You're right. That kind of pressure does exist. I was in investment banking for several years, and there was a lot of socializing. Luckily I never felt compelled to drink.
However, I don't know how it is for people in sales where there is more expectation to cater to clients. There are definitely sexist pigs out there, so like you said, who's to say what is more realistic?
