I apologize for not posting Previous comments in the right Place. Messaged them to you and now , I can't find them to put them here. I am only now getting used to some of these intricacies of MDL.
You stopped at the right moment 😠Such a waste considering how strong it started.
It is difficult to stop here but I know I would be unhappy with myself if I continued. I am always curious about what it is that affects my enjoyment of a drama and reiews like yours help me become a more discerning viewer.
So I am watching Dream of Golden Years and that feels like good decision.
I have stopped watching after episode 30. The plot density and pacing is just too much. I had been very much enjoying the character led story. Thank you for your review. A pity since there is so much that is good about this production.
I also did not think the best thing was all that great. The unaddressed boundary violations bothered me to start . It was a while ago I watched it and I can't remember details of why I did not like it but it was not Interesting to me
Thank you for your detailed and thoughtful review. I am afraid this drama will be excruciatingly slow for me. I did not like hidden love for that reason. I did like you are my Glory.
I loved sniper butterfly. I thought the psychological nuance was well Done and the themes well delivered.
Shine on me does not sound like a drama.I would enjoy, judging from your review.
I found your review going in through this show page. This is\nThe kind of drama one might miss if 1 went only by the M d l's score And some of the Not very well, thought out reactions to an age gap romance. Reviews like yours.\nAre very helpful to me when I am choosing a drama.
I just watched episode 21. I was hanging in there but a scene where they are acknowledgint their love that was so poorly acted by VS was the death knell of this drama for me. I am enjoying the ML very much so this is disappointing. The motivations for the FL are inscrutable.
I stopped at episode 6(Ming envoy ridiculousness) and then watched the last episode because I wanted to know how the time travel plot would be handled. As you write, it was a cop out. If this drama had been served up as a satire and better edited, it might have come closer to hitting the mark. As it was, it was a mishmash of genres with clashing transitions between the genres and poor pacing. I am glad I bailed.
I have watched many Asian time travel dramas and recognized elements of Faith, Queen InHyun's Man and there are others I am sure. When this is done without satire it feels very unoriginal. So many lost opportunities in the script and directing.
The very long episodes were the first thing that gave me reservations. I may have watched the middle if the episodes were 45 minutes. I disengaged with the Ming Envoy cooking competitions. I think the reason for the competition could have been signaled as humourous but was not. Who wagers their country's trade relations on a cooking contest? Would have set the stage for a humourous look at international relationships but it fell flat and was not what I wanted anyway from this drama.
I agree with many of your points, particularly the difficulty the drama had in mixing genres and in giving us better understanding of the time travel. I stopped watching around episode 5 because of the heavy emphasis on the cooking competitions. I tuned back in for episode 12 and was royally disappointed. Perhaps I would have appreciated th e romance more if I had watched the entire show. I did not feel the romance at all.
I found the rough tonal shifts to be very disengaging and the balance of the themes(genres) poor.
I am puzzled that no one has mentioned the weird turn in episode sixteen or so. It is enough to make me want to stop watching even though I had been enjoying the drama up until now. Is there going to be a serial rapist killer trafficking arc?
I feel the same way, but I think it's slowly getting better with each episode
There is something that is not working for me. Not sure what it is but I stopped watching because I am having difficulty with the depiction of the war torn country. Scenes in other countries in cdramas are often awkward so I might resume watching at some point. Enjoying the main leads

One and only is absolutely one of my favorite sad cdramas.
There is something mesmerizing about the setting and pacing of this drama.
The love story is so profound.
