I don't ship DFJ and LC but I do wish they end up spending the rest of their time together as kindred spirits.
LC remains one of my favourite characters and what you said about the way she handled BCF was spot on. I hate that in the end she was still helpless against him but at least BCF was not gloating. That would have pissed me off!
I had the same suspicion about what BCF could have done to ZXY - when they dragged her out showing her legs and bare feet, I was already dreading. I am grateful that at least the show had SMZ rescue her first before she was violated by the other men. If that happened, and another woman suffered, that would be the last straw for me!

That's the thing - if they cannot give us good characters, at least try to make them as attractive as possible. Now I cannot even enjoy the show on a superficial level - haha.
You are so right - it's probably not so much the acting but the character development itself that was so disappointing. BCF really is such an a**hole at this point. Even if he ended up having a hidden agenda, what he's doing to LC now would make it very difficult for me to forgive him.
Yeah - I am still interested in Lei Mei and what's she's up to.

Episode 32 was just irritating - one event that I just want to fast forward due to lack of interest in the characters, and other event that I wish never happened because my heart ached for SMZ.
I get that the director was probably trying to contrast the primary emotions between two events but at this point, I don't care that much.
The only positive thing was LC's request to DFJ and his decision after that.

Episode 31 - WTH???
BCF has become this miserable pitiful character. He's become evil but at the same time, the show was still trying to show some conflict within him. Unfortunately LYN was not pulling it off for me. It was almost like he's overacted the evil side of BCF, plus his hairstyle is annoying.
Then all these scenes with WXS and WR which again bored me since I have zero interest in them.
Still trying to figure out Lei Mei and her attraction to BCF - I shipped them previously but now I am disgusted by their mutual desire for power.
Only interesting moments for me were SMZ's appearances with BCF, ZXY etc. He still maintained his coolness.

I actually started looking at anime hair styles because of the shaggy styles sported by the male leads and other characters. I can definitely see some influences. The problem is that the stylist combined anime with period drama like the man buns. As we can tell, there are some obvious hair fails

Yeah - the episodes are tropey but at the same time not - the show does the tropes in a refreshing way and makes it entertaining for us.

I totally agree with you - if they can deliver on the political conflict, then it would be a well-packed drama. I think we would need more that 40 episodes though 😁

Yeah there are lots happening. For me, the only indication of QiMu’s dismissal was when GQF met him on the way to seeing the Emperor. At that time, GQF said that he heard that because of the Hat Demon scare, the Emperor had allowed Qi Mu to leave the capital and rest outside for a period of time.

NP - I like that we can share information with each other. Like your question about GQF’ mother or aunt. I the responses cleared things up for me too!

I think it’s twofold - one is to make room for GQF to get the Capital Security Office Commissioner position which was Lei Jing’s position and two is to show respect to Lei Jing who is his boss. Even if Lei Jing didn’t do anything directly, he still gets credit for having “managed” well
