Honest review on this movie
*no major spoilers*When I first saw the trailer of Oversize Love, it looked very interesting but after watching the movie, I was disappointed. First off, I felt that the movie was rushed in a way that the story plot was not set up smoothly and I didn’t really feel chemistry between the actors. I would like to also mention that I think it would have been better to be a drama instead of a movie which would produce a better story plot and help build the chemistry between the actors. Also, the title of this movie is alright and would have liked it to be witty because the movie incorporated some aspects of the movie “Alice in Wonderland” which could have produced a connected concept. With that, I don’t think I would rewatch this movie but would be interested if there would be a Chinese drama with a similar concept. So my overall rating of this movies is 5/10.

Why you SHOULD watch this drama!
When this drama first came out, I wasn’t very interested. But later, I decided to watch it and finished it in 2 days!!! (Lol skimmed through unimportant parts) Anyways, second lead syndrome killed me, he stole my heart. This drama is very different in the roles and approach of the characters.SPOILER WARNING:
Su Fu (Second male lead) mainly took the whole love interest plot- this is very surprising but I think it took away some elements of how the male lead is usually the one where the female lead is in love with over the second male lead. I really rooted for Su Fu and Ran Yan. But, Ran Yan and Xiao Song fall in love towards the end (the ML was in love with her but Ran Yan loved Su Fu.). This drama has a happy ending where the main actors are together. The ending has a cliff hanger... not on the main couple but Su Fu. In the last episode, Su Fu sacrificed himself and died. As a huge Asian drama fan, I always try to predict what may happen. After that scene, I felt like Su Fu would actually still be alive and he was. I say it ended on a cliff hanger because Su Fu is still in love with Ran Yan and there was an ominous chill. But I really doubt they would make another season of this drama. If they do a sequel, maybe it would focus on Su Fu but I don’t know how they would expand and create another drama plot.
ANYWAYS, I really recommend this drama! You will experience an emotional roller coaster ride and even question yourself on who Ran Yan should’ve ended up with.

Why you should consider watching this movie! With honest thoughts
Based on the movie description, this movie seemed very interesting. Another reason why I watched this movie was because of the ML Sugino Yosuke 💕Anyways, the FL’s acting felt cringey in the beginning as her character gives off this awkward and eccentric vibe. It felt like she was overdoing it, but it played out smoothly and toned down throughout the movie. I think the ML’s acting was more enjoyable. His character had a cool and nonchalant/rude vibe. I would say that there was some chemistry between the actors but not a strong one. If this was made into a drama instead, then I think it would allow for more build up in their chemistry and acting. With the story plot, it is very relatable to society involving dating apps and societal pressures to be in a relationship. This movie perfectly depicted that and portrayed possible problems and scenarios.
*spoilers*
At the end of the movie, I loved that it showed the ML’s real reactions and thoughts about the FL. This was not shown in the movie as he came off as rude and thoughtless, so it gave the perspective of his real feelings towards the FL which was super cute! ☺️

Amazing story, production, and ACTING!
This drama blew me away and definitely exceeded my expectations. I looked forward to Han So Hee’s acting when the trailer was released and after watching her in this action/crime genre, she did AMAZING!The whole plot was very smooth and there wasn’t any point in the drama of dragging out the story. Every moment was important and captivating.
This drama is filled with intense action and incredible emotions! I watched the whole drama in one sitting because it was SO good. There were a lot of twists and turns that were shocking even if it was somewhat predictable or not.
In the end, I was filled with a huge and intense emotion with some sadness but it offered a realistic outcome.

Started off promising but plot line got boring halfway
This drama started off very interesting from ep 1-7. I really liked Rena’s psychopathic acting and creepy ‘normal’ smile. I think her character’s acting was the best in the drama but fell off in ep 8 and so on. I wish the drama could’ve implemented an in-depth development of her psychopathic character.. Like did she always need to use a pair of scissors to become threatening towards the main characters? Like they could’ve expanded more on her abilities because of her psyche. Her dad was a joke. He’s a psychiatrist but couldn’t go against Rena enabling her psychopathic tendencies. SMH lolI feel like Sachiko’s acting was lacking and bland. She didn’t offer a variety of facial expressions. Sachiko’s initial revenge plan was thought-out and her determination to ruin Rena was there but sort of lost impact when she couldn’t eliminate Rena’s baby. Plus her emotional feelings towards Makoto definitely affected her plans.
After that, the plot line seemed to fall apart and lost its momentum making the ending not satisfactory for me personally. My perfect ending would’ve been that Makoto still died as collateral but Rena also dying in some way making Sachiko’s revenge feel complete. They gave Rena too much grace of depicting her still being human which just contradicts her psychopathic-muderous life and then having her end up in jail when she should’ve suffered way more.
BUT if I could change the plot line, I would’ve made Makoto’s character low-key messed up too since he knew that Rena killed his mom for him. Like it would’ve been a nice plot twist if he also had some psychopathic tendencies making him and Rena perfect for each other. Thus creating more determination for Sachiko’s revenge.
*definitely would not recommend others to watch-waste of time

Super cute and fun movie to watch! *manga version has more in-depth details to their story!
When I first saw the trailer for this movie, it looked like a fun and typical romance J-movie I would enjoy watching. I recognized the main actor but hadn’t seen the main actress in anything so I looked forward to their collaboration. I watched the movie back in like Sept/Oct 2024 and just rewatched it recently. I have seen and read the comments about the actress’s cringey acting but I think it just adds more personality to her character especially since she fantasizes a lot lol. I also think it brought an “anime” feel to her character of being dramatic and exaggerative.Anyways, this movie was very enjoyable and fulfilled my love for J-drama/movies. The second time round of watching it, I decided to read the manga version (not finished reading yet) and I definitely recommend reading that version because it has so much more in-depth cute and fun details about their relationship. Also, Ellie is more perverted in the manga lol. Like her tweets are so perverted and hilarious! One example- “The two of us at a lingerie shop <3 I asked him to pick one out, and he said, ‘If you ask me, I’ll choose one that’s easier to take off than to wear. Are you sure about that?’ <3 Let’s go for a G-string, then!”
For the most part, the movie version was 80% identical to the manga version based on what they showed. For example, in the manga-Omi regularly reads Ellie’s fantasizing tweets about him, Sara knows about Ellie’s twitter (Ellie told her about it), and the deep past between Omi and Aoba is revealed.
In another person’s review, they mentioned how they thought a drama production would’ve been better and I definitely agree! A drama would allow them to show more details about their relationship and display more things from the manga that the movie didn’t include!
This movie is a fun and cute watch especially if you enjoy the typical J-movies!

Surprising & unexpected
I looked forward to this movie ever since the trailer came out. It has such an interesting plot line which is sweet and light. I would say that it was a bit predictable but some of my predictions were wrong which made the movie more engaging.I could understand some people’s hesitancy to watch a step-sibling love story but the ones I’ve seen are heartwarming and comedic.
*spoiler but I have questions about a particular scene: flashback- Minato comes home to see a girl leave her brother’s room which prompts her to check on him. This reveals that Toru’s clothes are on the floor while he is sitting on his bed under his blanket. This indicates a possible love scene. But, I wanted some clarification about this scene since we learn that Toru has loved Minato ever since they first met as kids and so I wonder if he went through with it or not to distance himself from Minato. (Let me know if they explain in the manga!)
I give this movie a 8.5/10 because I would’ve like to see more authentic, romantic scenes between Toru and Minato (not only Mina). The FL acting was on point and provided a naive and comedic character. The ML acting was sufficient where he conveyed a lot of emotions.

The C-drama has an amazing storyline and never gets boring!
I am only up to episode 13 but it is so good! Already from the start, the chemistry between the lead characters is amazing and sweet ❤️ This Chinese drama is very different and new to me. It has an amazing storyline and it never gets boring. So I really recommend others to watch this drama! ☺️👍This drama’s lead actors is the first time I’ve seen them. The ML has a certain aura about him which makes his character different from many others. The FL is so cute yet clueless about feelings. Haha. I have seen many Insta videos about the drama and I just decided on a whim to watch and I don’t regret watching! 💗
