HFM and ZY, are cutest couple, and HFM has grown up after Ep. 18, like 360 degree change in attitude, and thinking. But she still can be found irrational sometime, which is like no problem.
They were having this big issue of moving, she wants to move back to her city, and he wants to stay in his city. Situation is very realistic, both are absolutely right in their place, she wants to go back to look after her dad, while he has everything in his city. They first fight and had problems, but HFM handles things maturely, there I am all good.
But the question lies, which one should compromise, if boy does that, then it was unfair, no matter how much love is involved. And if girl does that, she is not wrong, as it is not her city, she has to take care of her grieving father.
So how duck in? The girl writes this article, based on her seemingly doom relationship and the boy reads it, and go back to their memories how they started and in fear of losing her, he ends up going to shanghai. I don’t know if that was a slod reason.
HFM also reconsider, and tried to stay in Beijing for a time being, but when boy let her have it, they decide for Shanghai.
I am troubled actually, one had to scarifies, and in this couple relationship it was always boy who did that. I just unable to blame girl or boy for this decision, but I am troubled and at unease to what the solution could have been.
Love, sure solves things, but if you make too much sacrifices in name of love, love vanishes. I am just not happy for them to go to shanghai. It is not girls’ fault and it is not boys fault. I am just troubled by this.

The book does talk about rejection of love, unacceptance, an people who never took him seriously, but the writer doesn't portray himself as angel.
In the novel, ML was not loved by his father, but in story it seems, he misses is father, also, his in influent member. Also, in book, ML is rich, and his depression and problems aren't stemmed from money or poverty.
They did use elements, but it is not enough to say it is based on book.
How ironic it is, because of someone having prejudice against the FL for not conceding to ML affection, are rating this show low - is a bad example of a "watcher". I mean you only watched this drama for FL to fall for ML? What about their journey, pain and growth? Other characters.
May be this series don't give nay life lesson, or philosophy on life, but it does leave you with a sense of satisfaction.
XJ above all is the most human character in this drama, who pursued her love, even knowing she will fail. And so did ML. No one was wrong, each three loved the person who couldn't love them back. But in the end they came where the belonged.

Actually these are the stories of ordinary people. Think of them ordinary, their crises, failures and rejections are ordinary. If you take them special, you will be dessapointed.
KJ is a intriguing character, however, there is nothing extraordinary background story... because to feel at the bottom in life, you don't have to have bad childhood or some tragic past. Unhappiness and depression aren't stemmed from tragedy.
I hate and loathed when FL has to go through screening of stupid dumb people. ML should clean her feet with water everyday. And he should have told her why he is rushing for marriage...even though he loves her. I would have felt betrayed if marrying someone had one of the reason of saving some business.
Also ML has put FL in some strong position. I feel her aura is gone only ML is left. I fucking hate this shit. ML should make shutup call for people who looks down on her. I want FL mother to give a big slap to ML side... I just hope ML shows some deep affection towards her...And not just being considerate. Because she dearly loves him..And he is being nice as if he is forcing himself to like her.
I dont know prequel but please tell what is the shit with his brothers to be wife?

In fact if we see Vivienne Tien is the main lead here. her scenes are almost 70% in each episode. When SY has almost 40% screen time in each episode.
Also the ship is odd, I don't like it either, but SY has no story thus far, apart from that she is falling for a guy.
This drama actually is not about leads, rather it is an ensemble cast, and there isn't one principal actor but all of them are.
