Based on the novel and even the drama, the crown prince is seen unfit for his title and I for one like many, agree to that.... But I couldn't be proud of him as a person as I was when he had his one to one chess play and heartfelt conversion with the emperor... He accepted his truth, despite being the CP, he is truly filial and loyal, his family comes first and he won't change that and he won't apologize for that and if he was to lose his title of crown prince he won't regret it as long as he is still his father's son. Some may find this inadequate but as someone who was once abused and bullied by my own family members, I found that commendable.

As mentioned before CSS is indeed mischievous but also pure... She doesn't read people beyond what they show her at least that's what I think ... If someone is nice to her s/he is a good person, and vice versa... Her revenges are tamed cuz she never was a victim of injustice where her whole family is wiped out. That trauma will be engraved in that person's heart and soul forever as seen with LBY and HZJ.

We are long past the point where CSS wants to be kicked out of the palace or her engagement with LBY canceled. LBY was an accomplice only when there was a win win situation, and when they weren't entangled with eo like now. She is stubbornly hanging by her evenges cuz she never had someone to uphold justice for her... She was abandoned and abused since childhood, she is accustomed to have her own back... She could even trust her parents... So trusting LBY completely will take time and she is a teenager.

These two episodes 31-32 hit me in places in my heart and soul I never thought they existed. Every scene I had to pause and take in what was going on and reread every sentence. The writing is excellent, and the acting is on par. There is no right or wrong in the world, it only depends on where you are standing. LBY and CSS had valid arguments... One is guilty of miscommunication/secrecy and the other of impulsiveness/stubbornness But you can't blame them, their background stories play a huge part of shaping their characters and those traits are just manifestations of self-defence mechanisms. LBY is living his life hiding his own truth, even the emperor who loves zisheng no less than his own son... Didn't reach the level where LBY would confide to him ... Sure, he is in love with CSS and regards her as the woman of his entire life ... But stripping yourself in front of someone whose actions and emotions are unpredictable is a risk LBY can't take yet. He is taking it a step by step... In his love life or revenge plan after all he is ruthless pragmatic general. CSS is just 15 for heaven's sake, no education, no parental love, no protection since infancy... She is pure and naive ... She is starving for maternal affection that's why when given that by the empress, she subconsciously wanted to repay her by being loyal and filial... And nothing is wrong with that... This would be great in an ordinary setting, but she is in the palace where all the scheming and conspiracies are brewing, if the young powerless princesses are this greedy and vicious, do you think those officials are your average loyal subjects? She could easily become a pawn in something much bigger than anything she ever imagined.... But, again I am not blaming her, cuz she is young and honest and also, AFRAID of losing herself to whatever mold she thinks LBY is trying to put her in.
My only regret is not that CSS took revenge on 3rd Princess.. but it's about the time and place . General Huo memorial hall on his passing anniversary is just stupidly inconsiderate
This conflict is yet another stepping stone in their relationship... They should learn to trust and confide in each other.
I loved all the dialogues between CSS and the empress, her mother, the crown prince.... Between the crown prince and the emperor. Another thing, I don't like the crown prince wife at all, she seems nice and kind to CSS but overplaying the victim card like there is no tomorrow... She even tries to redirect the narrative when she is talking with CSS . I don't like her at all or maybe I am reading too much into this.
Epi 37-38 like why the hell i watched it before watching the epi? My heart can't take this damage anymore 💔ðŸ˜ðŸ˜…

I don't know about YS but LBY was already in love with her at that time... He said it himself, he will only love one woman, a woman he will know she is the one once he sees her... I think tha lantern festival was that moment even his subordinates took notice of his subtle change in heart... He just wasn't straightforward with his feelings as LY and I presume it was because the revenge idea was taking over his whole life.... Plus CSS unlike every girl and woman in the capital showed no sign not even a hint of infatuation towards him.
