I watched it when it first aired, so I don't remember if it was explained or not but from what I can guess, it's because, the more he remembers (dreams) the more the mark appears, or so he may not have had dreams or memories by then, tbh there's a lot of plot holes in Dramas, sometimes my brain just decides to ignore them. I havent read or not really planning to read the novel but from my understanding it seemed that that could be two things, what u said that thee would never adopt with consulting peach, or Peach has it seen it as a blessing in disguise that the kids were adopted by their family so all his worries were gone and thee knew that. so consultation needed. It seemed it was too small of detail not everyone really cared for and easily ignored, especially to those who didnt read the novel. like me, i had a similar thought while watching but it wasnt bothering me to the point i had to ponder. :)
