Real death or fake one since we’ve had both this season lol.
That’s the thing! I was expecting to feel sad but that whole montage annoyed me…I was yelling at Chu Chu to get out of there and wondering why Leng Yue would have left her despite being told not to leave her for a minute. Then flashing so quickly to the two boys. Too much theatrics too little impact.
Ep 19 was better - some surprises and more emotional impact.
Real death or fake one since we’ve had both this season lol.
Actually if it were the brother, that might have been a good twist. There has not been a lot of surprises. Wu Jiang was the one who died. The show did this whole montage of Chu Chu being attacked, and while Wu Jiang is being killed protecting her, the slipped in scenes of Xiao Jin Yu and Jing Yi having their final meal before their execution, and some other scenes. Somehow the whole thing just fell flat for me.

Fake one was exposed during the previews so no drama there :D The real death towards the end of ep 18 should have evoked some emotions even for a non main character but I felt nothing. And the whole montage towards the end, with the death, Chu Chu, the buddies and their "last meal", etc all felt kind of meh...
I am going to try and watch tomorrow's episodes with a better attitude!
Wow ep 1&2!!!…I started and eyes was glued, can’t wait to see ep 3 & 4. So we begins with WuYue’s…
I really had to pay attention to keep track of everyone, the factions and the motivations. One thing for sure - I already hate one person so much and I want to see him die a terrible death...he is such a weasel.
A gritty start, with a stark portrayal of humanity at its rawest and most unsettling—where judgment comes before evidence, loyalty is fragile, and betrayal and greed feel almost inevitable. No sugarcoating here. So many Qian Hongs… but young Qian Hong Chu is leaving a strong impression.
Oh well—after all the drawn-out theatrics, someone's death was underwhelming, and what was supposed to be suspense just turned into eye-roll moments. Maybe things will flesh out better in tomorrow’s episodes, but Episode 18 was painful.
Watched up to ep 7 and it's fun and very entertaining so far. Reminds me of Lost Romance which is one of my favourite Taiwanese dramas but it has its own flavour and twists. Love seeing CXX's secret little smiles again. WYW can do comedy so well. They make a cute couple!
but he didnt say he loves her .every cat and dog can say they like me
Yeah it will be interesting to see how they are going to give us a happy ending - even for someone he loves, he shouldn’t be expected to give up his career.
Episode 16 finally reminded us that Chu Chu and Xiao Jin Yu actually have some smarts. Their deductive skills are kicking in, and it's a relief they are not falling for the snake hiding in plain sight anymore. At least they realized how much of an instigator that person was. About time. 😏 The plot is so prescriptive though....adding the new screenwriter was a bad idea.

I think they went through a lot that brought them together even closer in a more honest way but maybe not right into passion yet. The pacing makes sense to me where they are realizing their feelings for each other.
Gosh! I love your review and the way you expressed it.. you pretty much summed up my experience with this drama…
I am so glad that you liked the show too! We need more dramas with couples like that. Just thinking about their romance is like an instant mood booster 😊
I binged through this drama in two days and really enjoyed it. The lead couple were so charming. The FL won me over—even in her wilful, mildly bratty phases—while the ML was the textbook green flag. Call him a simp if you want, but he was no doormat: he pushed back when it mattered, and still loved with an open, honest heart. He fell hard—and honestly who could blame him? I love the idea of learning each other's language (emotional especially) as part of them growing personally and together.
The travelogue scenes were lovely (pretty places + pretty people = instant serotonin), and I ended up really liking the SML too. I mean… that man is ridiculously good-looking.
Skinship was just right, the chemistry was chemistry-ing, and while the second couple didn’t fully capture my attention, they didn’t ruin the mood either.
All in all: a solid watch. Slightly draggy in parts, but entertaining enough that I kept on watching.
As you, I find this season frustrating to watch and not as enjoyable as season 1. The characters seem disjointed…
I am glad that I am not the only one...I felt guilty for not feeling the great chemistry between our CP this season 😅 Even their investigation feels boring, "very step by step" and lack the oomph element that engaged us in Season 1.
Oh well, we are already half way there so let's see whose guesses are correct...hehe!
