UPDATE: I skimmed through it. It's pretty much scene for scene with the usual Korean twist and the MAIN leads got the happy ending here than in the Japanese version. The other couple was pretty much the same. Well, that's that on that.
This show was okay and it was one big sike, but it went on entirely too long for no reason. It got boring halfway through and I only finished it just to see how it all ended. Also, don't look for romance. This was the SLOWEST of burns and it hardly had any romantic moments between the leads. It was like watching siblings or close BFFs. The best episode was the last one, if you're looking for romance and an epic ending. Long live the 2nd brother!!!!!!

Tan Si's death hit me the HARDEST because the actor literally stole the show every episode he was in. I was DEVASTATED. I at least wanted him to get out.
It was honestly the best damn thing I've ever seen. Who knew I would enjoy Republican Era dramas. The leads were such a power couple and were always one step ahead of the game, supporting each other. You kind of get so into all the plotting and betrayals, that you forget sometimes it's supposed to have a romance plot. It burned my gears that Evan Lin was the second lead though, but I got over it. He's a pretty good actor!!My little baby in his military outfits. hu hu hu!!!!! The strategizing, the twists and turns, the comedy. This drama had everything and you don't get bored. I highly recommend this. I swear we all need a Commander Tan in our lives.

OMG, how did this get an 8.5 rating? This was honestly the dumbest thing I've watched. It was like a watered down version of Extraordinary You. The story in the novel was so annoying, I couldn't stand the FL there. The outside story was great, so the last half of the show is what was keeping me invested or I would've dropped this at episode 9. Then the ending....what? I also wanted to run a brush through FL's hair and change her entire wardrobe. IT WAS UGLY! I also liked the SML better than the ML, but then later ML & FL started to have AWESOME chemistry, BUT, I still was rooting for SML. Sidenote though, I loved how as the episodes progressed, ML started to realize just how ANNOYING ChuChu was.
I feel this has a high rating because the skinship was on point, which is always a plus with T-dramas (they tend to have great love scenes that satisfy Western audiences, but are still tastefully done to suit Eastern audiences) because DAMN, I wanna be kissed by Marcus Chang too, but other than that, the story line was nuts. The siblings couldn't decide who were more evil and kept messing up themselves. 😂😂
Eh, it was what is was, but stick around for episode 10 I guess. Some of these characters weren't really likable. In a scene in episode 10, I was waiting for one of them to go " But what that mouth do." or "Let me show you what this mouth can do." But then I was like, nope, this isn't American TV. I did LOL at the best friend leaving to find himself and came back looking like a hobo.
This drama was as bland and as dry as unseasoned chicken and KFC biscuits. The leads were boring, the characters were boring and it just pretty much dragged. It only decided to pick up at episode 13, then it dragged again til the end. It had every drama cliche you could think off and all it was missing was a fake pregnancy plot and a murder. The female lead was a great character in the beginning, but immediately after she got feelings for the male lead, it's like she lost her identity and just became annoying. I started to get bored and just skipped directly to the last episode. I didn't miss much and the end was bleh.
This drama was honestly....perfect. I can't find a bad thing to say about it. The cast had great chemistry, the story flowed well. This dethroned A Love So Beautiful for me as being the best c-drama. The fact that the leads dated during this and are now married in real life with a kid makes this drama extra beautiful.
I was watching this and thinking, all this needed was a cat and this would've been Because This is my First Life all over again. *queue the cat* Ooop........
1. Satoh Takeru is gorgeous and he has his smolder to a T. Hell, when the camera man kept panning into his face, my heart skipped a beat. They did it so many times I'm assuming the crew was just f**king with us at that point. 2. This was like watching an alternate version of Mischievous Kiss and dare I say, this was better with all it's cringey glory. The FL was still a simp, but she had her own footing and could actually function as a reasonable adult. She was also SMART!!! I mean yea, she made a few mistakes like walking out of her own shoes, at least she could boil water and operate an elevator. 3. Male lead was ice cold, but had the kindest heart. He wasn't too overly mean and you can see when he slowly started to fall for her. 4. Their chemistry was cute, the supporting cast was great too. 5. It was hilarious and had a bunch of sweet, romantic moments. I didn't care for the other couples though. 6. I would recommend watching this along with the side story for better viewing because the side story shows the missing parts from the main story and the show actually flows better like that. For example, when you watch episode one, watch the side story episode one right after. This might be my favorite J-Drama yet.
Great show until it got to episode 18. Then it went to shit. It's hilarious and I'm sure the creators did some serious drugs making this one, but damn, it was like 3 stories in one drama.
