plot armor like surviving a car crash and then getting shot. It also felt too makjang-ish. I was also annoyed with the female gaze imposed on SooCheol and how he accepted DaHye back with no repercussions.
QOT is lighthearted whilst also being refreshing for its genre whereas CLOY is a really nice drama for a more serious tone. Both dramas are ofc flawed and I can see the appeal for both
I disliked Crash Landing to an almost irrational degree, which was why I put off watching QoT. QoT, however, proved…
Tbh, I disagree with you. I sorta feel like what you said applies more to QOT. Arguably, the characters, particularly Baek HyunWoo and the mother of Hong HaeIn, who both went from selfish and shallow to self sacrificing. I didn't have a problem with this character development personally though, it seemed plausible
For CLOY, my main criticism would be how absurd the drama becomes. The FL is a literal CEO, can buy out anything in the world but somehow the main villain travels to South Korea easily and infiltrates her security team...it makes no sense. Private corporation owners and millions get away with a lot of shit - she got really nerfed to give the drama unnecessary tension
QOL did well in this aspect. I felt like all the plot points in regards to the legal stuff and corporation politics was easy to follow through and sensical. I didn't like Baek Hyunwoo's weird plot armor (dude survived an insane car crash and a bullet near his lungs), as well as the pervading female gaze imposed upon main characters (like SooCheol not once feeling anger towards DaHye)
If only they manage to write better, detailed & interesting individual characters from first step so when they…
Hard agree
I think having them being a couple is fine as long as the characters are well written and there is a great story on top. Extraordinary You did this well (they were implied to be a couple rather than officially but they both knew they liked each other)
I also have seen like an episode of Taxi Driver but not enough to really know about his character
It was just the show creating drama because it was meant to be like a big reveal that he knew the entire time
I love Lee JeHoon as well. Move to Heaven really shows his acting prowess so I think you'll enjoy. I also watched Move to Heaven after Signal
I think QOT did overdo some makjang elements but the plot (mostly) made sense
I especially loved how flawed the couple was and how they worked together on their relationship
However, Flower of Evil bothered me with a lot of its plot holes and that they couldn't stay true to its premise.
