Shin Hye Sun is such a talented actress, but she still hasn't received her due claim to fame. I just wish, she get her mark this time.
And what can I say KJH, he is 30, well age doesn't matter, but his acting skills are on whole other level. I am not saying this, just because he actually got sick while filming Time, and had to exit the show because of illness brought on him by his method acting, but his passion for roles are unlike other. Be it comedy, or serious, he truly is one of finest of his generation.
In Time, I couldn't bare to watch leads miserable roles even though he went beyond his acting capabilities, but in Waikiki in season 1, I watched him dearly, at-least for me, his performance was out of the world. His expressions, dialogue delivery, stupidities, foolishly filled love face was so spot on, that it looked real, and that when you enjoy a show, and I did, and I still do.
I think that this series was okay, but not more than that. Whatever we think about it I believe we should be honest…
I completely understand what you are saying.
And I never said that, don't give your opinion, specially the honest one. For me... as well, series lacked in many ways, but I overlooked it, why? Because my expectation from K-BL industry are zero, as I don't want myself ending-up it comparing with Thai or Pinoy or Taiwanese BL, because they are far away from such stories, and direction, yet.
This year 3 popular K-BL came out and 4th is coming on 31st. And see, even though they are 45min per season, they are well made efforts, like really well. Criticise all you want, but understand, that baby has just come out, and it needs time to grow old to do well. So be patient, good stories will come out. First 2 years of Thai BL was so immature, like straight guy turning gay, forced relationship and same good old school uniform stories, but eventually they came out of it and still in process of making good BL/Gay theme stories, even though they don't have censorship.
But for S Korea, all kind of restrictions exist. Which surely they will overcome with time. Even though stories, direction or production do not match of people standard, I still find these 8-12ish episodic stories quite mature and well acted.
And yes you said it right. More than BL is needed. There are artist and K-pop idols, succumbing to their agencies pressure and living a lie, but eventually they will see to it. I am not projecting or forcing my assumptions to any artist of K-Industry and I have huge respect for what they do as living in prison of your choice is death by complacency.
If people are nitpicking on BL that is from Korea, then it is blatant discouragement for production companies and producers, who are taking baby steps into this genre. As all of us know, Korean industry and culture is not fond of this kind of stories let alone gay center plot or full length BL drama. Which they are far from that to achieve.
99film, Strongberry and some small companies are making most of Korean BL and they are dedicated to LGBTQ, so their contents are much more matured than any other production. But other companies are trying to expand into that horizon and many hurdles are in their ways, such as proper funding, finding actors who can play gay characters without any hesitation, or other cast or crew without any prejudice.
"Two Korean actors", who are well established leading actors now, did BL a decade ago, and they have never spoken of it or once tried to venture into again, why...? because their agencies won't let them. Their money and ratings matters the most.
You tell me, why no actor, no artist has come out in Korean industry, do you believe that they are all straight? (I apologize for such assumption but that is truth) There are so many artists suffocating at the hands of their agencies. It is wrong to assume, but I am damn sure poor Cha In-ha suffered on the hands of people around him, and so does many others.
So it is my humble request, that while giving your reviews, specially for contents that aren't marginalised or fully acknowledged yet but it is someone efforts to drift the direction in doing just that, please appreciate.
When the future Seo Jin, decided to kill himself in order to get the confession out of it. How he was in contact with AR the whole time, as they can only contact for 1 minute. And the the whole conversation between Chairman and him was more than that. It is the only confusion I have.
Who doesn't. I would watch 100 plus episode of drama such as One Spring Night and Something In The Rain, these are two magical series in term of relationships, story, OST and acting.
I mean... I am loving it for now, the girl is perfect, sometime you need, less popular protagonists to keep the expectations in check. Don't get me wrong, both ISW and SSK has been doing main leading roles for quiet sometimes, but actually failed to hit the mark, just like our talented gaarrrl Shin Hye Sun of Mr. Queen.
This is by the way serious story, with toxic characters around. Both actors plus side ones, harbors deep scars, that is going to be more green with each episode. The boy is more broken than a girl, so he is going to be more dependent on girl, which is like beauty to watch. And yes they are not idiot.
I just love the interactions of both people, the boy is subtle, expressionless, like he is learning each emotion or action one at a time and appears to be oblivious to world, but in reality he is just from a broken loveless family with fake smiles, and the girl is like a drop in his ocean.
That CEO girl also looks fine and not vicious, god if they turned into vile love triangle or make leads broken over for the sake of "each others" good, I am gonna kill the writer with curses.
If it is a JBTC drama, than it is full of society taboos and pressure. And will not have cunning second leads destroying lead couple, instead it will be the society.
I just started but I can’t get over the Anglo actors lmaooo they are so stiff and cringey. But the parts without…
same, the white dude is serious and looks like he is reading from prompter. Anyway we can give it a pass, because this should not be criticise for obvious reasons. But please whats up with that Korean lady, is she speaking or chewing words?
If there is Untamed on one side and on the other I Told Sunset About You, I will still choose ITSAY.
I am waiting for second part desperately. This series is magical in every way, a well spent BL budget on any BL series ever, and their acting was out class, raw, intense, mature and year for each other like none other.
The first episode was like-able, it wasn't unusual, it wasn't special, it was normal. I am not seeing any evil characters, even though they each going to have their familial problems and pressures come out plus society expectations will have them "run-on" their dreams.
I hope no LOVE TRIANGLE. Seriously, 2020 was full of crazy love triangles and cheating and what not. The CEO girl appears to be crazy but I think he is not in to the ML, as she has different ambitions and probably will fall in love with the art guy. They introduced all the characters in first episode, and so far story is simple, plain and good old plot.
The children (siblings) has already suffered because of their parents busy careers and grew up to be lonely and depending on each other. ML father is already the good-old K-drama villains, and he is no good here as well, same old pressuring power-whore useless father and mother is also no good to their children, smitten in fame.
ISW has always been a different actor and too similar to Yoo Ah In, in giving similar vibes as YAI gives. His acting has a charm when he acts and he too young to be 32 (lol). SSK already received too much criticism for The Bride of Habaek and Black Knight, but what can I say, she is fearless, bold and amazing actress.
I am just hoping, there no struggle on love part, its really really exhausting to see you know planning and plotting against lead couple instead have them fight for their dreams and good life, but fighting solely for love is a great waste of production and money.
Please make CEO girl a good one and not evil witch. I hope too see good episodes ahead.

For now solid 8/10
