It's that internal courage that Yeong beom lacked. At first, he looks exactly like the future analog of Gwan-sik, the awkward puppy dog following her around, them crying loudly all the time, his goofy shouting. But he didn't have that internal strength to be his own person. We saw that for sure in the flashbacks in this ep of Gwan-sik where he sat at the table with his wife and daughter and refused to think it was an issue. We saw it previous eps where as a boy he says he wants to be the future first lady to Ae-sun and doesn't care that the aunties laugh at him - and twenty-something years later he loves that it came true and utterly ignores the old men teasing him. Yeong beom lacked that.
It's also interesting that in the final conversation between Ae-sun and his mother, Ae-sun figured him out AND HIS FUTURE precisely when his mother tells her that the weight of the two of them not getting married is like a boulder lifted off her shoulders, and Ae-sun tells her - and I did NOT expect those words - that the boulder would fall on Yeong Beom's heart. Which it did.
You do see at the end of 12 how Seon ho's character definitely syncs up more with the courage of her father.
With IU' great acting in When Life Gives you Tangerine, im pretty sure she gonna slays every characters she's in. Not sure about the ML but from what I've seen, he isnt bad tho. Looking forward to watching it
