I don't know if this is appropriate for the comments section but this whole episode discussion has made me think.…
I have to disagree, the scene was heavily romanticized. BL series are romance dramas... this show will almost undoubtedly have a happy ending, so the couch scene is just one step in their journey to get back together and have a Happy Ending. This somewhat normalizes rape and non-consent, because many casual viewers (not hardcore BL fans, who have scene noncon too many times unfortunately) might believe rape and nonconsensual behavior is okay. This show is starting to get popular, and I think there are a lot of casual viewers here in Taiwan. Many gay Taiwanese men will tune in just because they have representation in media.
My biggest problem with the scene was the music... if they were gonna put in this scene, they should have chosen less romantic music or just had no music at all.
Even though ZSY clearly still has feelings for GSD, and was just as much fighting his own feelings than fighting against GSD, he did not consent to anything. GSD entered his home, pushed him onto the sofa, and came onto him... This is all problematic behavior.
I will still continue to watch and support the show, but I have to say my feelings for it have really changed... season 1 was top-notch, but I really can't look forward to it the way I used to.
"... if one of them could be replaced by a girl, and the story still works, then it's still quite heteronormative…
He's Coming to Me is very high on my list! There's just too much to watch right now haha. I think Red Balloon is underrated, it really is quite similar to Your Name Engraved.
In Dark Blue...all Main Characters identify themself as gay and didn't care about the typicall "I'm not gay, i…
Oh right, I kind of remember the story of Dark blue and moonlight, but it's been a while.
Personally, I think it's not enough for a show to just have two openly gay characters for it to be considered LGBT... if one of them could be replaced by a girl, and the story still works, then it's still quite heteronormative and aligned with the typical BL themes. For example, I thought of adding Boys' Lockdown to the list, which is a fairly high quality show with two openly gay characters, but it's really just a cute, fluffy romance which could have been with a guy and a girl.
I am not actually from Taiwan, just living here... but I'm still proud of Taiwan, haha. I love We Best Love so much... definitely doesn't go on this list, as it's kind of like a classic BL, but I am in love with the characters and their chemistry.
By the way, I think your English is very good! No need to worry :)
yeah Quaranthings is definitely more low budget than the rest, but still better than most of the other Pinoy-BLs,…
I don't quite remember how Craving You is LGBT relevant, except for maybe the secondary couple getting married, and the singer guy having issues with his family. I feel like I am the only one on the planet who enjoyed Dark Blue and Moonlight, since I feel like it depicts a more realistic, messy side of relationships and romance. But I don't remember exactly what LGBT issues are in the show (probably a coming out scene or family drama?). It pains me to not include any Taiwanese shows on this list since I am living in Taiwan and it is such an open-minded country, but I really cannot think of any... the one that came closest was maybe HiStory3: MODC, and Red Balloon, However, I feel like in a lot of BL shows (Taiwanese ones especially) family acceptance and coming out (often accidentally) is more used as a plot device, and as such doesn't feel as realistic and meaningful. In DBK and Gameboys, the coming out scenes felt more raw, but were not essential to the main storyline. Anyways, thanks again for the comment, I appreciate it.
hey there I highly appreciate your List to support the LGBT-Community. I would definitely put "he's coming to…
Thanks for the comment! He's Coming to Me is on my list, but I haven't gotten around it. I watched a little bit of Quaranthings, and was put off a little by the low-budget, but maybe I'll give it another shot.

Oh it seems like I was a little off, the translation below by Sayd is more accurate. I forgot that the same phrase was used in the hot pot scene in episode 2.
So cute. Too bad I couldn't understand anything they say.Any chance someone can translate this please? https://www.instagram.com/tv/CJbCHrmArwp/?igshid=11yadu21c497z

My chinese ability is limited, but I asked my native speaker friend to help translate. Basically, Shi De says "That day, I also said I would take advantage of your vulnerability/weakness... but I'm not actually going to do that to you". I don't actually remember him saying something like this. I guess I will have to go back and check episode 3.
I was surprised too. I thought that maybe he said something wich means "ok, I'll get to you when you're hurt but…
I am not a native speaker, but I have a fair understanding of Chinese... he said 'bu zhun qu' which basically means "you can't go'. I think in this context, it means something like, 'don't come near me'
Mmh excuse me but I'd like to say something, what you said about "the absence of clear seme/uke (masculine/feminine)"…
I appreciate the comment but I think you misunderstood me. If you have watched any BL shows (judging from your profile, it seems you have) you will know that the majority of them contain the masculine/feminine tropes . I was only praising the film for not following this trope, which makes it more of an LGBT film and less of a BL film. I agree that these roles are problematic, but it is a major aspect of BL series, and it won't be going away any time soon.
